With the amount of people asking if I would part the tank out, I'm seriously thinking about it. I'm a bit sad to let this huge part of my life go, and having trouble doing it, but I might part it out. That said, I will need to make sure the lives I've been taken care of are safe before I start selling things like return pumps etc.

August Meeting/BBQ — COVID Precautions
Hincapiej4 replied to SuncrestReef's topic in Meetings and Events
As someone who is vaccinated and has watching this covid thing pretty actively from the beginning, AND probably had covid before we knew it was a thing, I wouldn't be upset if you postponed it. I wouldn't want my birthday present to be that someone got covid or I helped spread, or got covid myself. lol -
The reason I mentioned synbiotic is not just because of the extra stuff in it or the salt itself. It's because it has a mild carbon dosing in the salt that will carbon dose for you, will help, and actually works. Last I checked, my Nitrates were 4 and phos was .03. Never been that low, anywhere near, with red sea. And I always ran a refug, and did try nopox at one point.
-
Well shoot. I should try this lol
-
May I make a suggestion? Try the Syn-biotic salt. It's what I use the first time I switched I noticed a big difference in my coral health. Then stock was hard to get and had to use Red Sea blue, corals looked mad. After a few months finally got some synbiotic and everything puffed up happy again. I thought it had to be just my imagination. Then I gave some of the salt to a friend I made at an LFS, just to see his reaction. And he saw the same thing, his corals were much happier. Try it, it might help. I could be convinced to give you some.

It is an Red Sea XL300. I am dosing KH and CA, at one point..before dosing nopox, the tank was eating 34ml+ alk a day. After NOPoX....lowest was 5ml... I never really had too much algae issues before nopox, I only dosed it to try to control nitrates. It pissed off my tank, and I have now stopped my Nopox. Uptake is nowhere near what it was. Sitting around 15mil usage. I am surely using a refugium, the cheato growth had slowed down since NOPOX which is expected, but is starting to possibly speed up again. I have a feeling that NOPOX really messed with my PH. It's used to always sit around 8.3 or so on it's own. I'm having trouble getting it stable again, but I've gone back to what I was doing before, so I expect that at some point, it will be back to what it was. I check my ALK uptake daily since my normal usage was double what it is now, and I don't want to be surprised.
-
Yea. I've had people say the calcium uptake is huge on a clam, but for me, it's the alk that's it's sucking down. Haha
-
I actually am kinda new! About to be a year in February hehe. I just study constantly and keep a close eye on my tank.
-
Hehe , thanks! Oddly enough, it's my alk that the clam impacted the most in my tank.

Hello, I'm in Milwaukie area. Not sure what to say, but here's a video of my tank. It's a bit different now since the video is a few months old, but you get the idea.
