  1. I have a really green m spongodes that I can easily frag into at least 100 pieces and force upon everyone if that helps? 😛
  2. By the way, I am looking for an electrician to come and install another breaker into my panel and install a couple new outlets so I can actually do proper wire management on this tank and get away from the snake nests of my older systems. If anyone has a lead on one please let me know.
  3. Milestone for the day, got skimmer impeller swapped out for a new one (there was a humming noise that upon investigation was a snail that had taken off a few teeth) and cleaned it up good as new, and now have it running. I am super pleased with the skimmer acquisition after dreaming of owning a BK skimmer for years. Thanks to my secret friend that let me twist their arm into selling it to me! I really liked my old Nyos but after two tanks it just wasn’t big enough any more. If anyone has the budget to look at a Bubble King, the reviews applauding the quality are not overstating how nice this thing is… it reminded me of getting my first piece of Deltec equipment and the fit and finish difference from my existing Precision Marine Beckett skimmer. I also got the Clarisea filter roller removed from the old tank and cleaned up but am missing the right diameter pipe to get it connected tonight to the new system. Project for another day.
  4. Do you still have the battery? I accidentally went to Miami for a while and forgot to meet up with you. If there is no snow I will have some time Friday afternoon/evening to meet up.
  5. Rock does not appear to be on your site, already sold? If not I will take it.
  6. your lady is a saint. Amazing what you have been able to assemble there!
  7. Buy this man’s goods!
  8. I have a bit of that as well and nothing in my tank seems to eat it so I pull it whenever I can. Probably an urchin or something would enjoy it, but my snails, crabs, tang, lawnmower, and parrotfish all cruise right by.
  9. Was shooting some macro shots today inspecting polyp extension and color development after running some oxo. Our newest community member decided cameras are totally interesting and wouldn’t stop with the photo bombing. I am pretty sure he wore out the autofocus… hello Geoffrey, I see you! Hoping to complete the tank transfer in the next week or so, just waiting on a couple more parts to arrive. This might be the last update from the 75 gallon display until everything is moved to the 135. Thanks for looking!
  10. Yeah, most action cameras will work as long as they are waterproof. I just found some Gopro series 7 cameras for about 75 bucks shipped on ebay but if you ask around someone probably has one in their closet they aren't using. We upgrade ours every couple years and I give the old ones to family. Look at other brands, just make sure they have inherent water resistance or you will need to get a bundle with a housing. On the GP end, I think anything series 5 or newer is good for one atmosphere (33 feet) without one. https://gopro.com/help/articles/question_answer/how-deep-can-you-dive-with-gopro-cameras?per_page=39?option=com_content&view=category&id=1&layout=blog&Itemid=50 If you watch @steveweast tank video, anything that is obviously not on a tripod I believe he shot on his Gopro as an example of what results you can get but I don't know which model he has. Works for video and still shots, though you can rip single frames out of a video using the GP software. I have a housing for mine, but I was diving deep wrecks at 50m in Cozumel this summer and needed the additional depth rating
  11. The investment isn't couch change to be sure, but it can be replicated for way less I believe. The quantity he went through was for a scape that had very significant overhangs which used multiple tubes per rock - if one didn't go quite that crazy on the gravity defiance it wouldn't be as big a deal. IO Holdfast is about 10 bucks a tube, I would be surprised if more than 10 was needed for a moderate sized aquarium based on past rockwork I have done. I think cement/mortar will work fine, it is just messy and you don't get the chance to really shape it where you need it and then imprint rock texture on it to make it disappear. I think @Gumby did a great job on that rock with mortar and superglue! I imagine that doing the rock for my WB 190 would be around $1500 to make it perfect, but I am not prepared to make that investment either 😛
  12. Do you have a Gopro? They give surprisingly good results as you can shoot inside the tank and avoid reflections and wave action, and older models are very cheap. I have color filters for mine for when I am diving, but you can color correct in Lightroom or some other application pretty easily.
  13. Here is the HNSA build video if you want to give it a watch... quite long but he talks through the thought and process. I like this build as it takes time to think about creating appropriate habitat for tank inhabitants. If I had the time I would convert to this methodology and build out a complete structure set like he did. In particular making sure there are appropriate sized hiding spaces and swim through parts, building it in sections that can be removed completely, and taking into account how flow will move through the structure.
  14. Their newer video swaps the concrete for two part epoxy, might watch that one
  15. Let’s just lock in Rainbow Loser as the new name right now. Will increase the value by heaps. Happy New Year!
  16. Once done finding a solution, you can put the auto feeder in the return pump chamber of your sump and it will still dose the food through the return line. Not sure what your budget is, but I have really liked my ClearView lid on the RSR 350, though the wait is currently quite a while unless you have a super standard tank. I went custom with the Pisces EXO line as I wanted to be able to run my auto feeder, add feed doors right above my MP40's for manual feeding, and also needed to have my RMS mounts properly spaced. I believe it was about 45 days to get it from time of order. (If anyone needs a lid for a reefer 350 and wants an autofeeder/dual feed door/rms layout I got you covered as that tank is coming down!) https://www.clearviewlids.com/pages/current-lead-time-shipping-estimates I believe some people are liking tops from Kraken Reef, but I haven't seen one in person so I cant comment on the build quality. They do not seem significantly cheaper than ClearView but the turn around time may be quicker. All custom lids are expensive but so are fish, and they look intentional which has intrinsic value to some folks. If you are handy and want a more budget method, I used the Red Sea kit on my old 170 and it was fine, but I did it with hand tools and the cuts were not perfect which bothered me. YMMV with skill level. Similar to the stuff linked above from BRS but with nifty red Sea logos on the corners so more expensive to achieve the same results! Hope that helps.
  17. I don’t know what the water folks are doing, but my normal 3-4 incoming tds is really clean this month. Guess I don’t need to change my resin again for a bit.
  18. I am near Washington Square, will you take paypal to hold it? I will not be free to find you until Friday or Saturday.
  19. What is the pH inside your reactor? I am using the calcite based Triton/KZ marble chips in mine - not necessarily cheap but they don't really melt fast and they have the lowest phosphate boost of any media according to BRS testing. The only problem is it needs a very low pH to melt... under 6. Just a thought if you hadn't looked into it.
  20. I am interested in the battery, where are you located?
