  1. It looks like a few people actually missed the 5pm deadline and I just want paying close enough attention. I'm giving everyone a pass for the week and letting bubbles get a picture posted tonight and move forward. Please get updates posted by 5pm for the next one. I'll only be lenient this once.
  2. I feed with tongs anyway. It helps keep the little tank clean. It was too cute to not bring home.
  3. That looks so clean! Too bad I snagged the little coral croucher that came in yesterday. Well, too bad for you, he would have been perfect for that tank.
  4. That's interesting. I wonder where the excess nutrients are coming from. Where did the rock come from? Maybe its leaching phosphates?
  5. Have you been feeding them at all? There are nerite snails that you can get that live in brackish water to feel way algae. Look up pipipi snails. I'll take the shrimp from you if you're going to junk it though.
  6. Now that the contest pico is off the desk, I have room to start getting this new project going. It's going to be two 6 gallon tanks plumbed into the same sump. The tank on top is a 10" cube, and will house a pistol shrimp/goby pair. The bottom tank is 24"long x 9" high x 6.5" deep. I'll keep a frog fish in that one. The sump will be the standard 10g tank that was my first set up 6 years ago. I'm going to keep the corals pretty simple. It'll be mainly softies and some macros. That's all I have for right now. I haven't figured out what I want to do for lighting yet. I can't decide on two separate smaller lights, or one big one hung above the whole setup.
  7. There's not a whole lot to update on this. There's some adorable little shrimp, they swim around and eat algae... I did pull apart a few of the moss balls and glued the pieces to the rock. We'll see how that works out.
  8. I gave up on this little guy after a couple of equipment failures. Does anybody want it before I throw it away? I put two bulkheads in the bottom so I could run a sump with it. It would take a little tinkering to run it without the sump, but you can take the whole setup if you want it.
  9. I'm not sure I've ever posted a full tank shot of my tank. It's a mr aqua 12g long that I've had running for almost 5 years now. The tank is rimless and 36"x8"x8". I love the footprint on these tanks. Although it makes it harder to get a decent fts.
  10. The light and heater I was using both stopped working on the same night. It was easier to just shut it down and focus on a new setup I'm planning.
  11. Looks like everybody checked in on time. I'm the only quitter so far. They all look great so far.
  12. The downside of having a bunch of old equipment around is that you never know how reliable it still is. I woke up yesterday to find both my heater, and light had stopped working. I know this is lame since this whole thing was my idea, but I'm just going to call this a 7$ loss and throw in the towel. I'll still be keeping track of the backend stuff for the contest. Good luck everybody! The tanks are already looking awesome!
  13. That looks great Holly! Did you get the little black one from Jeff?
  14. I got rid of my sand bed and hooked up a UV sterilizer at about the same time. I'm not sure if it was one, or both things that got rid of them. They disappeared though.
  15. Thanks! I'm really happy with it. I used a combo of superglue and jb waterweld.
  16. I'm tempted. Unfortunately there's a silly contest pico tank in its place.
