  1. The power went out at my house for about 30 minutes. I have vortech battery backup and a ups for my return pump. My ups will last 2 hours with my return pump plugged in. If I plug in my 250w heater, it will only last 15 minutes. I am lucky, the other side of town where I live still does not have power since about 2pm yesterday.
  2. That sounds awesome! My wife would be really mad if I did something like that, so your not alone.
  3. Very cool!! Just recently had the chalice bug bite me pretty hard!
  4. My lights went out about an hour ago and just came in the room and turned on the room lights and saw my cleaner shrimp spawn. She started moving her tail at a rapid rate and literally threw thousands of what look like almost Copepods throughout my tank. They are alive and moving. Really really cool to witness!!
  5. Wow that is a tough day!!! Sorry. Hopefully your phone works out and you can find a replacement motherboard for cheap. My friend droped his phone in over 10 feet of water to the bottom of the river. Put it in rice for a week and it's good as new. Granted it was no super phone but it's worth a try.
  6. Welcome to PNWMAS!! I joined your forum in the rogue. Glad to see you on here as well.
  7. Well I used a plasma torch high end laser combo!!! My sump started melting so I had to stop. Thanks Garrett that was not very good advice(laugh). On a serious note I covered it with trash bag and duct tape and used a Rotozip. Couple flecks in the water I scooped out and all went smooth. I got it hanging now and will be testing for awhile before I let it go. Seems like a good product. I will hook the solenoid to my Apex to only allow it to run a short amount of time, this way no floods happen. Thanks everyone for the advice.
  8. I was just gonna free hand it since it's not in a stand it's in my fish room. Would not look perfect but good enough.
  9. So I bought a Level Loc ATO and it arrived today. My problem is my acrylic eurobracing is to wide for it to hang on so I need to cut it. Of course the sump is in use so I don't want to have acrylic flakes all throughout my system. I have a router and a bit but it is really messy. Is there any cleaner way to cut it or do I need to pull everything out and go cut it and bring it back? I have my fuge, skimmer and all my equpment in it so it is no small task. If that is the best way though that is what I will do.
  10. Got my group buy email!!!(rock2)(rock2)
  11. I'm anxiously awaiting the Email as well.
  12. How do you have it in your tank? High flow-low flow, Lighting?
  13. I just got the Starburst cap as well a couple days ago. No yellow polyps on it yet. How's about yours Miles?
  14. Everything really came together nice! Wood panels look great, and the magnet idea is awesome. Very clean setup makes me want to tighty things up a bit. I need to figure out how to hide all my cords.
  15. We're talkin Jody here!!!! You know the frags are gonna be amazing!!!(rock2)(rock2)
  16. There is a guy on reefcentral that has a big clown trigger in his reef and says it has never bothered a thing. I also think he is the one and only and has gotten extremely lucky. I totally understand you wanting one though, they are by far my favorite fish of all time. I would never take the chance in a reef though.
  17. Good call on adding in more of the rock. As others have already said that is going to be your main source of filtration so you really need it. Also you want to try and make as many areas for your fish to hide as possible. I know you are thinking that you want to see your fish and I understand that. Any new fish that you put in your tank is going to be stressed to some point, and having ample hiding places will help them calm down and give them a lot less chance of getting sick. I have 12 fish now and every single one of them hangs out in the front of my tank. All fish need a place to hide in case they get spooked. Just think about the ocean and all the rock that they have to hide in. We are all trying to make our glass boxes as close to the natural ocean that we can. Just keep your head up take all the advice you can and read as much about the hobby as you can.
  18. Sorry to hear about your snowflake!(sad) My parents had one when I was a kid. He was our favorite fish in our tank. So they have always been one of my favorite fish bringing back some great childhood memories.
  19. Any chance Matt Pedersen and everyone else could come to Roseburg for the meeting? Since the 27th is my 30th birthday and all!! (laugh)(nutty)
  20. They sell the LaMotte Alk test kit on BRS. I know you are heading up the group buy, so I know you are in. I am gonna join your group buy and I think gonna get the LaMotte and the Hanna and compare the two. I have Salifert right now and it always gives me the same readings. I thought they were a good test kit but Grassi has seemed to make me a bit skeptical now(scratch).
  21. I have two mp40 es' on my 120 4x2 and they are amazing. Customer service can't be beat and I don't have one dead spot in my entire tank. I agree that it is the best piece of equipment I have. Although my bubbleking 180 is a close rival. My vote is to buy 2 especially with a six foot tank. Should be able to get 2 used for a good price.
  22. I have an Apex and I like it, but it makes me feel computer illiterate! I can't seem to get it to work well with my iPhone.
