  1. This happens all the time. I think the laws should be MUCH stricter regarding these types of crimes.
  2. There is nothing you can do. Chances are he could very well just not have liked where you put him the first time so he has decided to move out. There is also a possibility that he is dying but from what you described I would say the prior. Also some times they will just shoot off the feather and grow new ones.
  3. I had a colony of duncans with around 150+ heads on it, and I bought it to frag and sell but after a short while in my tank I just couldn't get myself to cut it up so I sold it to Garrett for price, I am pretty sure he had no problem.
  4. I'm not shy to admit feeling a little bad sometimes, don't get me wrong I think that kenya tree had it coming. I think it is a simple matter of getting attached to your corals. I moved a shrimp last night from one tank to another and in his little pinchers stuck to the net and he came right out without them. I felt pretty bad, he didn't seem to mind though.
  5. watch those cinnamon zoo's, they will take over eventually. If you want to break up the monotany of those I have some similar bright green ones you can throw in there with those. I'll hook you up with a nice frag free of charge.
  6. I was going to say that that rock didn't look so hard to catch but now I see him in there. Very clever indeed. I remember being so frustrated for so long trying to get rid of a blue damsel when I first started that I even resorted to a small fishing hook, some line and bait. In the end I had to tear all the rock out:( Very good job!
  7. I too would like to hear more about why everyone is so against a closed loop. I have never had one myself but in theory it has always sounded like a great way to go. Secondly are the Mp40's or other comparable powerheads really that reliable? I am asking honestly cause I have never ran them either.
  8. I have never tried any of the newer cone skimmers but I can say that the older style pyramid skimmers and what not were a total flop IMO. I have an Octopus skimmer now and it is AWESOME. The only other skimmers I have tried that I would suggest over them are the Aqua-c skimmers, however these fall flat on their faces in a efficiency test against the Octopus, but are very strong runners.
  9. I am still curious about the pins on the acrylic. I have only glued 1 tank together and it was pretty thin maybe 3/8 I think but no pins were needed. I used a couple of speed squares and the super thin #16 I believe acrylic cement and it just sucks right into the spaces very nicely on it's own. I do believe it is recommended that you use the thicker as well afterward but I never had to. So are the pins needed because the acrylic is so thick or because you used a thicker acrylic cement? Beautiful build by the way, it's not often you get to see builds done with such quality and time taken.
  10. My guess would be that this was at a burlington coat factory ( although I dont know for sure) He is probably one o the guys that stands around there throwing red paint on peoples fur coats when they leave. I can honestly say that I love animals and I am sure that the high demand for these types of fur coats leads to the inevitable inhumane treatment of these animals which seems wrong. But there is a big difference between protesting and putting peoples lives in danger. Nope, I am sure of it he got what he had coming, especially if you're not smart enough to make sure the door is unlocked first, ha ha ha I mean you really only get one shot at something like that. And for gods sake just make a mol tov, don't make yourself into one, what is that?
  11. NOw were tankin, just gas em out. Ozone is terribly effective and I don't know of any downsides as long as it is done right. That doesn't mean there aren't any downsides though, HA!
  12. Search on eBay, there are some pretty reliable sellers there for some decent units. I got mine there for I want to say 85 shipped and it has been very reliable. Also you can tuck these up under a cabinet either bathroom or kitchen or even washroom quite easily and they don't have to be permanent. The problem with running such a small unit and keeping it portable is that it's not a quick change out, when they say 25 gallons a day they mean 24 hours. So even for just 10 gallons you are looking at keeping the sink occupied for 10 hours. I think my system is a 100 gpd but I dont remember for sure. Ask Racefan, I sent him in the direction of the guy I got mine from and I think he said the price had went up a little.
  13. NOt to mention that you generally dont need one running all the time.
  14. That is true but is not to say that you dont kill off good bacteria as well as bad which is why I suggested running for limited hours.
  15. Does anyone have the number for the guy at aquaticus, I know they are closed but I believe his name is Mark.
  16. The real downside to running a reef and a UV sterilizer is that your tank thrives off of the bacterias in it and your sterilizer will clear out any and all seen by it. I recommend using it for limited hours or just when things start to need it.
  17. I have a friend that had to do this and to be honest with you I don't think I would pass. I helped him study and to say the least I wasn't much help.
  18. A perfect example of when the things we own begin to own us. Best of luck with your overhaul, glad to hear you haven't decided to give up. I forget from your prior post if you said that you run a refugium or not.
  19. Lets not be greedy Garrett, everybody likes cookies.
  20. You know man, if you just put some water in that tank you wont have to worry about clamping it to the table, it will just stay there on it's own.
  21. Yeah the story was that this guy had been protesting a fur store in the area and had been screaming "there are animals dying" then supposedly set himself on fire and attempted to run into the fur store, probably to burn the stock, but the door to the store was locked. Ha ha that rhymed. Funny that my paper here in Longview gave more on the story then the Portland area papers.
  22. What all did are you suspected to have killed? I know that the lack of flow would really be a minor issue as long as it was for a short time.
  23. HDwobble, ha ha this app just cracks me up, and you can use your own pics. Not to hijack your thread Eric but anyone got any good apps for use on the HTC touch 2 pro, I have a 16g card just begging to be used more.
