  1. Mine host my wellsos, toadstool, and elegance coral pretty much on and off randomly. I'd say you could probably get them to stop by putting it up on a frag rack and making the rbta more accessable for them. Once they get into hosting the rbta, take the wellso down from the frag rack.

same works if it's apstasia like noob posted, there is also apstaisa X that works the same way (spay in mouth)

Are you sure it's not the ric doing the stinging? I suppose if it is the brown polyps (i'm assuming palys or zoas of some kinda, which is odd for warfare), you can mix up some concentrated kalkwaser solution and spray it in their mouths. They will die off in a few days from this. You could also just pull the rock out and scrape the polyps off with a razor blade or knife. Eventually you should probably isolate the ric or it will sting the xenia if it gets close enough.
  4. Watch your skimmer, whenever I use prime mine goes ape for a while and overflows the collection cup. Definitely don't use tap water if at all possible. Usually has high phosphates which will start random algae cycles and such you don't want. I'd suggest a bio pellet reactor to get rid of your phosphates. I'm just using a modified two little fishies one and its working great!
  5. Take over is not the term i'd use. They do split and survive only being a single leg and such, but I've always had them and I wouldn't say that they have ever reached "excessive amounts." Realistically, I see maybe 3-5 on my glass on my 90 gallon and rarely see them on rocks/corals.
  6. Oh and thats a way better choice on the sand. I have finer sand in my 30 gallon and its always blowing all over the place. Heavier stuff is nice to keep the flow rates up.
  7. Oh snap...I thought you were still posting in here because things were getting better! CRAP DUDE! If you need any cycled seeder rock or water, let me know and i'll get ya some from my tank. I still say exotic all zoa tank! there are some epic ones out there and i'm sure they would look uber nice under the LEDs!
  8. I'll take them off your hands. If you want to come by ill give you some corals if you like (and the $1 lol) PM me.
  9. Update update update! You've been buying too many corals to not show pics!!! (naner)
  10. Just got back from the Orchards one....gross lol! Algae and cyano fiesta up in there. I always feel bad for the random corals that get thrown in there too with their "great lights" I saw the filtration, looked like a wet dry with no skimmer on that one. Really grungy looking. I would never buy livestock there unless it was like 1/4 the price of any nice LFS and that would likely be out of pity for the fish :(
  11. No it was 1200 a few inches below the water (like 3"). Around 300 on the sand bed. If it was 1200 on the sandbed i'm pretty sure I would have melted all my corals by now lol!
  12. Angels seem to like certain lps for sure. Mine use to go after my trumpets and pick here and there at random other things. Also had a copperband that started doing some picking. Hard to say, but I try to avoid fish that are "reef safe with caution" so I don't wind up in that boat. Biggest pain is getting a single fish out of pretty much any tank over about 20 gallons lol! Acans are hard to say also. I've got them all over the place (high and low light/flow) in both tanks and they seem to be just fine (scratch)
  13. This is the only controllable one I see (the 104w, listed on ebay as 120w): http://reefbreeders.com/controllable_led_fixtures.html As far as coverage, depends on how high you are able to mount it (most all LED fixtures claim 24x24 coverage). The edges on a 40b won't probably be lit quite as well as the center, but it's easy to aquascape around that for proper growth and coral diversity.
  14. The one with the built in timer and it is linkable? That one was what I was wanting for my 90 also!
  15. It's been great. ONLY issue i've had is it not turning on if you have it turned waaaay down on a timer. This however really isn't an issue most people would run into. Overall i've been really happy with it and all my corals have been doing great. So far i've yet to see one with a color output I like more than this. The 90 degree optics on this one seem a bit focused, so 120 would be better for coverage, but they are nice for cubes and would work if you can mount them higher (I have limited hood space so it's basically on the water surface). Yeah that was way better than I thought it would do lol! I think it was around 1250 a few inches below the surface with the fixture a few inches up. Needless to say i'm satisfied with the output haha!
  16. That would be even better lol. I forgot to get the Mag test kit anyways, so i'll have to swing by one of these evenings. Any days work better than others for ya?
  17. Hey Jessie, could you order me one of each so I can calibrate my pH probe on the RKL? I'll get ya the $4 whenever you need it. Thanks! http://shop.mediabaskets.com/Milwaukee-701-Calibration-Solution-Single-Use-Packet-20ml-MI00972.htm http://shop.mediabaskets.com/Milwaukee-1001-Calibration-Solution-Single-Use-Packet-20ml-MI00973.htm Can't really think of anything else I need right at the moment.
  18. I was hoping we were going to be able to put them in a tank, but then Jessie didn't have SW mixed up only RO. Would be cool to get a par38 over a 10 gallon with some water mixed up for viewing. Still a good time though! I also think you should do some ebay style auctions on here...I got outbid on everything at the meeting (sad)
  19. Got it from Thomas, thanks again! We'll see how it does. I owe you frags if we ever cross paths!
  20. is your Tunze making enough bubbles? Kinda dumb question, but with my CPR bak pak everyone mods them by adding a wood airstone in the chamber. You get way better results after the mod as the MJ or Accela pump isn't the best for bubbles. Not sure if that applies here lol, but thats my tip. I just got an ATO from a member on here, lovin it, definately wish I did it sooner! You could always do a poor boys top off and just use an aqua lifter on a timer and hope for the best. I was running one at night for a half hour before my ATO unit, kept it close, but with more volume there is less chance for error.
  21. I finally was able to reply to this one lol, I almost deleted it on accident again on my iphone DOH!
  22. Sweet snag from GB, gotta love their corals and prices! You sure have that green acan pretty shaded...I have some on top and they are fine lol, you sure your not shading too much?
  23. When you told me this, i instantly thought of this:
