  1. You can do it the way you have it both you need seals on both sides of the bulkhead.  But I would not pass up the chance to have Jorge squirt for me. ..

FFR.. I was talking with one of the chemists in the office today and he said flex seal has some NASTY chemicals in it.  Like, you can dispose of it at any waste connections facility (our client).  yikes.

  2. might help if you installed it properly as well.  LOL.

Did it come with two sets of seals?  that is so dumb, you need ONE washer between the overflow and tank.  both ends of the bulkhead "leak" along the threads but there is nowhere for the water to go as the space between the overflow and tank is sealed.  Don't know if I explained that well enough, but that is how it works.

You sure it is leaking from the box itself? the seams look pretty good to me.

  3. First step.. shame the person that did the work.

Next step, remove, set at an angle and squeeze weldon 16 at the top of the seam and let it run down.  You want about a 30 degree angle for optimum flow.  WO 16 is essentially liquid acrylic.  Or if you want to drive up to hockinson, Rick jones and I are building a sump on saturday and we can hook you up.  Should be dry enough by the evening to re-install

  4. I don't know about you guys but having @EMeyer around is absolutely awesome!!   John, I know you started running ozone.. when did you add the ozone system?  Curious as I am running one as well.  My bacteria population is not very diverse but it is balanced at this time.

  5.  From what I have read from the modt respected reefers is that rapidly changing parameters can weaken coral and allow bad bacteria to start to take hold (like vibrio). If ICP tests don't show pollutants i would think bacteria.

Brad lost thousands and THOUSANDS of dollars of sps. Never did figure out why.

One thing I do is if something is starting to stn i get it the hell out of my tank!!  I pull it out, frag off the healthy and put it in a qt.

Sorry man.  It sucks for sure. If it is any consulation my tank is currently fallow... super fun looking at an empty 600 gallon tank :)

  6. Yeah i am not a wet look guy either.  I had to topcoat this as juniper is really really soft.  I just finish sanded it and buffed it.  It is just above satin at this point.

  7. And don't feel shy about asking questions.

Monkeys may steal your lunch or scractch your face but deep down, they are trustworthy animals.

Michael Jackson had lots of monkeys as pets so you know that, well, MJ was pretty weird so yeah, if you have questions just ask.

    * tank size- start as large as you can afford. You'll want a bigger tank later

    * budget considerations - double your budget

    * what to expect starting out - it can be frustrating at times. Be patient and go slow.

     * livestock - look for inexpensive fish a that can stay in your tank and will get along with future tank mates.

    * Coral - go slow and don't buy any expensive coral in the beginning because they will likely die. Be careful to avoid corals that will be problematic later (ie. Invasive or sting others)

That is great advice.  Once you get the hang of things you can start to do what the experienced folks do..

    * buy an expensive coral online and then be disappointed when it shows up.

    * chime in with advice, not really knowing what is wrong, and then just suggesting a water change.

    * have a healthy tank and then not QT a fish and have velvet beak out.

    * buy storage bins to store old aquarium stuff you don't use anymore (never sell anything)

    * put frags of corals everyone already has and price them like you work at WWC.

    * Bump those sale posts ^

    * convince yourself you didn't like the wall behind your aquarium or the floor underneath it so you don't care that they are now ruined.

    * Be super proud and excited about a colony and then just have it die one day.

    Am I missing anything?

If he likes it even more.... I'm scared of the next one he creates. It's going to be a pornhub link next time.

Let's not forget that in this particular Rorschach ink blot test... you saw a naked old man.    Bro...

  10. Its 24 x 58 or so.  It is not THAT hard to do but like most things the videos make it look easier than it actually is.  Getting the slabs flat and accounting for warpage due to different moisture levels when you pour the epoxy is not fun.

This was a test project before doing a walnut dinner table.
