juan
Hey everyone, maybe someone can help me find some 4x6 acrylic sheets about 3/4 or 1 inch think? Or maybe know the right place to go to?
Micah
The only place I can think of is Tap Plastics. It'll be pretty pricey, but they'll cut to size.
Vis
TAP has an off cuts bin for cheap.
Micah
Yeah, as long as he means 4 inches by 6 inches.
juan
Ok cool thanks I’ll call tomorrow. 4ft by 6ft, I was estimating around 6 to 7 hundred bucks??
Micah
You'll likely have to pay for the full 4x8 sheet. I have no idea what that'll cost though! Let us know after you find out. I'm morbidly curious.

Vis
Try Professional Plastics in Tualatin. They have large off cuts.
Parzifal
Second piedmont plastics. Tap plastics is more than twice as expensive as Piedmont plastics.
juan
Ok so I went to tap, and they wanted $1070 I believe for a 4’x8’ 1”thick. I was going to pick it up on Monday but if piedmont is half the price I’ll give them a call before. Thanks again guys.
Parzifal
At tap I was quoted over $500 for a 1/4” 4’x8’ sheet. At piedmont it was $170.
juan
Ok so piedmont was way cheaper, literally half the price from tap. $542 for a full 4’x8’ 1” thick sheet. Cool guys thanks.

Cool guys thanks. I don't know what you are going to use that for but at that price, you have extruded acrylic which is NOT, i repeat NOT suitable for aquariums. You need cast acrylic for aquarium construction. A sheet of 1" cast is going to be about $900 on a good day. (the good days ended in 2020 by the way).

Not even 3/4" that would be .750 receipt says .708........ I do see the cast though........

I was thinking the same thing, except I found a reference on a site selling clear cast acrylic, 3/4" thick sheets (0.708)... Heck, maybe acrylic is like lumber. A "2x4" is less than 2 inches x 4 inches. https://www.regionalsupply.com/itemdetail/?itemCode=ACR CLR 0.750 CAST 48X96
cjmdh
Think it is all in millimeters converted to the closest inch measurement. 0.708" is 18mm. If you get 1/8" thick it is actually 0.118" or 3mm. Edited June 19, 2022 by cjmdh
