  1. Yeah... just because the first sets weren't stunning enough eh Jody? Those are, indeed, beautiful.
  2. Wow... just wow. It is really cool to see schools of fish in a home reef - I love all the anthias. He had some interesting tang hybrids in there as well. Simply amazing variety of coral too. Makes me feel a little (or rather a lot) inadaquate though!
  3. Man Jody... some of those are just plain crazy. The colors are amazing!

    Vodka Dosing???

Thanks Steve... very interesting info and comparison to the tropical reef scenario. How are those cold water tanks coming these days? I was kind of disappointed when they left SWF but am glad to hear you have them back. I loved to check them out whenever I was in the store. Sorry... back to topic (enforcer)
  5. Yeah... wish I had that as well, then I could replace a couple of the bald tires on my car  I would much rather have this coral though! It is a beauty and a nice price from what I have seen of them (drooler)
  6. Hey Curtis, You might want to check out this comparison chart on controllers... it summarizes a lot of info on several brands/models. May not be completely up to date of course but gives you an idea how the units can differ in features and options. http://www.aquariumcontrollers.com/aquarium-equipment-comparisons.php Sean
  7. Have a good one! Maybe buy yourself some b-day coral (clap)
  8. That is exactly the kind of thing I had in mind Curtis! Holding the two together with carriage bolts is perfect.
  9. I was going to ask about that Looks like a nice clean, straightforward design and should look really sharp with that tank. As for moving it... I wonder if you could adapt it so that you essentially had two separate subframes screwed together - each of which was load bearing - and then skinned and trimmed it in a way that wouldn't be too hard to pull off in the future so you could split it to move it. You could still assemble the two subframes with glued joints for strength. Just thinking out loud here...
  10. Hey nice start Daniel! I have been thinking about something similar for a while but haven't yet pulled the trigger... I will look to you for inspiration (clap)
  11. Hey congrats Curtis... that is going to be one sweet build! I bet the wait is going to kill you though
  12. Hey Curtis, I can't make a brand/model recommendation as I have only been using one for a few months now but I would suggest paying attention to the current/load limitations and requirements for the power strips as this seems to have come up several times lately on other threads. Some of these may not be able to handle the peak current loads of certain ballasts and the mechanical vs. electronic switching of some plugs can impact what you can effectively control with the switch (too little draw and it won't work right). Hopefully some more experienced folk can speak to those points since I have seen them discussed as issues here recently. FWIW - I have been using the Aquatronica I got from Shannon for a few months now and am very impressed with it. The power strip is really solidly built and they are daisy-chainable and can be set up as separate "tank" systems so there is a lot of flexibility. I haven't used the SMS or net interfaces (don't have them) so can't speak to that aspect. Good luck!
  13. Welcome! Glad you found the board and Bob and Dave - they are good guys. I hope your "re-entry" proves to be enjoyable... hard to stay out for long!
  14. (laugh)(laugh) I have to laugh at that... otherwise, I will just start to cry when I look at the numbers. Sorry, didn't mean to pick on you Troy - I figured you would have a sense of humor about it though based on your tag line disclaimer. Glad to see I wasn't too far off (I hope). What I should have said was "... based on the fact that I am patently un-helpful despite my number of posts!"
  15. You can check your own by going to the "User CP" page (first item in the option bar). I don't think you can see that info for others though... anyone???
  16. Well... it's actually both. The "rep" number is largely influenced by post count but the little multicolored squares is reflective of feedback... notice TAD has a lower rep point total than I do based on post count but waaay more little green squares (sad) 'cause he is a very helpful guy!
  17. Hey Shawn, I would take that mystery monti if we can hook up while you are up here - do you know your ETA yet? Also, what color would you say the #2 and #4 chalici (sp?) are? BTW - are you bringing any frags of that rainbow? Thanks! Sean
  18. I tried adding a purple recently and my Scopas did it's best impresonation of a demon possesion I have ever seen in a fish - it went completely bonkers. Fortunately, my wife was able to get the purple out before it came to any harm... unfortunately, I was unable to catch the Scopas. Of course, it went back to it's normal self after the purple was removed - mission accomplished. DOH!
  19. You know Ryan... that would look sweet over your 120!
  20. I love the purples as well. Unfortunately, I can't have one unless I can catch my scopas (plotting)
  21. Easy Daniel... back away from the Tang (enforcer)
