  1. Jebao are super quiet and inexpensive. I have 4 and one went bad after 2+ years. I think if I had cleaned it more frequently, it would still be working. Sent from my SM-N950U1 using Tapatalk
  2. Nice! When I asked about this one, he told me it's already sold. Sent from my SM-N950U1 using Tapatalk
  3. Got a nice Oregon tort... 4th or 5th time's the charm. [emoji1696] Sent from my SM-N950U1 using Tapatalk
  4. Apparently I celebrated too soon. :( As the tank gets darker, make crosshatch got moody and started to chase the parrot fish around. Luckily, I was able to remove the parrot fish before it lose too many scales. I'm going to let it recover a bit in the frag tank before doing to social box again. 5. Last night the triggers were resting in their cave and all the tangs seem peaceful, I couldn't resist and released the parrot fish. As sunrise starts, triggers came out of their cave and parrot fish swam off the sandbed. Initial, only my Regal angel gave it the cold shoulder, but as the light intensity increased male trigger gave it a series of quick nudges. The tangs took turns to check it out. By mid morning, only the male trigger still showed some interest with short darts toward it. By noon, all seems well so I decided to clean the glass and get some pictures with my big DSLR.
  6. Guess I'll have to be extra careful when hand feeding my tank with flakes. My female trigger draws blood every once in awhile when she caught my finger. Hopefully, I can keep it's color with variety of prepared food and DIY seafood spirulina mix. Now, I' a little worry it might chop away all my rocks. I don't have that much to start off with. Might need to just let my montiporas grow instead of trimming them back in the future. Can't wait till I let it out of the social box.
  7. Stopped by CnC, there are lots of cool corals and fish. So hard to leave empty handed... Got a gorgeous parrotfish... Jeff didn't have to twist my arms too much. Haha Did my usual fish dip then into the social box. First 20mins or so my crosshatch triggers we're super curious. Now they're all calm but I suspect there'll be a short initial chase when I let it out in a few days. Sent from my SM-N950U1 using Tapatalk
  8. Check out my old post, it has all build info. http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/topic/40063-ats-design-possible-workshop/&share_tid=40063&share_fid=1820&share_type=t Sent from my SM-N950U1 using Tapatalk

  12. I like big snails, I can not lie... 😂 I'll take it for $5.
  13. I like Design Sparks Mechanical. It's free and short learning curve. I use it for my main 3D CAD works. FreeCAD is useful when you need to import/export to different formats. I haven't actually design with it. It's UI seems odd to me. OpenSCAD is code base 3D model, very flexible. Advantages are you can change your design easily by change variable constants. You'll need to have good mental image of what you want and translate that to programming. Sent from my SM-N950U1 using Tapatalk

  16. Anyone experiencing very slow load time using Tapatalk android app? Other forums using tapatalk load up very quickly, just pnwmas is slow.
  17. I too have been battling dino. This is what I have been doing and it seems to be working. 1. Use turkey baster to blast off the dino off rocks every other day. Only had to this three times. 2. Increase flow and move my wave up closer to the surface so it would suck in some air. It's noisy. Got this tip from Erin at All Things Aquarium. That's suppose to help bond the dino to bubbles to get them to the sump for skimmer to remove. 3. Wet skim so it drips every couple secs. Fills my 5 gal skimmer waste bucket every 1.5 days. Top off fresh salt if sump level gets too low. 4. Grow algae scrubber/cheato and clean weekly. Take all cheato out and rinse out the dino weekly. I still feed my fish as usual. Dino is not completely gone but doesn't cover the rocks and corals anymore and just a little on the sandbed during the day. Good luck!
  18. Clams need a lot more light than sps corals. Once acclimated to your light spectrum, place it as close to the lights as possible. Always give a new clam a good scrub with toothbrush to remove any pests. I would not place any new clams directly on live rock because few weeks later if you discover your clam have pyramid snails, you'll need to be able to remove the clam to give it another scrub, possibly monthly. My experience is these pyramid snails can survive about 2 weeks without a host. It takes about 2-4 weeks for pyramid eggs to develop into easily visible snails. After you're sure your tank is free of pyramid snails, then I would place the clam directly on live rock.
  19. I've been redesigning to make it more slim which require custom heatsink cooling solution. At the same time, hard to keep the cost down with custom parts. These couple months, I've been redesigning over and over again to keep cost down and keep the profile slim. I've gone through 5 completely different PCB designs and several heat solution designs. I think I'm getting close. What do you guys think of plastic enclosure with full glass bottom? This would be closest to MacBook/Surface Pro look with uni-body. I play with the idea of uni-body aluminum but the cost is way too prohibiting. Other option is to use metal enclosure but will have exposed screws and seams. Also, what are you guys take on light spillage? Personal, I hate light spillage but I also like to hang my lights high up for easier access to inside the tank. I've design a parabola lens for each individual LEDs but this will increase the overall height by 10-12mm. This is my latest mock up. Daniel
  20. Got to the meeting late...haha Got a large maxima and derasa from Erin.
  21. wow.. 4 printers! Which ones did you get? I'm using Robo 3D R1+ which is based off Marlin firmware. There are a lot of new features added in the latest version but I haven't bother upgrading the firmware yet. Yes, a lot of TLC is required. There are a lot of settings (1st layer z offset, extrusion offset, and calibrating xyz distance) to figure out. Once they are good, I haven't had to touch those. Have you run into PLA clogging? I ended up making an oiler and seem to fix it. I though of addition filament detector so it would pause when it ran out of filament until I change it out then resume. Now, I just guess if there's enough to finish the print. Which slicer are you using? I tried different ones but I still like Slic3r the most. It's probably the most complex in terms of settings but I kinda like that control over simplicity, but I wish they had option to delete part of the support for complex prints.
  22. The bulk of the cost is the LEDs and components. Even just importing just the LEDs and components in the USA for assembling will still incur the 25% tariff on the bulk of the cost. Plastic injection is all done by machine, so cost difference is very little if those parts are made in China or USA, but if made in China I can use some recycled plastic vs 100% virgin plastic to be more eco-friendly. We send most of our recycled plastic oversea.
  23. I am trying very hard to bring top of the line specs at very competitive price. Just found out the trade war with China is on... 25% tariff! Just about to work out all the production issues and now this. [language filter]! 😡 http://money.cnn.com/2018/05/29/news/economy/china-tariffs/index.html Sorry for my rant...
