  1. Work is more fun when you can take pictures for a couple minutes at lunch:)
  2. What do you mean by nano? My 30 cube has a sump, so I just turn off the skimmer and return, and use a mj with some tubing to pump 4 gallons from sump to bucket, then bucket to sump. It takes all of 5 minutes. When I clean the sand I just stir up the bed, then change filter socks when the water clears. Easy peasy
  3. For the past 2 1/2 months, this tank has given me one heck of a lesson in humility. Things seem to be on the mend, but only after killing the majority of my sps. I ended up losing a mystery green bottlebrush and pink birdsnest from C&C, green slimer and beautiful Cali tort from TECO, over 90% of my monti cap and digitata, and nearly lost some encrusting montis as well. All the while I was desperately trying to figure out what was wrong. I lowered light levels, added flow, ran polyfilter. I slowly and carefully adjusted temperature, alk levels, nitrate and phosphate levels using vinegar and GFO. Never once did I question the belief that had somehow slipped into my head, the idea that control of the main elements (alk, cal, mag) and nutrients (nitrate and phosphate) made water changes all but unnecessary When I finally threw my hands up in the air, stopped messing with my dosing pump and started changing water like a maniac, the results were immediate, polyp extension like I hadn't seen in months and LPS that I had assumed to be unaffected puffing to double their size, and a big serving of humble pie.
  4. If anyone is interested, I have a ton (enough to seed multiple large tanks) of microsword 'mini'. It stays around 2 inches in height, and is much easier to grow than hc or ug, and looks like an actual grass lawn in the tank once it has grown in. I'm looking for a couple easy care sps frags in exchange, monti caps, green slimer, that sort of thing. There is some clado present, so maybe avoid if you are an algaephobe.
  5. That is some sexy rockwork. When is this tank going to get wet?
  6. Nice tank HT. My planted tanks get neglected during the holiday insanity, so here is their current state: 40 breeder 30 "riparium" Someday soon I'll spend the hour or so it will take to get them back to pretty
  7. Sorry Jack, it is already gone.
  8. Thanks, I'll give that a shot.
  9. So, is one mounted on the back, and the other on the side wall? I'm liking the sound of that.
  10. The second wp10 is brand new, so the placement is changing hourly. Currently they are on the back wall, opposite sides of the tank, halfway down, pointed slightly outwards and up.
  11. My apologies if this thread contains no criticism for Micah, Kevin, the BOD, VVB, or anyone else. I just have an honest to gosh question about the runnings of a reef tank. Long story short: 30 gallon cube, wp25 was too much, wp10 was too little, 2xwp10 seems to be just about right. However, I can't seem to get that perfect placement that will give me heavy random flow up top for sps, and moderate flow along the lower half for lps. Suggestions?
  12. Aw man, I would love to get my hands on some zoas and a maxima, but it just isn't in the cards this time(sad) Good luck with the sale, though. Everything looks great!
  13. I have a couple .22 carbines I use to shoot steel and produce out in the woods. I wish I could make it out more often, my tactikewl 15-22 with red dot and retractable bipod is stupid fun. I'm hoping to pick up a 9mm shield, Browning Buckmark and an AK of some sort.
  14. Thanks, guys:) Scubasteve, your package was sent on Friday, so it should probably be there tomorrow.
  15. The chunk I have remaining is 3x4 ft
  16. I have a bit left over. If you think you will ever make it to Portland, I'll measure out the exact dimensions. Otherwise, check on eBay for cheaper shipping than brs
  17. Agreed, awesome frags at awesome prices. Thanks to Jody and Jose:)
  18. Playing around with my photojojo lenses for the iphone. These things are so much fun:) Clown cave, similar to a clown car? Best picture yet of my favorite coral. Euphyllia close up. Strange creature inhabiting my birdsnest. Does anyone know what this is? It happily eats mysis.
  19. Thanks! All the cool kids are doing it;) I wasn't really considering carbon dosing, but now that I have the ability, it does sound so much more convenient than say an algae scrubber. It would be a real shame to not use all 4 dosing heads, right?
  20. Happy birthday to meeee:)
