  1. Well I'm glad you feed your tank because I ALWAYS feed mine. It just might be the way you go about feeding your tank may make the difference. Level with me here: Tangs are grazers. grazers eat constantly because they have a shortER digestion tract compared to other fish. Therefore they poop constantly as well. So instead of having 2 heavy feedings a day; having more (4+), less heavy feedings would meet the behavioral demands of a tang. Thus reducing the probability of the tang eating other things (corals) I mean, if the tang is eating zoos when you are feeding it, you have a zoo eater. If the tang is eating zoos inbetween meals, it is most likely hungry and have to resort to those [language filter] stinging, sliming round things in your tank that grows on the rock, kinda how and where algae grows as well!!! Please don't feel as if I am picking on you Jody. I just wanted to inform you and others on how to properly take care of our animals. I mean, this is an educational site and we learn and teach things to people everyday. I'm just doing my part as a member. Good Luck with the tang.
  2. I read in an article, when tangs and other fish go bad, it's due to underfeeding your fish. I mean, why eat stinging food while you can have nice non-stinging good tasting food? Unless the tang gets an adrenalin rush when it gets stung. It could be addictive! Wait, does fish have adrenalin?
  3. John you are just filled with some old time nostalgic knowledge.
  4. Yeah, that sounds good. I wouldn't mind a culture of each (nanno, iso, and tetra) because they have different types of nutrition and different highly saturated fatty acids in each.
  5. I think Andrew has some. He works at Miller Paint on 9th st. so go in and talk to him.
  6. is there any more phyto cultures around? I wouldn't mind getting my rotifers going.
  7. my dual timer is half broken. One of the timers don't work after about 3 months into it. I'm still using it for a little over a year. At least the other timer still works.
  8. I got some rotifer eggs. With some nano or something I can start culturing my own stuff too.
  9. Yeah I had a rainfordi and a hectori together in the same tank and the larger rainfordi I think beat the hectori to death. But that same rainfordi is still with me until today. I got my big fat healthy rainfordi at Waves. I mean it's the biggest rainfordi that I've seen and so has everyone who has seen my tank. Just make sure you have pretty fine sand and lots of it. Not to mention I saw mines eating some red hair algae, and I'm sure they eat green hair algae as well.

    Magnifica!

Yeah Jordan, don't be selfish and share the fun with the rest of us out here. Let me attest that those magnificas are really awesome in person.
  11. when I had my 120 I loved the 6' length, but not the 18 inches front to back. I also really like the tall tanks. When I get my dream reef tank it's going to be at least 30" top to bottom. You've got long arms so you could pull off a 30" tank. I'd go for a 180, but if you like the tall tanks just like me, go with the 210 (or something like that). Just save the 75 for a refugium or frag tank. That way you have the sand filtration, yet the BB that you love.
  12. Ok, I'll just PM you the day before. I'll be there after the civil war for sure. Go Beavs (rock2) (naner)
  13. Hey Bill, I PMed you about what I have in mind. Where did you get that calcium reactor?
  14. Joel thanks mucho. Joel is always there for the club and club members, IMO more so than other sponsors. It is just what "I" notice, but could be proven wrong. Like the DJ powerstrips for example. Much Mahalos Man.
  15. Here we go. The scroll actually looks better than that. It used to be in the corner until i took it out for the picture. Not to mention the rainfordi always filtering sand over the scroll. The first lord is the mother colony and the second is the actual frag. I've treated for red bugs and acro eating flat worms. Then I put all of my corals through the coral dip just in case. So everyone is pretty much parasite free and I feel confidant about trading.
  16. For some reason the quick reply box at the bottom of the screen is blank and when I click on the reply button the box in the next page is blank as well. What's up, is it me or is everyone else having the same problem too.
  17. Is there anyone I can send these pictures for them to be resized. I'm not picture savy.
  18. I got a frag of an acan lordhowensis with about 12-15 polyps and a purple scroll coral about 7in. across that I would like to get rid of. Looking to trade for some SPS, LPS, ricordia, yuma, cool zoos, fish, and/or equipment. I'll sell the lordy for $6/polyp and $30 for the scroll. I'll try take pictures tomarrow(lights off now), but I've got an Organic midterm tomarrow and biochem midterm on Friday. Let me know what you got. I MIGHT go to the meeting on Sunday, but that's not for certain yet. LMK.
  19. I'll take the salt if you don't want it. I know someone who could use it.
  20. I've read that more flow is more important than higher light levels. Makes sense to me.
  21. Yes, you need to get rid of that air pocket or else you won't be getting the full flow of the U-tubes. If it was a problem with the pump pumping too much water in the tank, the water level in the chamber with your down tubes would be very high. It's an issue where not enough water is getting into the outside box. Just take some airline, stick it up into the air pocket and suck out the air. I'm almost certain that will do the trick.
  22. Well I checked my Seachem the Reef Salt these are the numbers: Salinity: 1.023 Calcium: 500ppm Alkalinity: 7 DKH Mag: 1650ppm I like the calcium and mag, but I would like to have the alk. @ 10 DKH
  23. Yeah, I got the same thing and you constantly have to clean the tube connected to skimmate box in order for it to work, PERIOD. If you don't clean, it will work very little or not at all. I personally keep the skimmate box a little on the high side and clean it every or every other week.
