That reminds me of the time i took jeffs plastic floating lionfish and put it in my 300 to combat achilies agression.
It caused like 1 second of confusion, then my achilies was all "get that plastic piece of shiet put of here!"

Just looking at your photos i would say that the main issue is nutrient export. While a fuge can be a great nutrient export mechanism on a tank that size, regular 10 gallon water changes and a robust cleaning crew would solve all your issues.
I would NOT advise removing the sand bed. There is a tremendous amount of bacteria down there. I would bet good money that if you removed it you are going to have cyano and dino problems.

Yeah what he said.
I would have slept through the whole thing but the bedroom aquarium loosing its siphon and then the generator kicking on sent the dog into a barking and checking the house whirlwind.

Buy some plumbers putty. Form into a snake and press around where you are going to drill. Fill with water.
Drill.
Its stupid easy.

85,000 watt stand by generator $1,900.
Elecrical panel, wire, propane tanks $1,200.

If you are sure its chlorine than a simple carbon prefilter will suit your needs. Chloramines are more difficult to get rid of, you need a carbon block filter.

Which municipality?

Well, i can say that most rodi units are the same. It is really the RO membrane that is doing all the work.
Honestly, to give you the best advice we need to know what your water pressure is like and who is your water supplier.
Some municpal water has chlorine, some use chloramines. The higher the water pressure the better it will work, less waste water generated.
But... if you dont want to bother with all that, the BRS units are good.

HA! you bought it. Nice piece, good to see it went to someone local.

I will attest that the big fish will suck the air out of a tank pretty quickly.

I do basically the same approach but with a biofilter. I will say that biofilter or not the water in a medicated QT gets nasty.
I also reduce the time that the lights are on to 7 hours a day. Just trying to keep them relaxed.
Lots of hiding places are key of you have several fish in there.
