  1. OK. You've got 4 or 5 fairly large fish in a 40b. You've probably got a fair amount of rock in there along with some corals. So your fish have basically no room to move around. IMO these fish are WAAAAYYY too stressed in that tank. You need to remove at least 2 of those fish (preferably the largest ones) or get a much larger tank pronto. You can do everything under the sun to eradicate this parasite, but your fish will still be way too stressed in that environment and will never be healthy. I believe that stress is the number 1 cause of ich in a home aquarium. Keep your tank stress free and your fish will be healthy. This means water params steady and under control, lots of room to swim around, lots of good hiding places, etc. Good luck
  2. Just out of curiosity.....Why the heck would you run bleach in your tank because a heater blew up? Did someone tell you this was a good thing to do?
  3. Well, we could just ask cyberboy, he was a pb winner. Wait...he hasn't been around lately, I wonder whatever happened to him? -Sorry, I couldn't help it. (whistle)
  4. I'm in Singapore for the next week or so and it's 90+ degrees with 80+% humidity. I miss the PNW weather. I'll trade ya.
  5. This stuff is SO perfect for this application I just may get into a side business making custom stands out of it. You could literally build a stand in a day that would outlast and out perform any other Aquarium stands out there.
  6. OK. With all due respect, steel of any kind is a bad idea. In the long term it WILL rust and/or corrode around saltwater no matter what the coating. I've been in the metalworking business for over 35 years so I know of what I speak. The problem is, rust is often invisible, you don't know that it's corroded until it breaks. Stainless is better (and a LOT more expensive), but it will still corrode in saltwater. If you are set on something besides wood, I would suggest aluminum. Specifically this stuff: http://www.8020.net/ Check out this comparison: http://www.8020.net/T-Slot-1.asp It's strong, lightweight and it's fairly cheap (wood is still cheaper). It is basically an industrial Erector Set. You could put it together in a day with a tape measure, wood cutting bandsaw or tablesaw and an allen (hex) wrench. No welding, coating or painting required. It can readily accept any kind of skinning (wood, plexiglass, whatever). It's actually pretty cool stuff. This is what we make assembly lines out of at HP.
  7. Your best bet is to get one from a welding supply store. Just trade it in when empty.
  8. Kim, You saw the stand for my tank after the last meeting....I built that. I can build you something similar. You buy the materials and we can work out the rest. The only catch is that next week I'm heading to Singapore for at least 2 weeks. If you can wait a bit, we can work something out.
  9. I have one too. I think it's an 4-MDQ-SC. Very similar to this one: http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4587+4614&pcatid=4614 It's a little noisy but it works great. $40.00 or equivalent in corals.
  10. Are they colorful? Pics would help. Depending on looks, tentatively put me down for at least one.
  11. Try these..... http://hellolights.com/150whlmhretrofitkithqi.aspx Great little reflector and ballast setup. Not too spendy either.
  12. I have a One Spot Foxface Rabbitfish that's about 8 inches long I want to get out of my tank. He eats out of my fingers. I also have a 5 inch Blue Tang that I'd like to find a good home for.
  13. Bumping up for the weekend. Would be interested in trades for Monti Caps: Orange, green, purple or otherwise.
  14. I really hate to do this but my Foxface has taken a liking to my beautiful Open Brain (flame) I have a cage over it now to protect it but either it or the Foxface needs to go. The Brain is easier to catch so I guess it's going. When it's open it's about the size of a half sheet of paper and it looks really good. I paid $65.00 for it at Upscales about a year and a half ago when it was 1/3 the size it is now. I'd like to get $75.00 for it. I live about 3/4 of a mile from the meeting tomorrow, so if anyone's interested, please send me a PM. [/url]

  16. May be interested in the clam. PM sent.
  17. I have some Pocillipora frags and whole bunch of GSP, Kenya Tree and Big Hairy Green and Metallic Mushrooms. Trade for whatever else ya got. I'll post pics tomorrow.
  18. The meeting is only another 20-25 minutes from Garretts, you should try and make it while you're down this way.
  19. Hold on to some large acan frags for me will ya Ryan?
  20. All for Fish in Albany sells these and in fact may be the seller you refer to on ebay. The construction looks ok. They are cheap (inexpensive). Mr.S has a couple in his school tanks. I'm gonna buy one of the larger ones next week. If you come to the meeting, there will be 10% off coupons for All for Fish available. The store is less than five minutes from N. Albany Middle School.
  21. PM Sent - Interested in the Orange Crush and Birdsnest.
  22. How 'bout the Vortech, is it for sale? Nice looking setup BTW.
  23. Epoxy/acrylic strip won't hold it. I tried on my son's 55. When we filled it, it held for a couple hours then BANG! it let go. We immediately drained the tank. What I ended up doing is using a piece of 1/8 acrylic about 4 inches long and drilled two holes on either side of the break and used 4 stainless steel screws, washers and nuts to hold it together. I use it for a mixing tank now and it works as good as new.
  24. Not meaning to go OT but.... Is that a technical term? Whatever, I like it! (clap)
