  1. Well I've just tried Seachem Reef Salt. Before I was just using IO. Check back on me later to see a difference or not.
  2. I've got a bigger reef tank than that back home, I just didn't want to brag about it. I named it the Pacific.
  3. yeah, one time I was fishing on the Big Island, and I saw 3 achilles tangs swim right in front of me. That would have paid for half of my ticket right there.
  4. FROM THE ANIMAL HOUSE. Ha ha ha. Yeah, I think this Christmas break I plan on enjoying it, not trying to catch a net full of nothing. Although if I caught 2 rare Hawaiian adult Emperor angles, it would be enough to pay for my trip, including the shipping costs. Anyone want some zebra hermit crabs? They are easy to catch. LOL.
  5. too nerdy for me J dawg. nah, just joke. It fun to watch.
  6. that won't be a good selling fish in a LFS.
  7. Yes, for those of you out there that have no idea of the species Jordan just mentioned, they are absolutly stunning. Of course Jordan has a colection of pictures of these clowns that he showed me, and I wish he is to show everyone else here so everyone can appreciate these clownfish. As for hormones Jordan, I know Dale might have some at his house. He bought out a guys back house filled with chemicals to breed his clowns. I don't know if Dale even has them, but it would be a try.
  8. I am writing this in public to put pressure on the officers of PNWMAS for immediate action. Either in expeltion of this sponsor, enforcement of changes of behavior of the sponsor, or the removal of me(Palani) from this club. I have been withholding the disgust within me for the past year. I as well as many others on this forum, know of the unethical practices on the marine aquatic animals and false information given in one of our sponsor's store. I feel ashamed to be called a part of this club as long as we(PNWMAS) acknowledge this LFS in question, is a sponsor of PNWMAS. Not only does this discourage potential members, but it also discredits us(PNWMAS) as an "educational club." I will admit that I have purchased animals in the past from this LFS, but that was before I knew about the Marine Aquatic Council (MAC) certifications, and what harm these animals in this store were put through. I am not blaming the officer/s involved in admiting this store, mainly because they just don't shop there due to distance and time conflicts. So the officers just simply, don't know what has been happening. There is just a list of unethical practices used in this store that I hope none of the members and other sponsors would consider. First of all, the "bag sales." This person keeps the marine aquatic animals in bags for hours to days of being delivered. He says that he puts in new oxygen every day, but why is the metal band still there from the distributor(the LFS's know what I'm talking about), and why is the bag partially deflated? (It could be that he has a metal bagger thingy that the distributor uses, but wouldn't the bag be nice and inflated from the oxygen? You add it together.). The animals are usually swimming in its own filth, and the pH would have dropped dramatically from all of the ammonia, causing stress to the fish and very high death rates from being aclimated. Not to mention the decrease of oxygen and the build up of CO2. Secondly, there is minimal life being supported in the marine tanks(in the ailes). The tanks are pretty much empty or there are fish dead or dying. It's obvious that this sponsor has no regard to the health of the fish. Nor has the sense to suscessfully treat fish(and tanks) for diseases. As for the corals that he kept, they would slowly wither away due to a lack of flow and refusal to change worn out metal halide bulbs. The lack of flow is completely my opinon, but if you question my opinon you are more than welcome to come on down to check out my tank. Lastly, the false information given and the lack of current information given to beginner and as well as seasoned aquarists. Of course the seasoned aquarists know other wise (you know who you are), but it kills the spirit of the beginner that never has any "luck" with the hobby. It is the only LFS that has NO books in stock in fear of the sponsor being proved wrong by hobbists. I know of people on this forum that had to take a book from home and show this sponsor that he was wrong, and still said that he was right, even with the evidence in his face! My favorite one was when he told a beginner aquarist to use an undergravel filter for filtration. That was top of the line back in the 50's pal. This is where I say, how is this an educational club, while we support stores that give incorrect information and a lack of current information. It would not bother me as much if he had the willingness to learn new things, but it's the stubboness of him thinking that he is always correct is the problem. It is people like this one that gives out hobby a bad wrap. I know there are other reasons, but these are the ones that presented to me as I write this at 1:30AM. I will publicaly appologize to the club and the officers for the pressures I am putting on you and us. As I said eariler, I do not put blame on the officers becasue of the previously told reason. I could not withhold the truth much longer and let innocent aquarists and marine animals fall victim to his quote on quote "expertise." I have grown sick and tired of looking at discouraged aquarists as a direct result of this man's "help." As a current(paid) member, at a future meeting I would like this to be presented as one of the topics of discussion.
  9. Well, it's got some calcium.
  10. Ok, I've got all of the frags fragged. Can't wait to see you at the meeting.
  11. Cool, is this all of the people I am trading with? Bob, Mike, and Shawn. LMK.
  12. Ok, for those that I have already made arrangements with, what did you want? Just making sure, because I'll be making frags today. So respond ASAP.
  13. Hey, I'm calling to come over and check it out.
  14. I'm going to check the labatory catalogs to see if I can get it from them (hopefully for cheaper).
  15. so for the same price as a macro lens you can use it with out and with a camera. That's a deal to me.
  16. Wait, wouldn't you have to buy a $400-$500 macro lens on top of the digi camera? The way I see it is that you can still use the mesoscope w/o the camera, while the macro lens can only be used with the camera.
  17. Well if they make a mounting system for the camera that I have, it would be worth it I think. You could use it with the naked eye and you can use it to take pictures. 2 in 1 for roughly the same price. Score (I think anyways).
  18. In the September issue of Fish Magazine it says that you can hook it up on a digital camera. I would like to see more of these around. BTW, how much is a good macro lens cost anyways?
  19. Does anyone have, or any LFS carry mesoscopes? I read that these are macrolens to be used by the naked eye and have attachments to be used by digital cameras. It has a suction cup to stick to your tank and it says it even can observe the zooanthelle on you sps! I was just wondering what the prices are on something like this. I'll let my gf know that it's for educational purposes. LOL.
  20. Nyles I would like to trade with you for that yellow monti. I've also got that huge lobophilia I want to trade/sell.
  21. Well, just put it on my tab, or make me a tab with 4 dollars.
  22. Cool, at my work we got in some Pancake tortoises and some soon to be on the endangered list ornate turtles. The pancakes look freakishly thin. yikes!
  23. Was it that one mili looking one that was next to the cash register?
