  1. Brad is good enough, smart enough, and gosh darn-it... people like him.
  2. All are welcome! No conflict of interest this time. Oh, and if anybody wants the link. It's in my signature.
  3. That's a pretty cool idea Gaidin. I wonder if they make them in different delay amounts?
  4. Lol @ bears. So doing that next year.
  5. Hmm.. Maybe I am thinking of somebody else.... I could have sworn it was you! Oh well. Jeremy for admin! hehe
  6. Just thought we needed another post with "black friday" in the title. In this thread, we will communicate ONLY in black friday related memes. I'll start:
  7. Go here: http://www.pnwmas.org/settings/account Click "Edit Post Signature" Enjoy.
  8. I completely agree - I already approached him actually as I needed a fellow admin. He respectfully declined. Perhaps he'd like to be head-honcho?
  9. Aww, shucks man. Thanks. I support the plan to have IP.Board do the migration. I would have had them do this to some extent. It's actually easier for IPB to support their SLA's if they have a known good import that THEY performed and it's easier for Pnwmas to hold them accountable. I have no problem helping with this process either. Once the site is up on the new format/hosting, there will be little need for an admin to the extent that I was.
  10. Thanks man, I needed a laugh. I nominate Pontus for president.
  11. Yes, but those are pretty vague terms... and they apply to pretty much anything in computing. I could make vBulletin 5 scream on the right server, but that would cost money and this forum would still be lacking features we need. Yes. IP.Board offers their own hosted solution. You don't even buy a license for the software. You simply pay a monthly cost to host the forum, upload the data, import it/convert it, upload your theme (that you would have created in advance) and you're good to go. Tuning the existing server is problematic. The existing server is a VPS - so memory and CPU aren't really guaranteed. The current server has 2GB of memory. 1GB of that is guaranteed. At rest, the server uses 1GB of memory. It peaks past 1GB often... almost constantly. If other servers on the same host are also doing this, the host server becomes overcommitted and hard memory locks occur - which is what is happening when you see a "500 internal server error". The current host DOES allow upgrading the VPS but it's about 20/mo more than we're currently paying and it would not resolve the missing/broken features problem. Moving to IP.Board solves all problems. It's possible it introduces some others, but all of those problems are usability issues that configuration changes or theming/plugins can resolve. If the server is slow, submit a ticket. They are on the hook to make it usable. Pretty sure they have an SLA. Our forum is dinky compared to some large forums in use on their hosts, so performance shouldn't be an issue. If our site crashes (highly unlikely in a largely virtualized world - where they manage HA/FT), they are managing backups and restores and are on the hook to do that as well. The hosted solution also gives the forum to function without a sysadmin, but instead just a forum admin.
  12. That is one option. But it's a costly one. they're currently paying peanuts for our server. That is incorrect actually. New software under my original plan involved a hosted solution... server capabilities don't matter.. Only the SLA. This is true, but server performance is only a drop in the bucket of improvements that have to happen. Push notifications on tapatalk, for instance, will still not work.
  13. Really bro? I'm not sure it required the 72font.
  14. I'm excited to see what Kevin is working on. That said, archiving old data is always supported... backing up those archives is a responsibility of the host or the administrators of the server. Right now, the server is being automatically backed up to a dropbox account owned by PNWMAS. So, there is plenty of fault tolerance built into the current site. The current site sucks so much because vBulletin sold me a ferrari, but delivered a unimog with a half-blown engine and 6 flat tires and unfortunately, the server PNWMAS is paying for is a single car garage. I put a new paint job on the crippled unimog, but it doesn't make it any faster. When you add it all up, a hosted invision power migration is a clear choice. For the record, during my resignation process, I offered to stay around in an unofficial admin status. I have received no such interest. I have no problem with this.
  15. Yeah, brad's a giant knob. Everybody knows that. Well, spilled milk right? I think my vision of a "fix" for the site is different than most. I really don't think most would appreciate my solution. Good to know everybody doesn't hate me I suppose. Thanks for that!
  16. *Ignoring Pontus entirely* Blackice, didn't we change it after the crash so that people could post in the classifieds regardless? Because post counts were basically reset? It's hard to tell who's been around for a long time or not anymore, so these seniority arguments need to probably stop... it's just petty anyways.
  17. You seem to love putting words in other peoples mouths. Feel free to take your foot out of yours. I think people need to just stop posting negativity. MrBret/GoldenBasket - Killer frags! If you guys didn't hate me, I'd be tempted to snag some of those! You know, if they weren't all juiced up in the pics. *poke* (completely joking). Good luck with the sale.
  18. +1. Check valves and holes in the return above the water line to break siphon. I only get a gallon or so more than the contents of the plumbing coming back down when the return shuts off. Past that, my controlled handles the rest. I have a high, normal and low float switch in my sump all tied into my apex as well as some logic (defer 020:00 then ON) to tell the skimmer to always wait 20minutes before turning on. This allows my sump to return to a normal level before coming on. It's actually slightly more complicated than that, but happy to share when you get an apex.
  19. Oh man.. this is getting good.
  20. When do I see the PNWMAS program "Tanks for Alcoholics"?
  21. Fill it with beer, drink with straw - quickly, repeat.
  22. Dangit! I got rid of my big wad of chaeto..... I still have some stragglers coming back... I'd love some dragons breath though. Save me some and I'll pick it up when I configure your apex.
  23. Nooooo!!! sorry to see you go Doug! I'm sure you'll be back though... This hobby sends people off, but brings them back later all the time.
