  1. I've run skimmerless for 2 years now, over a year on the current tank, and the only problem I've got is that my CUC was never large enough, a dozen hermits and a couple of nassarius and a conch are not enough LOL but, as long as you have a good CUC, good flow, and a nice fuge, you'll be just fine as long as you do proper water changes.
  2. Donate it to TFT before tossing it, I've heard theres a few mods that can be done to those skimmers to make them "decent", but personally, even though I run skimmerless, I wouldn't use it LOL. But, TFT might have a use for it, hell, Roger's kids might have fun modding it.
  3. John, if you feel up to it, run skimmerless until you can afford one that will fit in the area it's gotta go in. Sell that one and put the money towards some other aspects of the build.
  4. +infinity, completely scratch the canister filter idea dude, completely a waste of time in the saltwater hobby lol. A nice sump, return pump, and refugium is all you need. You don't NEED a skimmer, as long as you stay on top of your water quality and water changes, and keep your bioload smallish, or your refugium big. I've never run a skimmer, and have sold 2 that I picked up cheap, because I just don't feel it's worth it, at this juncture, for me to run one. I know several people, including one of the mods on this board, who run skimmerless and never have any problems. Shoot a message to pledosophy if you have any questions about running skimmerless.

    Help with ID

I tried sending this from the phone but couldn't get it to load, so here goes. Dude, shoot a message to grassi, aka Alex, he needs aptaisia for his bergia nudibranch farm, and will either pay for the rock, take it an clean it of all aptaisia and return it and will probably give ya a few frags on top of it lol. He's a great guy to deal with and is one of the most knowlegable people I've ever met in regards to the hobby, his system is a must see, while it's not the biggest around, it's one of the most well run and thouroughly tested systems you'll ever see. Dude knows his stuff and is a pleasure to be around.
  6. Jess loves sushi, I love fried chicken, how in the hell could you ever go wrong? We'll be checking it out once it opens, so we can give a good review, I'll let her write up the sushi review, she tends to be a bit of a snob towards sushi places LOL.
  7. We'll be there, I'd offer to let someone ride with us, but since we have to bring Clyde, our big pit, it's kinda hard lol.
  8. That's always a good sign man, means your tank is goin good. Just watch out for the worms, if you see some that look like bristleworms, but are reddish orange and the bristles are out 24/7, then they're bad LOL.
  9. You don't want anymore turbos than that, trust me LOL I'd add 5-6 Nassarius and 5-6 Astreas at least, and probably another dozen hermits or so, if you shop around, shops will give you hellacious deals when buying multiples, and I know Garrett's got some awesome deals on inverts, and his shipping prices are next to nothing.
  10. In your 40b, I'd suggest 2 dozen hermits, 2 dozen assorted snails, 2 conchs and a tigertail cuke, hold off on the conchs an the tigertail for another month or 2, but start adding the others as you can.
  11. Scott, it's quite possible, if you used all seasoned, live rock, that you had a very small cycle. Take a sample of your water to one of the stores and have them do a double check on the tests for you, since API's are notoriously unreliable lol, but, I'd say your cycle is probably over and you can start slowly, very very very slow, adding stock.
  12. I found these on ReefBuilders.com, they did a quick write up about em: http://reefbuilders.com/2011/03/21/happy-people-eater-zoanthid/ And here's the link to the site selling them: http://www.happycoral.com/products/503-happy-people-eaters.aspx 10 bucks a polyp minimum 3 per order aint a bad price, and these are some wicked looking PE's for [language filter] sure.
  13. [language filter], if I hadn't gotten all my corals outta the tank, I'd so take that off your hands man lol. Bump fora good deal.
  14. [language filter] lol i couldnat make it til sunday lol
  15. No worries Rich, an I'd rethink the damsels, they don't have dam in their word for no reason LOL
  16. Roy I hate you, we finally found a chalice that is a gotta have....how much for a frag of that bottom chalice? Its gotta wait til I'm done with the rebuild but we want a frag of that one lol
  17. something like a milk carton maybe Franklin? I know Alex uses one in his stock tank that he's using as a sump.
  18. Cello, you can generally find 75's for around 100 bucks if you shop around, give a shout-out to Garrett an see if he can't help you find something, you'll be a LOT happier with it than you will that 55 lol
  19. Oh yeah, it's split 3 times now I think it is since I got it, I've stopped feeding it, about 3 weeks now I guess, since I'm getting ready to finish emptying the tank out for the big tear down n rebuild, but once I get everythign back up and going, I plan on feeding it every other day, I want it to get as big as possible, since the clowns are getting bigger and I think with the size it is(it's kinda small) the clowns are just beating it up lol.

    New Build

Charles, you do awesome work man, can't wait to see this build in all it's glory.
  21. Kim, you can always go back tomorrow, he says he's got plenty left LOL Like you guys need more corals, with deals like that, you'll end up cleaning him out LOL
  22. I think his plan for that middle piece is to make a spot for his 33L than have his sump sit on the floor, I think....That'd make it a display fuge, I think, but then again, I'm really really bad at reading minds LOL
  23. Whatever big chunk of food doesn't fall apart when I'm feeding the rest of the tank LOL My B&W's love the nem, they alternate between it an the frogspawn.
  24. Well Dave, I can say that my RBTA doesn't move, period, why I don't know, but he won't move off of his rock....They're pretty easy to care for to be honest, I feed him 2-3 times a week and he stays happy.
