  1. looks good. one question: is that a bristleworm in the third pic? if so, how big is it? looks huge! I have one in my tank i have been trying to catch for about 6 months thats about 6-7" long.
  2. SO I am purchasing a controller here in two weeks and dont know which one. either the reefkeeper2 or the aquacontroller jr. anyone here use either ? which do you reccomend? The Acjr has the DC8 for controllable outlets and the reefkeeper has the outlets built in. both have the temp probe and lighting controls. both act as wavemakers. reefkeeper2 claims to have "softstart" to be easier on pumps. does either do ATO? If not I will purchase an JBJ ATO at the same time. just need a little personal experiences to help me make up my mind. (scratch)(scratch)(scratch) heres the link for the RK2:http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~SearchStr~~action~view~idProduct~DA1111~idCategory~FITEMOMI~category~Digital_Aquatics_ReefKeeper_2_Controller_Saltwater_Aquarium_Supplies_Testing_Equipment_Monitor_Equipment_Multi_Item_Monitors___Controllers~vendor~.html and for the acjr. :http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem~action~view~idProduct~NS1165~idCategory~FITEMOMI~category~Saltwater_Aquarium_Supplies-Testing_Equipment-Monitor_Equipment-Multi_Item_Monitors___Controllers~vendor~.html all help is appreciated! 3. will you ship it? thats for ballast and sockets or just ballast?
  4. if it was closer to lebanon (where im moving to) I would be all over it. will pm for details. maybe i can move a lil farther north
  5. didnt know waves had thier own ATO.......anyone gotta pic or more info of this item?
  6. lol....ryan....we have this invention called the INTERNET now.......seriously....like......you can find and buy ANYTHING on it......lol(naner)(naner)(hidesbehindsofa) (fishhit) DOH!
  7. on your way to corvallis stop in albany at Albanys amazing aquariums. its on the main drag going thru albany. google it if you want the address or a map. fairly big shop with good prices and lots of misc. parts and such. kinda cluttered and messy but worth the stop.
  8. it will probably freeze over during the winter but koi and goldfish and others can survive it. it wont freeze solid and they will swim about underneath. good idea to go out and break up the ice for gas exchange. When I lived in central oregon I helped people with thier pond maintenance a little bit and most of them froze during winter months. funny to see fish barely moving under ice. lol
  9. I like the idea of ordering salt and such in bulk to reduce our maintenance costs. maybe even a group buy on refractometers and RO/DI units to get everyone on the same basic level of reefkeeping at a discounted price over what they would have to pay on thier own. just a thought.
  10. check out albany aquariums. he usually has return pumps for cheap. 30-40 dollar range
  11. i say get a big tank (240+) and make a cat-aquarium. food, litter box, and toys. they never get out!
  12. great looking tank and nice job on the tower!
  13. its like a standard aga. i will look into doubling hte glass
  14. yes. wont have any cash for a couple weeks and I live two states away.....but other than that yes. how much are you looking to get out of it? I dont even know what they go for new.
  15. its glass. going to be drilled either in the back near the bottom or on the bottom itself. its not tempered so im gonna drill it. want to do dual durso drains behind a half circle overflow like an oceanic. or maybe i will get some black acrylic and build a rect. box. I did that on a tank before but wasnt happy with how the teeth came out. where can i get stuff like that online?
  16. nthe tank turns out to be a Fujimoto out of gardenia, Ca. they have been in business for over 30 yrs. and, I jsut found out from one of thier distributors that they dont temper the bottom glass unless its over 200 gallons. but he said something that made me think. the glass is 1/2 inch but he said that the manuf. doesnt drill the bottom pane with more than one hole unless they double layer the glass. anyone heard of this? 1/2 glass should be able to take more than one 1" hole right? I hope so cuz I have visions of a couple return nozzles coming up thru sandbed. Im going to do 3 holes in back, 2 up higher for a CL and one dead center near bottom for a spraybar. what do you guys think?
  17. what about a large diameter black pvc pipe? like say a 12" diameter peice of drainage pipe split? but I have heard bad things about black pvc in reef setups due to leaching of chemicals? anyone know?

  19. where would i get black acrylic pipe tho? clear acrylic pipe like that used for skimmers costs an arm and a leg
  20. how hard is it to skin a metal frame with wood? I have a 135g that I just got a price quote on a stand for $400+ depending on ur price and how hard it is to skin it with some sheet plywood I may be interested. I will be moving back to the lebanon area in a couple months. I would want it 72" long, 30-36" high, and about 20" f-b. not trying to thread hi-jack or step on anyones toes.
  21. ok....so I am posting this here AND in the general forum so i can get some people seeing it. I want to buy an overflow. but I want one of the ones that come in like an all glass or oceanic tank that are half circle for center-back placement. I checked with all-glass (now called aqueon) and the wont sell me one. Just wondering if anyone has one from an old setup or does anyone have a busted aquarium they can sell one out of ? has anyone seen any in a store maybe in a parts bin? needs to be at least 25" tall. Just putting out an A.P.B. for one.
