  1. thanks for the tip. will check them out
  2. nope....ps 75. its the same one you have that I have got. ran the airstone and it gave me about a 50% increase in bubbles. going to meshmod a maxijet 900 this weekend and see what kind of foam i can get from this cheap little skimmer. I agree the skilter sucks big time
  3. cant really pry them off. you can cut them off at the base or break off the piece of rock hes stuck on. How many gallons and what wattage of MH? how far from the light is the coral? You could get some window screeing like u use at home and put 2-3 layers over top of tank then jsut remove a layer a week. hows the flow in that part of the tank? my Xenia prefers pretty high flow and it seems the higher the flow the faster he pulses...lol
  4. yep....all of the above. pretty much everything EXCEPT for basting turkeys!
  5. love the aquascaping. As for the mushroom not liking MH, If you acclimate the tank carefully (start with a short light period and gradually increase) then He will love the MH and soon you will be giving the baby shrooms away. I have a rock of green shrooms about 8" under a 175 MH and they reproduce like crazy.
  6. switch out the powerhead on the skimmer for a maxijet 600 or 900 and mesh mod it. you will like what it does. I have the ssame skimmer. other option is to run an airstone down the chamber thru the collectioncup holes and hook it up to an airpump. that will give you better results as well. welcome to the forums!
  7. after I move back to oregon I am going to setup my 25g tall tank for seahorses. its like 28" tall so should work nicely. doing research about habitats and car right now. I will hit you up in a few months when I am ready and see if you have any available then. thanks.
  8. I have sun coral in my tank and I just take a 1 liter bottle that I have cut the bottom off of and put it over the coral and then shoot the food into the top of the bottle. I dont feed it alot of food and the crabs take care of whatever makes it to the sand after I remove the bottle. I generally dont target feed mine every day like this but when i feed I shoot some mysis at it or cyclopleeze with a turkey baster. Im sure it would grow faster if I would target feed it every day but its in a nano so for now, slow growing is ok for me.
  9. any interest in just selling the system? I am moving back to oregon in a couple months and am looking for something similar.
  10. 12 bux online....i threw mine away and bought a new one when it stopped working well. that was for freshwater....still unsure as to why it got gunked up....
  11. I like the PVC how it came out as well. I had been kicking around that idea for some time but didnt have a tank to try it out on when I suggested it to you. now I am on the hunt for a 100 gal acrylic cube to do the same...lol
  12. they work ok. i have one and its a pain to get into the curved corners of the glass. check these out. http://www.nimblenano.com/ made by some guy but work awesome. lots of people at Reefcentral and nano-reef.com use them. much easier to clean the glass corners of the all-in-one tanks. I have been meaning to order one but other things keep coming up.
  13. is there something scaring your goby? what other fish do you have in there? I have a 3" diamond goby in my Biocube 29g with NO top on it and e has never jumped. hardly goes up top come to think of it. I second the nass snails.....fun to see thier little snorkels coming out of the sand especially at feeding time, its like a herd of submarines surfacing...lol
  14. lol.....gsp will win that battle every time. my gsp drowned out some green polyps and some sunburst zoas.....my new trick is to get the GSP to grow up the false wall in my biocube. hoping to cover wall like some 70's psychadelic shag carpet....lol FWIW....GSP is easy to remove if its not where you wnt it. mine always kinda peels off the rock like some strange silly putty. theni can put the mat wherever i want.
  15. looks good. is that a purple plate coral on the sandbed right side? any more info on it? my wife would love something that color in our tank. Im gonna keep an eye out for one if thats what it is.
  16. dont overfeed and keep up on your water changes and you wont need a skimmer. Most skinmmers that fit a tank of that size (with the exveption of the tunze nano skimmer) are not worth a crap anyhow. its hard to get good skimming with limited size cuz you got no room for bubbles with a small reaction chamber and little or no bubbles equals little or no skimming. looking good so far. I will be moving to the lebanon area in a couple months and have some nice green mushrooms, kenya tree, and maybe some zoos to get you started. good luck.
  17. I personally like it better. If thats a crocea clam tho he would brefer to be back in the rockwork from what I have read. but i like the more vertical rockwork as it gives you more options for coral mounting and detracts your eyes away from the back of the tank. looks good.
  18. Its averaging 107 here during daytime and 90 at night so I know what you are talking about. I am running a 29gal biocube with a 175 mh over it so heat and especially evap are my concerns. So far AC has held its own and my temps stay at 81 during the day. but I have had to use frozen waterbottles in the past. my problem is the 1-1.5 gallon PER DAY evap on a 29 gal tank. gonna order my ATO this weekend as Im sick of constantly checking the water level. lol
  19. ok....so its between the Jr and the RKII.
  20. anyone ever ordered from this site? $10 frags and decent shipping. guy in the local club here says they are top notch quality and service. http://www.elitereefs.com/ check them out. I got some stuff on order from them will post pics when i get it.
  21. that looks awesome....not sure if the wife will kill me if i spend more on my controller than i did on my initial tank...lol
  22. get a few layers of window screen material to put over the tank and then every few days to a week take a layer off. if you get 4 layers then it will take like 3-4 weeks to remove them. that should give the corals plenty of time to adjust.
  23. yeah.... I looked at that site and it kind of boggled the mind with all the info. I am looking to control lights, fans, moonlights, wavemaker feature, PH probe......and be able to adjust the settings via a computer rather than the interface built in. Basically I am looking to automate my system as much as possible without going overboard on technical stuff. The ACIII seems to have alot of feature that I dont forsee using anytime soon. Any idea when the new controllers are due out so i can start looking for a used one?
  24. what does the ACIII do that the JR doesnt besides the ethernet connection?
  25. aquatronica looks out of my price range. not a whole lot of info on thier website about what it exactly does. Andy, you have me leaning away from the ACjr now.....but at least im leaning one way or the other ...lol
