  1. The two Ranco controllers I have do not reset with power off. I just plugged my larval tank back in and the set point was still the same. Remember, you can get an APEX for about $400 that will handle all of that, so be careful you don't end up spending a $150 for just temp control.
  2. Has it always been bare bottom? I saw it several years ago at a meeting and I was really impressed, but I thought it had sand.
  3. I saw a tank in Louisville KY more than 10 years ago that had an auto cleaning system. The tank was cylindrical and about 2' in diameter. There was a central PVC tube that acted as an overflow and return. All of the rock and coral was stacked in the middle and the whole tank rotated slowly. On the outside of the tank was a screw drive that raised a mag cleaner up and down to the limits of the tank. The owner than put the inside piece of the mag cleaner over the outside piece and the complete tank was cleaned. I always thought that you could put up a rack on the outside that had two dimensional movement and automate your mag cleaner on a rectangular face.
  4. Very nice looking stock. What parameters do you need to keep them healthy?
  5. I posted the fish pairs I have. I am not looking for specific advice but would like to know others that have experience.
  6. Fish breeding is a sometimes boring hobby. It can take years to get a breeding pair. I am not into designer fish so my breeders are all natural species. I have a pair of ocellaris, yellow striped maroons, black saddlebacks, skunks, clarkies, and a pair of black ocellaris. I also have a pair of blue striped neon gobies and a pair of yellow striped gobies. Right now the blue gobies and the ocellaris are laying eggs. I am not very experienced and have only raise one hatch so far. I like DYI and I built my larval system based on commercial marine systems. I purchased access to a marine research study on best methods that I am trying to emulate. The larval system is a BRT (Black round tub) connected to a 55 gal. sump with skimmer. The outside of the tub is wrapped in two heating pads and insulation to give precise and constant temperature. It has a center riser and also a bubble ring around the riser. This causes the BRT to act like a Kreisal tank and keeps the larva off of the sides or bottom. It looks a lot like a Mercury capsule prior to launch.
  7. I am breeding marine fish and wondered who else in the area was doing the same. I can always use help and advice.
  8. I used to teach IT and we had a computer recycle program. The cables are from that program. The box I bought on Ebay for about $2.00. You can get a MD8 Mini cable on Ebay as well for $5.00
  9. This breakout box cost $2.00.
  10. Use a HVAC drain pan and plumb it outside. You can glue trim to the outside to hide it.
  11. Can an illegal aliens buy guns legally in Oregon?
  12. The constitution says I can have a gun. Why not change the constitution instead of bypassing it. That is what is wrong with the liberal position. They don't care if it is lawful, but do as they "feel" they should. We have a president who doesn't follow the law, we have sanctuary cities, pot sales, and all sorts of examples where people no longer follow the law as our leaders show it's not necessary. If you have political pull you can do just about anything and get away with it. Look at black lives matter, or Hillary. I can accept change, so change the constitution, not cheat the system.
  13. Why do you believe Harvard is reputable?
  14. How many of these homicides are classified by race?
  15. I am not sure what is the correct solution if there is one, but if regulation is the answer, we need to find somebody to enforce the regulations. As it is now in this country, if you disagree with a law or regulation just ignore it. Our governments have gotten so bloated and incompetent, that they don't do much in the way of enforcement. Look at our tax laws, or our immigration laws. Some of these ideas are pretty good until you realize that a government agency will be in charge. "Car crashes killed 33,561 people in 2012, the most recent year for which data is available, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Firearms killed 32,251 people in the United States in 2011, the most recent year for which the Centers for Disease Control has data." There are a lot more guns than cars, so cars are the most dangerous of the two. How is that regulation working?????
  16. What else are you raising?
  17. If you have a leak how will the rubber protect your dining room ceiling? I may be sloppy, but I have had countless small spills and several large ones that a mat won't control.
  18. Everything I do is DIY.
  19. If your builder used and built to code, your second floor has the same 40 lbs/sq. ft. designed load as the main floor. The other issue is water damage, but you could control that like they do with second story or attic HVAC installations, use a drain pan. You can make it slightly larger than the stand and paint it black. You can glue trim over it as well. It has a drain you will have to put through the wall, or run to a drain. I have seen one person using a condensate pump to get any water outside.
  20. Boought 2 40 gal breeders and a 20 gal high for $100.00
