  1. Yeah, it's hard to tell from the pics but it looks as of they are being grown over with a fungus. That might be the reason they aren't doing so well in the tank. It's been my opinion that zoo's will adapt to most any light.
  2. it is surely (a-neh-moe nee) anemone. Reefjunkie is correct, some people just hear it pronounced wrong and run with it, some people just don't know.
  3. They are pronounced as both. You can say I ma looking to get some new Zoo's or Zoas (zo-uhs)
  4. (worthless) Seriously though I might know someone who is interested, would love some pics.
  5. Does appear to be a flower pot coral.
  6. Will this have an in wall tank viewable from the house? Or just a great room to play around in? Looks great so far, keep the pics posted as it progresses, I just love to watch this stuff.
  7. I would recommend setting up a copepod breeding system. THese guys will not normally go to frozen foods and can starve quickly.
  8. Thank you, that is who I am looking for.
  9. There is a club member who I believe is a retired veterinarian in Astoria and I am cant remember what his user name is.
  10. Well the good news is that if you have all kinds of "seen" hitchhikers then you will more then likely have a bunch of good unseen ones as well.
  11. I think that Acropora is the spelling you are looking for. IME there is no reason at all to do a water change as large or anywhere near 100% You can drain your water out into your rubbermaid tubs with all of your goodies and when you get down to the last few inches, get rid of all that with your CC and that will get rid of any unwanted detritus. But as stated before add your live rock first to avoid rocks shifting later from sand sifters and general settling, then sand.
  12. Awesome man, those guys are badass. I always wanted a seahorse tank.
  13. Usually (from what I have seen) the fungias that zoo's suffer from are very obvious. This was probably a predator of sorts, they aren't usually easy to see. Without anything in the tank for them to eat Nudibranchs will die off eventually.
  14. My guess would be that if this has only been going for 9 months that you got them from your live rock and just hadn't seen them until now.
  15. To be honest with you I can't imagine you needing more light then a 150w over the top of a 29g and you could choose from a spectrum of colors and brands. Unless you are just looking run a spread lighting cycle with them, in which case I would suggest t5's simply because you can buy a wider array of light spectrum's and they are more reliable then PC, and smaller and more compact then VHO. I would say that if you were running a 10k metal halide and 2 actinic t5's that you would have more then enough light
  16. Your phosphates could be the issue, also what kind of test kit are you using? Some are much more accurate then others. The other area of focus would be what you have in the tank, how many fish, etc. With a tank that small I would not worry about using something like a GFO, there is no reason IMO (in my opinion) Why you shouldn't be able to run this tank completely natural as long as it is not overstocked; but being that we are talking about a 20 gallon tank that would be pretty easy to do. What are you using for filtration?

    LOST

my opinion was though the first 2 seasons it was pretty awesome. Then I jumped back in not remembering where I left off and started again on the 4th season and everything went all stupid. I just can no longer stay interested in that show. I understand that there are only so many things you can do on this island and they had to come up with something but geez, I just dont get it. Just my opinion I know a lot of people love this show but it was the same thing as Smallville, great for a while and then "is this supposed to be entertaining?"
  18. Here is a link to the company that I bought mine from. I believe mine is a 1-150 gpd unit at 100.00 and has performed flawlessly and the seller is very accomodating. What Mandinga said is very true, replacing the cartridges on used systems will be almost as much as the price of a new one. http://stores.ebay.com/purewaterclub
  19. I am really with Rick on this. If I do any photo editing it's because the camera I have to take the pics with provides a very lackluster representation that is not at all what it really looks like in my tanks. It really is in the integrity of the seller to properly represent the coral for what it really looks like no matter what the means to get it done. Anyone could say they don't photoshop and not be lying if they are using a different photo editing program. Or could say the same and just use a color enhancing filter, or set the color enhancement inside the camera. I mean there are a hundred ways a guy could get around saying they are "photoshopping" but if they are lying they are lying. Not to mention the obvious that there are color differences between most monitors and in different brands, wattage, and kelvin of lighting. The bottom line is that any type of color "enhancement" is wrong, to make a coral look brighter, more colorful or have stronger contrast is misrepresenting the product. But if I was to take what comes out as an 18' photo and cut it down in photoshop to a photo that is 6' and ready for a listing I would still technically be photoshopping.
