  1. There is a nice cube at Garret's. I think it's a 100g
  2. If your calcium is rises that high in 24h then your making big adjustments. Like I said earlier you need to set your effluent rate at a broken steam and SLOWLY add co2. Start with a bubble every 3 sec, wait 24h then test YOUR alk not calcium and see where it's at. If your alk dropped then increase the bubble count a little higher maybe try a bubble every 1.5 sec. You will soon find a bubble count that maintains your ALK. Once your find that number set you ph controller and leave it alone.
  3. Not so much...the media will start to dissolve at a ph below 7.4. I used to run a ph inside my reactor around 7.0-6.8 and kept the effluent higher.
  4. Lol yeah they were still unpacking the rest while I was there so didn't get a chance to snap a pic.
  5. I was just at TPA and they have a massive shipment of some really beautiful clams at great prices. If your in the market for clams, seriously they have like over 50 different ones to choose from. Don't think I have ever seen that many in one place..lol
  6. You always adjust your calcium reactor based off you alk consumption never you calcium. You want to dial the reactor in so your alk is stable. Once your alk is sable then your calcium will follow. Do you have a ph controller? Your gonna want your effluent rate at a broken stream. Once you have your effluent rate set, then go ahead and slowly increase your co2 rate until your alk seems stable. Start with a slow bubble count and test every 24h. Make very small adjustments each time.
  7. Yeah the powermodule is so powerful I can literally melt Sps in the middle of my tank. The par and intensity this fixtures puts down is more them any metal halide fixture I have ever owned.
  8. This is funny to me. I had the same crab in my tank for 2 years. He made it through the transfer ad has been chomping on my Sps for years. I tried to many ways to catch him but was never successful. One morning I caught him off guard and nabbed him with some tweezers and killed him....happiest day of reefing so far.
  9. 2 teaspoons per gallon is the full strength. You adjust based on your bio load and all consumption. Best is used in a reactor or ato water.
  10. The point in trying to make is in order to have success with Sps, it's best to stick with proven lighting systems. With metal halides, you need a solid reflector with good proven bulbs like radiums. If buy cheap Bulbs and your Sps are brown then it wasn't the metal halides it was your bulbs/reflector combo. If you buy the cheap LEDs and your corals are lacking color then maybe it's not the LEDs but your fixture. If you buy a cheesy t5 fixture and the growth/color is not great. Maybe you should have gotten a proven t5 fixture. Pick one of the three and make sure it's proven.
  11. 500 is cheap for an ati fixture. The powermodule run almost double that price.
  12. The reflectors, ballast and active cooling fans separate ATI fixtures from all the others. They drive the bulbs in a completly different way then any other fixture.
  13. This highly depends on what fixture you have. T5 are not created equal. The t5 fixture I have in my tank is probably one of the most proven fixtures in the world for growing Sps.
  14. Nice man, I think I have seen this build on reef central. It good to post in the local forum as well.
  15. It goes up and down. About 300-400 a month the last couple months not counting the equipment.
  16. That frag is so brown it's like a rustic color/red. You could almost call it red. I'll try and post a better pic with less blue. Sorry for the late reply...it was nice to meet you also and your tank is rockin,
  17. The stakes just got higher.
  18. Yep, sometimes it takes them while to start stocking it.
  19. They don't sell it all the time. It comes in during the canning season because people use to preserve canned foods. That is what wedges is used for. Almost every lfs in Oregon should kalk.
  20. It all depends on the nem you have. Rose bubble tips don't have a very strong sting compared to some other species.
