  1. Have you tested for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates? If it smells, it's because of the dead organisms on it. Is the water clear or murkey? If it's murkey you deffinatly have to "cure" it again (or cycle it through), and I would add in some carbon to deactivate all of the slime and other stuff. This way you might have at least some good living organisms left. It's usable,... after some time.
  2. Ha, not to hyjack your thread, but I went to Waves and got a frag and a good colony for under $40. Pics of them right now will not do them any justice, cause I got them under 6500K MH in my coral QT. If anyone's looking for a slimer Joel's got one with 7, yes I said 7 branches coming out of the top. And it's only in the $15 section! And for $75 for 2 colonies, that's $37.50 a colony!!! Not including our membership discount on livestock!! Just wanting to spread the wealth here, I'm not hating on anyone's shop, but look at the deals. We are all up for the deals, right? Oh yeah, not to mention, it's some pretty stuff too.
  3. Well true dat (about the softies with the stonies). I've also got some chaeto. I'll PM you.
  4. Yes it is deffinatly worth coming out. You might want to only get some hardy ones (corals) for today, but at least you'll meet people that could be potential traders. Not to mention that they will be giving away frag door prizes. What type of lighting do you have? What is the size of your tank? As for livestock I would start with some softes first (and MAYBE some LPS) and take it slow. I think I might have some stuff for sale for you. I've got a green candy cane that's making a third head as we speak. I've also got a favia that is red with light green centers. It's about the size of your fist. I've also got a frag of an umbrella coral. Just PM me if you are interested.
  5. Did you guys try the new Henry's Summer Ale? I just had one today and it tastes just like an orange.
  6. I think it was Miles who asked that same question. I'm not sure.
  7. I've got 2 Icecap fans for sale that have a temp. probe that determines the fan speed. PM me if you want a cheap price.
  8. Yeah, just give it a little over a week and I'm sure you'll see some improvment with that purple one. Good Luck.
  9. Hey Miles as for the purple one is concerned. Don't start worrying about the tissue growing back. It usually takes about a week or two till it will start. I had a stag just RTN a little bit on me. I made sure I fed it frozen cyclops and dosed the tank with DT's. In a little time the tissue started to come back. That's the next thing I would do, is to increase its metabolic rate by feeding it some photoplankton, rotifers, or cyclops. Just take a turkey baster and just bast the "stuff" all of it. Oh yeah, I also used that coral sanitiser, which consists mostly of iodine, to kill off any bad bacteria that could be deteriorating the tissue. I would do that first, but then again I don't know what that stuff you dipped the slimer in earlier.
  10. Holy smokes Miles, how many yumas do you have on that one rock?
  11. Hey chief, did you want to trade a frag of the green w/black and white mouth and/or the orange and cream zoas for a frag of the blue/purple subulata?
  12. Good to hear Miles, everyone, I still got 2 more frags to go!
  13. Hey Brit, what do you want for the xenia, unknown acro, and pink acro? I've retried to ID the frags that I do have, and this time I do believe it's a blue acropora subulata. I've got 2 frags mounted and ready to go. SO ALL OF THE GUYS THAT TOOK FRAGS OF THE BLUE "TENIUS," IMPUR, LOWMAN, AND R3, I think it's a subulata. You guys might want to try to ID it yourselfs as well. Let me know how well those frags are doing.
  14. All of the fish will not be any bigger than 3 inches, except the clowns. Oh yeah, FYI my secretive/dissapearing wrasse jumped out my my qt tank today. Sad day. I don't know why they misnamed such an interesting wrasse. It was not secretive what so ever. As for the Carpet I was wanting it to have the whole floor to itself. I have been thinking about this tank and was also thinking about doing an Oceanic cube tank or some cube around 30-60 gallons as well. Maybe I can put my sps in there.
  15. acrylic hey I'v got some scrape pieces at my old house. Give me a call.
  16. Amazing Roger? Well I had my eye on an acrylic hex., so HA.
  17. Now that I'm moving I need to down size. I've decided to do a 60 gal hex with ritteri and carpet anenomes. It's going to be a semi-aggresive tank with 5 damsels, a pseudochromis, a pair of clownfish, a flame hawk, my secretive wrasse, potter's angel and maybe some large gobies. It is going to be a full reef with a large coral banded shrimp (I'm sure he can hold his own) and LPS, SPS, and some softies. I decided on this tank because I needed a new scenery. 95% of reef tanks are rectangular (and for good reasons too). But I want to try something different (just like my black sand that I tried). I will be making a rock structure mostly out of large pieces of Tonga branching LR that will go about 80-90 per cent of the height of the tank. I'll have out croppings that will house stangs for the damsels. As for lighting I was thinking about a 250watt de MH because of the depth. I think they are about 30" deep. I'll have a sump of some sort. I'm not exactly sure what size will fit in there. I was wondering of some type of skimmer I could use that does at least a 100 gallons. I like the becket type of skimmer, but could also try like a aqua remora HOB type or something else. Please let me know what you think, may it be good or bad, or maybe some better ideas. The thing is that I want to try this hex tank. I've seen an example 35 hex. that my friend has and that has inspired me to do this one.
  18. Hey Cormac, where did you get that 70w mh retro kit from? I'm trying to find one over here. No one carries it except on the internet. LMK.
  19. Hey Cormac, I am getting into the nano tanks again and saw this awesome thread. I just got hold of a 24 nano cube. I'm going to put a 70w MH and about 3 X 36 PC. When I get started I'll let everyone know of my build. Nice seeing you again. jansen
  20. I am looking to buy a controller for my tank, and I was wondering about the Octopus 4000. I heard all of the large public aquariums use them. Let me know if you or anyone has tried them. Thanks.
  21. Yes I'm also an Xbox live fanatic. I think the future of gaming is going to be online, playing with real people than a computer. Halo 2 has so much bad mouthing it just turns me off. Now I play battlefield 2 online. Keith knows how bad a$$ BF 2 is. If you like complicated first shooters, this is the game for you. I love it.
  22. Nice to see everyone again on this site. Maybe Krux can use some orange and black on the site. They contrast quite well. LOL.
