I put an external pum and now have a huge empty spot in my sump so I want to experiment seeing if a small protien skimmer can help with the duties. Ive heard dual skimmers of different sizes test for different particles skimmed. theres only like 6" of water level in this area

Or info on homemade chillers, summer is just around the corner , Atually Im looking for anything and everything except Protein skimmer, lighting and tank/stand itself

Literally, Kind of a new tank (explain if anyone cares) and I attempted to airbrush some fake coraline on the "wreck" with horrible results ( couple years out of practice, no good colors, and impatient) I had one of these in a 200 acrylic a decade ago and it coralined up very nicely and many creatures attached to it like feather dusters in cannons and such so it will be fun to watch the progress as I "bait" the ship with small chunks ...........Donations welcome!!! Seriously though I have just a few corals as of now and all fairly small so by next year it might be filled up a little better. I really need to learn to snap shots without the glare and I cant seem to get manual focus to work or I would take closeups of what little coral I have

Hello all, While being a noob, I had a successful 200 gallon acrylic coral reef a decade ago but things were different in those days. we used bio balls sumps with plastic in tank skimmers and anyway I think I get used to this new algae cleaning thing with some reading up. I bought a 125 yesterday and its established with live rock, has good purples throughout and seems very healthy, very few fish and an anenome or two and a couple small corals. I am transferring the entire system today and my question is, I have a couple hundred pounds of Live rock ( dead years ago) thats been stored in big coolers, alot of it was Fiji and there is huge chunks of dead yellow, blue and white corals ( large pieces) and some large red pipe organ looking stuff, can I place this in the tank? Its been washed and dryed a decade ago but I think it would re-establish faily well, Im just not sure if it would do anything to the water as far as Alk or pH or phosphates and such
