  1. Edit - Double post...LEDS rock! (rock2)
  2. I would do a mix of optics on some of the whites and blues but leave them off the rest. My fixture has 90 degree optics and it still seems pretty focused, but it depends on how high up you are able to mount it. The reds and greens would probably be best w/o optics so there is less spotlight/disco effect and better overall mixing. I really like having the red and greens in the mix, it really makes some of the colors pop even more! UV is also nice if you want a little extra purple in the mix. Overall the beauty of LED is being able to change out for new colors later to tune to your liking. My clam also seems to be loving them, so yours should too (rock2)
  3. Jessie, Put me down for coming (not sure what happened to the Evite...) and I'm pretty sure my fiance will come also. We'll bring chips. As far as frags for auction...I'll have at least 1 frag of LA Lakers Zoas and 1 Frag of TUBBS, Possibly one or two more of something else.
  4. Still have it! $50 OBO and taking trades! Will be at September meeting for delivery (dancing)
  5. Nice, that color mix is gonna be really nice! Did you do solder-less or regular?
  6. Yep, $50 for the whole CD size piece. PM me if you want it.
  7. Thanks, they are sweet looking colonies. Hard to say a price...maybe $50 obo?
  8. Yep, it has 2 14w t5 actinics. I didn't run them much so they have lots of life left in them
  9. I noticed it on the first acan in 24 hours, so it happened quick. I tried feeding the first day and I fed the red one last night. Red is still hanging on today.
  10. The nice thing also is the seller said I could get a replacement next time I'm in so I'm just seeing how things do.
  11. The red is still hanging in there currently, had about 30% die off. I've given it and iodine bath and moved it to my frag rack for higher flow. I did a melafix dip...which I'm regretting as my skimmer has been going ape now for 4 days and I can't leave it on without overflowing lol
  12. If you can get the par meter I'll swing by with my fixture for some readings
  13. This is why I said you should go see some peoples tanks using different kits. I wasn't sure I liked the look of NoobtoSalt's in pictures...but then I saw it in person and instantly knew I wanted a similar setup. All cameras tweak out bad when you take pictures of most bright lights, definately need to see in person to appreciate. Your more than welcome to come check my fixture out, i'm sure Jessie would show you his too, definately check em out before you buy.
  14. I've still got this one and I'm just in orchards area http://www.pnwmas.org/forums/showthread.php?30647-600-gph-HOB-overflow-box&highlight=
  15. One of these days I want to bring it over to your place and see if it dims on the RKL. I think it theoretically should since it's dimmable with the knobs but it would be nice to verify.
  16. It's the 96w one. All their fixtures are made up with similar mixes of colors so should be able to achieve good color mix. Since a biocube isn't as deep as mine you'd probably want the one with the 120 deg optics instead of the 90 like mine. They are even cheaper too, so thats nice lol!
  17. I was just reading around and the people with 29 gal biocubes were using two or the ones using a single always had to suppliment with stunners or something to get the spread. Personally, with the biocubes, I like them with the hood on, so I wouldn't want to have it with no hood and a pendant hanging way above it to get the spread. You really should look at noobtosalt (Jessie's) before buying, the rapidled kit is sweet. Or as you said in my thread, check out the reefbreeders units lol
  18. It's really not to bad to clean carbs out, just have to get them off the bike which is a bit tricky but not impossible. Sounds like the floats are sticky by that description. I haven't done it in a few years so i'll pass, but Pro Calibur could do it pretty reasonable usually.
  19. Also most users with biocubes are using 2...not just 1. I would much rather buy a Sol if i'm gonna spend anywhere into the $400+ range
  20. This is what I was reading on different colors and spectral distribution: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2012/3/aafeature I've read about pendants, the Orphek's seem to be the better choice but cost a lot more. I haven't found anything that says kessil has UV and infrared... Plus this article really turned me off from pendants: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2012/1/aafeature the par values are just not there
