  7. So, the logistics of tearing this tank down are proving to be a bit tricky. Right now I'm trying to set something up with Flash21, Mj's-Reef, and Paratore. Everyone else is wait listed, and I will do my best to get back to people when I figure out if there will be any remaining livestock.
  8. Thanks! My next project might be a crested gecko vivarium, or the pipefish garden we talked about... who knows... but I will definitely be trying a reef tank again at some point:)
  9. Alright, I'm going to start replying to people already:)
  10. No problem:) Thanks! Rough is a pretty good description. Not disastrous or heart breaking, just rough, thankfully.
  11. All right, it looks like there is some interest:) I'll be getting back to everyone as I get the chance, to work out logistics. It is all a bit tricky right now, as I am medically barred from driving until April. By the way, I am actually in Portland, and the tank is up by the airport.
  12. Due to some life changes, I am unable to take care of my tank properly at the moment. I have a black perc clown, azure damsel, tail spot blenny and large cleaner shrimp. They all get along well in a 30 gallon. Free to a good home. I also have a bunch of colonies of standard zoas and hammers, with a couple rarer pieces mixed in. I'm willing to give it all away to people who will return the favor when I get the tank back up. (Probably not for a year) The catch is that I have a pretty serious aiptasia situation going on....
  13. Also, in freshwater, H2o2 happens to sink to the bottom, which can be a serious consideration. I have no idea if it reacts similarly in sw, but I would want that knowledge prior to putting any in a reef tank.
  14. I've never attempted it in sw, but in fresh planted tanks H2o2 is magic, if applied correctly. All water movement should be off, and remain off for 30 minutes post treatment. The peroxide gets spot dosed via syringe directly into the algae at a maximum rate of 1ml per gallon. Sensitive plants bordering the algae can be negatively affected. I suspect the same would be true of corals.
  15. I have a 30 I might be willing to part with. Stand could use some work. Portland area. Pm me if interested.
  16. Ok, will do. Thanks. The other branches are starting to get some PE, so hopefully I can save the rest. Some one in my tank has been vigilantly removing all my new frags at night, superglue and all. Not sure if it is the clown, the blenny, the damsel or the emerald crab. They all seem aggro enough to be the culprit.
  17. Somebody tossed my gorgonian into a hammer coral over the weekend. One branch has been stripped of flesh, do I cut it off or leave it?
  18. I could easily take the lighting period as low as 6 1/2 hours without bothering anyone. So far, my chalice hates my lighting, my acan seems to prefer the shade. My Euphyllia and candy canes seems to dig it just fine at the bottom of the tank. I'm hoping I can move them higher onto the rocks. I'm thinking of adding primarily more zoas, probably a couple more Euphyllia, a BTA...
  19. My tank is a 30 cube, lit by a 250w Phoenix. Water movement is primarily 2 wp10s creating a gyre effect. I plan on transition from mixed reef to all Lps, zoas and maybe a bubble tip, for ease of care. Do I need to downgrade my lighting? I think I can just turn the pumps to a lower setting.
  20. Really nice! Do you ever swing through Portland?
  21. Ok, some other possibly relevant info: The tank is 30 gallon total. I do a 4-5 gallon water change every two weeks with Kent Marine. At one point many months ago, I got way behind on the water changes, and all my SPS were dying in a similar fashion until I got them a couple big water changes and starting sticking with the schedule. At that time though, my LPS was looking a bit rough, now they look happier than ever. I did acquire an RO/DI recently. TDS was reading 0, so I didn't switch any filters. I'm pretty sure the DI is shot right now... I also opened a new box of salt, and this one has been leaving quite a bit of sediment during mix up. I haven't tested the params of the new water, but they haven't been throwing off my tank. Light is 250w Pheonix 14k. About a year old. Everything I've read says it should be good for 2. Necrosis is at both the tips and base. Just the tips for Joe the Coral, just the base for the birdsnest. Make of that what you will. I did a water change yesterday, and the conditions today are unchanged. At this point, it is hard to tell when it is getting better, but easy to tell when it is getting worse. So, lack of worsening conditions is a win right now. Thanks for all the help guys! I would really like to keep SPS, they are the reason I got into the hobby. Though I am starting to wonder if this should just be a zoa and LPS garden.
