J-Dog
New tank is looking good! What are the 3 outlets coming off of your return pump going to be used for?
Mohaynow
Bummer about the sps. You should of used an elbow to put the sump in sideways instead of straight out like that. Would of saved some room for a bigger sump. The new tank looks good! We'll need to see some more pics once things get settled.
kriz2fer
New tank is looking good! What are the 3 outlets coming off of your return pump going to be used for? One is for my bio pellets reactor, one is for my calcium reactor and the other is for my carbon reactor.

frankb
Sorry to hear that you've lost some SPS corals. It is a love and hate hobby. I lost quite a few in the last couple of weeks due to the fluctuations of alkalinity. Mine dropped all the way down to 5 and some of them just bleached out within a day or two. I hope you will bounce back with more corals in your new tank.
nelsz3
Sorry about the loss, that sucks but the new tank looks nice the aqua scape is really good, hope the others adjust well for you
Derbird
Sorry to hear about your losses :( It sucks to lose fish and coral, by far the worst part of the hobby (sad) On the bright side your new tank looks awesome. Very open and clean setup
Smann
Do you have any idea why you lost the corals, I've changed set ups a few times and lost a Shrimp or a small fish but never any coral or large fish
kriz2fer
Yeah I do. The first thing I did wrong was I had the live rock out of water while I was gluing the sps, this caused a lot of die off from the rock which caused my ammonia to spike VERY high. The other thing I did wrong was not having the new water heated up enough, I think it was at 72F. My wife put a lot of pressure on me to get the tank out on sunday so I had to rush the make up water. Bicyclebill
Dude, the new tank layout and rockwork look awesome, but that absolutely sucks to loose all that livestock! Thanks for sharing your two mistakes; I would not have thought about the rocks out of the water.
omarortiz
That is rough that you lost so many corals. My sympathies to you. I too am curious about the details of your move just to know what to expect from something like that with SPS corals.

TRENT
Very nice setup Chris. Very clean. How are the corals doing now that everything is settled in?
omarortiz
BTW, here is that valve that prevents back flow. BRS sells a variety of them... it is called a true union check valve. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/store/true-union-swing-check-valve.html
reefnjunkie
Yes very clean looking, I had that going at one time, many tanks ago-LOL Just curious, what was the reason (if any) for the decision to change to the dosing? I thought about it myself but the cost was prohibitive on my scale-it was however "neat" to see my PH in the 8.26 range when I was dosing the soda ash from BRS. Looking good thats for sure
ZachS
Everything looks great, would love to come check it out sometime. Don't have too many salem area reefers to look at
kriz2fer
Got the bubble magus pumps all setup and the dosing will begin. The three parts Here is the doser monuted and set

Looking good thats for sure Man at our old place I had a tank room. There was holes drilled in the wall and all the equipment was mounted in the room behind the tank. Now I have just a stand to place things and with a little baby always trying to open the stand doors, things get crazy with a co2 bottle just sitting there so I moved on to dosing. Its really simple with a stand alone doser, you just set it to how many ml you want per day and it splits the dose into as many times as you choose. kriz2fer
Ok so time to switch up the lighting. I bought an ATI powermodule 54x8...the light looks super fresh. After a year with radiums I needed a change.
Mohaynow
Im glad you decided to go with the powermodule, I love my sunpower, but if I had the money I would go with a powermodule.
