  1. The Nautilus' DT has been having problems with really low mag (around 500) so we checked the Kent Salt. The level we were getting at 1.026 was about 1100. We were trying to decided if it would worth it to do a huge water change or just keep adding mag supplements. He's running a calcium reactor so do we need to do something special as far as what mag we use (sulfide/chloride).
  2. I'd love to get that Superman from you, unless someone's traveling down I-5 I don't think it could happen.
  3. I blame you all if this doesn't work and fails catastrophically (laugh) (naner)
  4. Anyone..... Anyone..... Anyone.... Bueller...
  5. I had the idea to put the DT a bit farther back on the tank (around 13"), and put a hing on the front part to have better access to the middle tank. What do you think that would do?
  6. I guess I'm unsure of how I could do this since all the 2x4 are joined along the outside of the 4x4's. Can you draw a diagram?
  7. So you are saying that I should put extra support going from the middle shelf down, right? All the weight on the top shelf is going directly onto the 4x4's. Turns out plywood is only $5 more, so I'll go with that.
  8. Though I'd post picture of what I've accomplished so far. The dimensions are 60"l x 30"w x 42"h. This thing is big! At this point the joints are joined with only one screw each, but the middle shelf has 5/16" lag bolts. I'll have to dissemble it to get it into the house. Looks like it wont be going through the wall (sad). Next will be a couple of cross beams and the chip board for the shelves.
  9. I don't know if anyone else get updates from mrsaltwatertank.com but Mark Callahan gives great advice and he's got some informative/hilarious videos. I get his "Friday Morning Quick Tips" every week, and I always look forward to them.
  10. No one has anything? I've already lost a condy to a HOB filter, I'd hate to lose a RBTA as well. The RBTA at Lane Community College (where I work) split two days ago. They can't sell it but they can trade so I thought I'd buy them a clean up crew for their 240g; maybe $25 worth? Sound like a fair trade?
  11. Any ideas? I was thinking pantyhose at first but I'm not sure how effective it would be.
  12. I'm still dialing in my new skimmer so it's a little lighter than I want it to be.
  13. I'd call dibs but you live to far away.
  14. If you go to Newport and you find yourself in the swamplands area. Check out the alligators and the red-eared sliders; 2 of the turtles were mine.
  15. He just did a huge renovation on the shop a couple of months ago. He moved all of the salt water tanks to the back of the shop and he set up a bunch of new ones. The new one don't have anything in them yet, therefor, no lights need to be on. He doesn't have the business to keep a lot of expensive corals.
  16. Just what the title says. I lost my Coral Beauty and my Powder Brown tang about 4 weeks ago (entirely unrelated) and that has given the hair algae in my tank an advantage and has started taking over. So if anyone, specifically anyone Eugene area, has one that I could rent for a couple of weeks or buy off them let me know.
  17. I've got a 1200 that came with a Seaclone skimmer that I'd trade
  18. See, to me, that's around $100 that I could spend on getting the rest of this set up. It's one of those things that, to me, it would be nice, but not necessary. So, now that the idea has been implanted in my head, it my happen sometime after this system gets up and running.
  19. The sump is going through the wall behind this stand.
  20. I'm trying to work out a stand to hold my 55g display and my new baffled 33L. If anybody has some good ideas sketch 'em out and post them. Here's what I've got so far with Sketch Up so far. They are not finished; I'm suffering from a severe lack of patience with Sketch Up. The stand is 42"H x 60"L x 30"W, and it's connected to the wall(that's what those boards behind it are). The bottom shelf is 24" off the ground. I'm really interested in any designs that could save wood without bargaining strength.
  21. You'd have to win the lottery to get LED. They're really expensive from what I've seen, and eventually you would have to replace them.
  22. Maybe this is nothing but you say that this tank used to be fish only? Did you ever treat the tank for anything (Ich, ect.) with a copper based medication?
