  1. I am a HUGE fan of maxpect gyres.  And for the mega tip of the day, lightly coat ALL your plugs with silicone grease.   Not gobs of it, but just a light coating will prevent corrosion.

  2. Bummer, i wouldn't be dosing anything at this point.  Just chill on the AB for now. Now that you have a tester you can knock it down with LC.

I have LC on a dosing pump righy now and check phos daily.  I am in a weird situation though, i need to exhaust all the phos from my rock. It was a complete yoyo until i hooked up the doser.

  3. my guess is that you have crashed your phosphates. In fact, I am willing to bet on it.  Fading colors is typically low nutrients, too much light, or both.

I live outside of vancvouer and have a milwaukie low range photometer if you want me to test your phos.   Reef roids will raise your phos pretty quickly FWI.

  4. Yo trevor, you probably already know this, but a TON of lubrication also helps with continual duty P pumps. I put a metric ton of silicone lube on my tube when I installed it and every know and then "smoosh" it around so it stays on the tube.  I can't see how pushing vs pulling would matter on the pump, at first I thought that the negative pressure of pulling would last a little longer than the positive pressure of pushing... but when you are pushing on one side/ you are pulling on the other side of the pump so....

But I have read elsewhere that you do want to push into the reactor.. less likely for the reactor to run dry.
