  1. I have an idea, since this is a grow out contest, the total polyp count isn't necessarily important. What if, instead of cutting off extra polyps, we just take note of how many each person started with. That way if some of the frags end up with extras at the beginning, you don't have to stress them any more by cutting. Just note the total at the beginning, and then the total at the end. Who ever has the largest number of polyps minus the number that they started with wins. Just an idea to stress these animals as little as possible.
  2. Joel, I have not been to waves, nor have I ever spent any money there. I also have not been to any of the SW stores in the Portland area, this is because I live in Philomath. Its a heck of a long drive to get up there, and I have to devote my entire day/weekend to a trip of that nature. I appreciate the option of purchasing some things online because I do not have many local choices available to me. I frequent Jason's shop because I am in Salem once a week and it is reasonable for me to be there. I have purchased ALL of my live stock and most of my supplies from him. However, I am in the market for a better skimmer so that I am able to maintain my tank at an optimal level. The cost of the skimmer that I am interested in online is a fraction of what it would cost me at a store....shipping included. My ability to acquire this piece of equipment at a reasonable cost will open up my ability to purchase more livestock and continue to support my LFS. I am sorry that you feel that you've been short changed by this club. I have only ever heard great things about you and your store. I do hope to meet you in person some day at Sunlight supply as you are obviously a great asset to this hobby and this club in particular.
  3. 1. 150w sunpod with 20k ushio bulb and LEDs for night viewing. Bulb is about 8 months old. Asking only what I paid $150 when I bought it used. **When transporting this light to show it to someone yesterday, one of the legs broke. It looks easily fixable with some super glue. I can do this before I bring it to anyone, or you can do it if you prefer. **Willing to come down to $125 obo. I really need to get this bugger sold soon. 2. brand new in the box 150w 20k radium double ended bulb. Paid 90, asking $70 SOLD 3. 7 gallon acrylic sump. $40 4. Overflow box with aqua-lifter $20 ** If you buy the sump and overflow/aqua lifter I'll let both go for $50 5. 15.5g cube (no lights) and a cheapo stand. $20, or free if you buy something else. Delivery to the Portland area possibly available on a weekend that I will be traveling up there. (not this weekend, but next probably) **I am now entertaining offers. I really need this stuff to be gone. Photos can be taken if requested.
  4. lebanon is kinda near-ish to Corvallis. About 30 minutes south of salem
  5. I keep mine in the back yard, otherwise everyone would want some!
  6. I'd like to play, provided there is spare cash available when you decide what the buy in will be. Let me know. Also, how are frags going to be distributed this time around?
  7. I have a toad stool that's kinda bleached but making a come back. You can have it if you want it. Its pretty sad at the moment, but its trying (it came with my current tank and the previous owner rarely turned the lights on).
  8. This is perfect! Thank you so much, and please thank your son for me! She's been crying alot lately, but this made her laugh!
  9. How do you make holy water? boil the hell out of it
  10. Beckie that is amazing! Thank you so much. An eye patch would be hilarious! When its done (even if it doesn't look ok, corny is good too) would you send it to jen.rourk@gmail.com? Thanks again!
  11. I love this hobby because watching my fish tank is more entertaining than staring at a TV.
  12. Haha, as long as someone gets to be amused by my pain!
  13. Hey everyone, I have a very odd request. My good friend's horse decided to get into a fight with a steel cable fence....the fence won. He tore his legs up pretty darned good and she is really traumatized over the whole event. The horse is healing well, I am compression wrapping his legs every day and keeping him pretty doped up on strong pain killers. In this seriously stressful time of her life, I would really like to make my friend laugh. Is there anyone who can photoshop peg legs onto this photo of the horse that got hurt? I'm talking about like wooden pirate peg legs. I'd like to keep his front two legs normal, but then have the back two be wooden. I can add a photo of the injuries if anyone wants to see them, but they're pretty gruesome so I don't want to surprise anyone with the gore.
  14. So this Scopas tang rocks! I love it, such a neat looking fish. I do have a question though, I haven't seen mine eat yet. He ate enthusiastically at the store, but he's still afraid of me being near the tank so he hides when I come too close. How should I get him to eat? So far I've been turning off the pumps, putting some pellets (that's what he ate at the store) in and stepping way far back from the tank. The trouble is that the pellets sink too fast and he's still hiding by the time they're on the bottom. Today I tried squirting some mysis behind the rock where he was hiding, but I don't know if he ate. Any thoughts? On a brighter note, both of my peppermint shrimp crawled into my hands to take mysis today. That was REALLY cool.
  15. Then they'd probably give us freakin sea bass!
  16. alrighty, a night of research and some positive feedback here convinced me to bring the scopas tang home. Most everyone seems to think that its a better choice than the hippo tang because its hardier and more personable. I'll get photos when I can, he's acclimating now!
  17. Eric, I'd be interested in some of the Star of Sirus zoas, tank is still really young though. Not much to trade yet..... any idea on a cash price?
  18. I know! He's going to violate one of my pet rules soon......no critters that are large enough to eat my dog!
  19. He will however make you such amazing deals that you willingly go broke in his garage! LOL. I barely was able to walk away without that rbta.
  20. Just got a response. I asked if it was a typo and linked him to the site I referenced before. He responded with "nope. It's a grand. The site you have was the price from when they HAD them. They don't have any anymore. I'm the only person you can get this from." Wow. Just...wow. As my mother said "a thing is worth the price that someone will pay for it. If that's not enough, then it's priceless to you."
  21. Its under 20k ushio HQI. The popping neon orange is why I have been coveting it for so long. Now I'm toying with the idea of slicing it up......hehe
