  1. App II CITES are corals that allow in the trade, however USFWS has their opinion on certain animals not accepting for the commercial trade or captive holding in the USA.One example is Asian Arowana that has been widely farmed, each with a microchip for tracking, is still not allowed to be imported and held captive for any purpose.Rhizo spp is another one that has not been accepted by USFWS for the reason lack of information on distribution and number of population in the collecting area.Unfortunately some of these animals have been imported by irresponsible businesses with falsifying import documents and import declarations, we just want to be aware about this situation and not support such commercial trade.About 15 years ago there was a case here in the Portland Metro area where USFWS came to an individual's house and confiscated 5 gold asian arowana and that individual was indicted and convicted. It is unfortunate that in this highly regulated coral trade some sellers purposely mislead buyers when dealing with illegal animals.
  2. Not only illegal to import it is also illegal to own because it is under appedix I CITES unless it has been declasified for commercial trade
  3. COLD SPELLS DEAL - 20% OFF Sitewide Minimum order before discount 250.00 https://shop.goldenbasketreef.com/ #goldenbasket #goldenbasketreef Local Pick Up & Shipping can be arranged
  4. You can set up Catalytic Carbon and DI filtration for your need save gas money for sure to buy livestock 😉
  5. Most likely the consumption of those 3 parameters are still not significant and when you do water change most replenishment is from the new water. I will not worry so much about calcium and magnesium levels because it will not affect the health of coral, the calcium will precipitate if too much. Alk on the hand is very significant to the health of coral, so need to keep this at a steady level. If you dose 20ml to keep your alk level then you need to dose the 2nd part the same amount. This is because you want to have ionic balance in the system. Dosing one and not the other can cause ionic imbalance and will make the system more problematic in the future. When consumption increases everything will balance out. Right now probably even 20ml daily for part 1 is too much if you don't have much coral in the tank. I would determine the exact dose for part 1 then dose part 2 the same amount.
  6. This is another option to buy chewable interceptor from Canada that many reefers use it https://www.canadapetcare.com/interceptor-for-dogs/heartwormers-treatment-54.aspx
  7. Gorilla crab is very easy to spot, shine the light to show glowing blue eyes then stab it with metal skewer. The whole body of the crab is hairy.
  8. I have both seasoned live rock and dry rock med to xxl pieces
  9. Merry Christmas!!! Nice, Santa watching over the Octopus.
  10. All major brands of reef epoxy putty is manufactured by Aquamend with the addition of color pigment, then rebranded. A lot of cheaper industrial epoxy putty may have ingredient that is not friendly for aquarium life.
  11. A lot of people using insta-set without problem. Not all epoxy putty have the same ingredient, some has metal in it. Also some for aquarium has color added and this tend to make the epoxy set quicker compare to the natural epoxy. I have use this brand for many years without problem, AquaMend Epoxy Putty Stick. This is the base for all aquarium epoxy in the market.
  12. Epoxy will also need superglue for both at the plug end and the frag end. The advantage you can can cut and attached frag without has to level the bottom of frag and skinny branch frag will attach easily using epoxy & superglue. Also for encrusting and sps it has a base to start growing faster. Epoxy and gel glue combo also work good for in water attaching frag to rockwork. For using glue only thick gel type cyanoacrylate glue is the best. I usually just use water to make the glue set quicker. I put a dab of gel glue on the plug and a dab on the base of the frag dip in water, pull out then wait 20 second then attach. To avoid bubble I always dip the plug in ro / tank water before fragging for 1 minute, dry the top then apply gel glue and attach the frag.
  13. My gratitude to clients, friends, and family to all that you do to make us who we are. Let's continue to support each other in 2023. Have a blessed Holidays!!!
  14. It is a yearly event for Seattle and trying to do the same with Portland show. We hope for a good attendance so we can do yearly for Portland show.
  15. Tyree CFM Pro Tour will have a show in Portland, Sunday - May 21 2023. Many quality out of state vendors will be coming and it will a treat for us all to have coral selections at one place. http://www.coralfarmersmarket.com/cfmprotour_portland_2023.htm?fbclid=IwAR1FUkvM56HW9Yxm2rhN5anZQR9UfG2ktxHxZax1gfsOqLOcbsTl8CwTwc8
  16. Have you experiencing fluctuation in your water parameter? How often do you test the water? Acropora doesn't like alk swing more 0.5 dKH for example, the effect usually will show a week after the fact. Also sometimes RO water is the problem that being overlooked, replacing filter regularly is a must to keep optimal RO water for acropora keeping.
  17. What is your tank parameters? Alk, Cal, Mag, NO3, PO4, and Potassium?
  18. It is a Ricordea yuma, very nice looking It will loose the green coloration as it grows I have one that fully open about 5" diameter
  19. Cut the top portion of monti / anacropora then discard the base, put the top section in a new base. I bet it will cut down 95% of time hunting for the nudi
  20. Monti eating nudi is the most difficult pest to eradicate because it will require super high strength of dip medication that will kill coral Egg and/or adult comes with mariculture montipora or monti from infected system I have tried full strength of bayer without dilution and this pest still alive, high dose of KCL will only temporary shock it but not kill it The best way is to QT new monti or manually hunt adult and eggs daily till all gone in the infected system IME another option is to use camel shrimp, this shrimp will hunt for egg and adult monti eating nudi not sure if peppermint shrimp will do the same since I have never tried it
  21. For ULNS (ultra low nutrient system) to keep sps you can follow zeofit system
  22. Iodine level can also be elevated too high if keeps adding without testing, this situation is silent sps killer
  23. Jake and I have been friends for years, it is shocking to hear this sad news about him passing away. I spoke with him last week about getting him some sps and talked about his diving trip to Bali after many years pause. He was very happy and looking forward to the trip. I surely will miss him.
