  1. So am I reading correctly that you could put these in a phosban reactor and aim the outlet at the skimmer for best results?
  2. Welcome ! what theyre saying is true...........just go big now. Heck a Yellow tang and a big live rock look great in a 150. I agree with Mike youre in it fo thousands and thousands , try and get used and save thousands. Here I found you a starter tank rght here http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/showthread.php?t=15651
  3. Hey David, everything faired well............probably missed some but they obviously enjoyed the drive
  4. Anyone know what type of plant or algae this is to the right of the yellow arrows.............I need it gone and one yellow tang isnt cutting it, its stiff and bristley and tears off fairly easy but just grows back
  5. Stopped by the other day and I must say thats one of the most impressive setups I have seen.............ever. Have had reef setups since the early 90s and witnessed hundreds of setups and this one is just amazing! Calvin, what was that Monti looking thing front and center that isnt a monti ( really neat colors)?
  6. What happens if you dont pump them every day? Do they have automatic ones? If you left for 2 weeks vacation I would think asking someone to look after this aspect of reefing may shortin the list of available canidates. Not that its tough but some people freak out a lil when they perceive the screwing the pooch and killing thousands of dollars by not doing something quite right. Whats the purpose or function of this reactor........food source for corals??
  7. I invision my dream would be Upscales show tanks. Considering I just dumped over another $1.5 k changing from 200 watt MH to 400 watt and bought $600 of Scott in Albanys emergency evacuation, new sump and protien skimmer, Im sort of tapped for awhile. Now snap a couple off and glue them up and I would probably jump.........but I understand not wanting to frag something so healthy. I am possibly heading to Portland today to check out Kilca's "rig" If not today certainly this week
  8. I bought it with plans to do this somewhere at some point. I got lucky because of how the stairs ruin the theater and the "offset" 12' screen. Lets just say it happened to work in every possible aspect it could. Im really kicking myself for not putting more plumbing in walls and finishing the mechanical room off better but it does have a airhandling unit in there so how pretty can you be I am still miles from being done as you can tell by the HomeTheater rack system, alot of automation goes into this yet and Im still tinkering with stuff in that regard. In the theater I am also going to incorperate some reef seating that is tied into beng a subwoofer fo my twin 18" subwoofer containment
  9. Utterly and completely blown away!!! Do your friends and family head straight to the tanks to see the changes when they stop over? Do you even have an approximation of your investment? I really wish I had kept a detailed accounting of what Ive spent in this hobbie..........wait..........Im glad I didnt
  10. We're out in the sticks, If you go to the coast down 18 we are straight south of McMinnville, through Amity and another 5 minutes south and a little west. Or straight north of Dallas on Perrydale Rd. about 5 minutes past Hwy 22. Basically the sticks with Deer, Elk, cougars, turkey, you name it, we got it. We can be to Salem in 15 minutes, Beavertons about 45min - an hour depending where in Beaverton. I have made it to the Portland airport in 75 minutes before
  11. Anytime, we're probably a good drive for most
  12. Heck, I would make a visit to your setup the reason Im up that way! I have a really good " equiptment room" to expand in the future (Frag tank/super sump-refuge), Im a little packed in where the Bowfront/theater rack is but have a nice area on the other side of the room where I store my junk now. I really wish I had planned better before sheetrock and plumbed in some decent plumbing.
  13. Im very close to Salem, stop in Jasons frequently. you will have to PM me your info and when youre around!!! I live north of Dallas about 5 minutes
  14. Built my bowfront into the theater of my new house...... it was tore down for several years because I was supposed to move to Fiji but thats been put on hold for a while longer it seems ( probably never) Not much in it yet but............plenty of room left for all those corals everyone around here super grows. PM me if you have any good coral for sale!!!
  15. If anyones interested, I can post pics later. Home built and beefy with 1/2" lexan. First chamber has Sock holder. Drilled for external pump with bulkhead and 1" PVC 90 I would still be using it but I wanted my Ca Reactor, Pro-skimmer and Kalk-reactors all in sump and the refugium part of this sump didnt allow for the Ca reactor ( Im really tired of reactors that at some point WILL leak, maybe that should have been my purchase!) Protien Skimmer is a Large Pacific Coast Asking $175 for both and I will throw in an Aquasafe Ro/DI system that needs new filters and media. the lexan to build this sump was $300 a sheet 3 years ago Its been running a 150 gallon bowfront for several years
  16. and none are dual, I have three ballast, for 3 moguls. Two are in white powdercoated boxes with switches and the third is just a ballast I wired a plug to
  17. I have 2 different kinds, Im guessing PFO in the white cases and then I have a black ARO and they all have 250 on them, the ARO actually says 120-250. These seemed fine with my old 125 Gal several years ago, but it seems adding the 6" of depth of the Bowfront might need a lil more "omphf" for the 24" depth
  18. I have 3- 200 watt MH bulbs in a 150 Bowfront and I think the middle one needs to be atleast a 400 watt.
  19. Did the Maroon make a Bee-line back to his Anemone? Hows the Foxface and Hawkfish?
