  1. Hey Vanz, Puratek has some of these features, the GFCI is unique I believe to all of them. One other thing I would like to see, ALLOT of inputs. They are cheap, a 10 dollar arduino board has 16 inputs for example. I like allot of leak sensors, dual and triple float switches, float switches in the overflow (detect clogged overflows), etc. By having so few on APEX it is limiting and I have to spend allot more than 10 bucks to get more inputs. Flow sensor would be nice (return pump says it is on, but flow is 0, sensor or return pump is bad go investigate). More and more controllers are showing up with some form of par meters, that is a huge plus even if not 100% practical. There are a ton of musts, like PWM output to control LEDs and powerheads, basic timer functionality, moon phase tracking, temperature table tracking. Man the list goes on and on. =============================================================== Here are some more niche case ones, that are still interesting if only to me. Integration with home automation outlets like Z-wave etc. These outlets are already controllable and have been on the market for years. Third party integration. If I have an network enabled power strip, it would be awesome to be able to integrate with it. Wireless power strip integration. 10 dollars for three outlets of control. I use one on the frag tank to control the powerheads with a FOB. Allot of these features are heavy overlap with home automation. Reef controllers and home automation do overlap quite a bit. The IOT initiatives will some day be able to do what reef controllers do and vice versa. Playing into an IOT framework is also appealing. Something like Contiki or Spark, etc... Well I said it was niche right? Hope that helps keep the conversation going. Cannot wait to hear your opinion when you get one of these.
  2. Good to know if one goes out, glad you got it fixed.
  3. Cool! You are in the beta? Beyond what the apex does already Power draw sensing for each outlet Ability to program against the power draw (if temp < 78 and heater amps == 0 do something) GFCI on each outlet (one trip does not take entire system down) Ability to be notified if GFCI trips Flow sensor I dunno, those might be a good start to spark conversation
  4. Nice! already eating, what a score. Love the blastos too..
  5. Shirt is soaked, its a good evening!

  6. Puratek has an amazing controller with allot of features I wish were on the apex. Simple things like flow detectors, stray voltage detectors, current measured per outlet etc. This is a good video review: http://www.reef2reef.com/blog/video-review-the-insight-247-controller-by-puratek-part-1-2/ I am deeply vested in the APEX and truly love it, but competition is a good thing. These guys are bringing it right along with Digital Aquatics Archon...
  7. That would actually be really helpful. I was planning on coordinating one meet/drop with people to avoid multiple 2 hour round trips. Its a good thought.

Man, I wish my tank was further along. I'd be bidding like a madman

  9. Fragging hawwwwt stuff for the upcoming auction

  10. I have some decent stuff that will be getting fragged up asap so healing can begin. Excited to do something good for one of our own. This group has always been so good to help out others, it is exciting to participate in an effort like this.
  11. You are a pioneer! This looks like a huge upgrade for RK users. I think it is great! Did the programming change at all compared to earlier versions?
  12. Salinity is another big one. I guess some of the serious balling users will actually use their dosing pumps to remove tank water daily along with the parts dosed. Then the ATO supplies freshwater back. Interesting stuff! Residue Remaining from Recipe #1 when using Recipe #1, Part 3A After one year of adding 8 ppm of calcium and the accompanying 0.4 meq/L (1.1 dKH) of alkalinity per day (41 mL of both parts per day or 4 gallons of both parts per year in a 50-gallon aquarium, including the effect of the magnesium part #3A, 2440 mL/year), the following residue (Table 2) would remain after calcification and adjustment for salinity (there is roughly a 32% rise in salinity over a year using this addition rate without water changes).
  13. Nice looking prop/frag tank, score! If you are like me it will get filled with stuff you are not sure what to do with as the display gets full
  14. Thanks everyone for the responses, I value and appreciate local information. Many of you who I know and have seen your successful tanks. I am still on the fence but have new information, better than just a google search to work off of.
  15. Thanks for the warning Steve! There are plenty of legit online sellers as you mentioned, this definitely is not one of them!
  16. That makes allot of sense Steve. I knew a guy who lived in town that had an amazing tank and only manually dosed. Gotta admit though getting a doser means one less thing to worry about on a day to day basis. There are articles out there that say iodine does nothing for a reef, I strongly disagree! Glad to see you are adding it. Salifert makes a great test kit to make sure it is not overdone.
  17. Good stuff thanks for sharing!
  18. If my office was not on the second floor... What a dream tank...

Good ones, I need some Pearlberry.

That is for sure true, but I was hoping to see some of those jaw dropping shots from your tank. Perfect opportunity, share just a couple with us!
  21. Love the ZoNano, I see you tracked one down, cool!
  22. Share your utter chaos growing secrets Kim You had some amazing collections and seemed to produce allot of frags. I am always interested in the tips and tricks that helped. I know it is tough to narrow it down sometimes though...
