  1. I have 45 gallons on hand. I'm in far SW Beaverton on Cooper Mountain.
  2. I got mine at Green Concepts Containers in Gresham. They have a huge selection of every shape & size of storage containers. They advertise on Craigslist where you can see a lot of their selection: https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bfd/d/portland-green-concepts/6921696553.html 2227 NW Eleven Mile Ave, Gresham, OR 97030
  3. These are from my Nikon D610 camera with a Nikon 200mm f/4 macro lens. It's a ridiculously overkill setup for coral photography, but it works well for me. You can see a lot more of my macro shots with this lens here:
  4. Unfortunately not all heaters have their own built-in thermostat.
  5. Ouch. SO sorry to hear this. 😞 This has been one of my biggest worries, and so far I've religiously double-checked everything before walking away from my tank to make sure everything is set to Auto. As an added failsafe, I have set up my Apex with a few virtual outputs I use for maintenance tasks as master On/Off switches. This allows me to leave all the critical components set to Auto, and the programming turns them off when I'm doing maintenance. Unfortunately this won't help for yesterday's mishap, but maybe it can help you and others here prevent future problems. Let me know if want me to go over your Apex setup to help set up some additional failsafes.
  6. Based on other threads, apparently my purple coralline algae is in demand, so perhaps your prize should be some algae scrapings. 🤣 And of course I have detailed floor plans. I even have 3D renderings of the room. Doesn’t everyone??? 🧐
  7. That’s exactly the reason. My tank sits in front of a 4 foot long divider wall that’s at a 45 degree angle to the room. The left side is easily accessible, but the right side is pretty cramped to reach behind. I leave my Flipper scraper “parked” on the left side rear wall and use it to scape that section plus the sides and front, but never the right rear.
  8. Another good photo bomb:
  9. Yes, your monti and goniopora are both doing great! Each has more than doubled in size, and nice coloration.
  10. One year ago today I joined PNWMAS. Since that time I have gained a lot of reefing knowledge thanks to many people here, and confidence that I’m doing the right things with my tank based on these obvious results: July 2018: July 2019: At 1544 posts, I’m only 9 years away from catching up to @Emerald525’s post count…provided I can block her from posting anything new! (now that I have Moderator rights, watch your back Kim!!!) I have also met a lot of great people here, and I’m really looking forward to the next year!
  11. I'm in the same boat. My 2-part dosing has increased substantially over the past few months (now 175 ml per day) so I've started researching calcium reactors. I don't have any room left inside my cabinet, so I'd probably put the reactor gear inside a small side cabinet. Following along...
  12. Welcome! I know there are several members in the Vancouver area, so not too far. You'll find a lot of useful information in these forums if you browse around. We also hold monthly meetings in various locations, with the next meeting at All Things Aquarium in Wilsonville, OR on July 21st. It's a good way to meet fellow reefers and put faces to the names here on the forums. Post some photos of your tank if you have a chance. We love photos here!
  13. Did you feed it a dead fish, or did it catch a live one?
  14. 1. Flooding 2. Tornado 3. Snakes or locusts? (not sure what's next in the sequence)
  15. NWS just posted this map of the tornado path. @albertareef - close call?
  16. Yesterday’s sudden thunderstorm and the EF-0 tornado that tracked through NE Portland left a lot of people without power. I hope none of you suffered any damage, and hope your tanks are OK. This is probably a good reminder to be prepared for power outages. If you don’t have a portable generator, you might want to consider picking one up. At a minimum, you should have a plan on how you’ll keep water moving and oxygenated in your tank. Perhaps a battery powered pump and airstone will get you by. Be prepared.
  17. I only placed them in the display tank.
  18. I don’t have experience with the Ecotech pumps, but one advantage with the COR 15 and COR20 is the integration with Apex. If the COR has any problem (running dry, snail or other obstruction, or power) the Apex can send you an alert or even take programmed actions like turning on or off other connected devices. Also, disassembly for cleaning is super easy.
  19. When I first set up my tank, I played around with the Radion lightning feature. But my wife made me promise I wouldn't use it once we got fish in the tank! ⛈️🤣
  20. @householdofpayne Check your PM's if you'd like to pick up a turbo today.
  21. Your sump is nearly the volume of my display tank. 😞 Looking forward to seeing your build come together!
  22. Wow, that's pretty sweet. What are the overall dimensions of the sump, and how many gallons?
  23. This was prompted by my conversations with two fellow reefers within the past week who experienced Apex issues. I won’t name names. 🤣
