  1. After my recent adventure (see Damsels in Distress), needless to say I will never buy another live animal from them. There are other, MUCH more reputable and friendly dealers around locally that will get all of my business from now on. I am up to putting my name on that (or any) letter as well. -Scott
  2. The small white spot has now grown and taken out about 20% of the tail fin. There is a big notch in the fin and it is lined with white fuzz. He is now gasping. 2 down 1 to go....
  3. Ok. How do you go about getting Damsels outta your tank? (scratch) Another of the three that I bought from my local P*tco DOH! has some sort of fungus growing on it's tail fin and I want it out of my tank! Does anyone have any surefire methods of removing fish from a tank full of live rock? I'm about ready to drop a firecracker in there and let them float to surface. Also, will this fungus have a negative affect on future residence fish? Will it die off after a few days without a host? Thanks, Scott
  4. Hi, I'd be interested in the rock and a few corals. That is, if you decide to part it out. -Scott
  5. Update #2 Well, He's now swimming with the fi.....ah, I mean I got him out of the tank and sent him off to wherever fishes go when they expire. Thanks for the advice. -Scott
  6. Update!! So after 6 hours of hiding out, he made a reappearance. He is still gasping for air though. I am encouraged that he is still alive, but my wife thinks I should 86 him before he does kick the bucket. What do you think? -Scott
  7. Hi, I bought 3 Damsels yesterday for my new 72 gal bow. One seems to be missing in action. This morning he was gasping but still swimming. Around noon he went MIA. I've moved all the rocks that he was hanging around and can't find him anywhere. Do I need to worry about this? In addition to the DT I have a 20 gal sump. Will the dead, missing fish mess up my params so bad it will kill everything else? Thanks for any advice you can offer. -Scott
  8. It's very close to the dims in an earlier post. I will bring it with me and see if it fits. PMing now.... -Scott
  9. I'd like to come by and see the stand. I bought one of those BioCube knock-offs our LFS sells and need a stand for it. I'm in Albany and available pretty much anytime until Monday. Let me know. -Scott
  10. Tank's going great! Hey Brandon, Got back last night. Happy New Year! My wife was right, brown algae everywhere. I cleaned as much as I could, but how do you get it off the rocks?(scratch) We did buy a couple Turbo Snails @ Petco today, but one is riding piggyback on the other and won't let go.DOH! We also bought a Condylactis Anemone (it seemed to adapt very well so far) and 3 Damsels. If you're not busy tomorrow or Sat., I'd like ya to come over and check it out and let me know what you think. I'd be interested in some of your stuff if the Damsels do okay in the next couple weeks or so. See ya, Scott
  11. First Pics! Greetings, Well, I got up this morning to a beautifully clear tank. I thought it would take longer. Checked the Ammonia (.25) and took some pics. Please give me your thoughts on the layout. Also, Could someone identify the hitchhiker that came on one of the Tonga rocks. I believe it is a some kind of Feather Duster. There are 3 of them. Do you guys think they'll make thru the cycle? Thanks, Scott
  12. Got more rock! Well, My wife and I bit the bullet and spent our Christmas cash on about 45 lbs of rock from Liquid Sunshine today (they have a 20% off "everything in the store" sale going on thru Sunday the 21st). Split about 50/50 Fiji and Tonga. We bought some very nice stuff. So between yesterday and today , I've added about 80 lbs of rock. It has filled out the tank nicely. I also added 80 lbs of sand this afternoon, and am waiting for it to settle out. I'll post pics tomorrow after it clears. Thanks for the welcomes everyone, I really appreciate the friendliness. -Scott To tidalsculpin: I'm going out next weekend to the Wilson with a buddy from work. Depending on weather of course.
  13. I've been lurking here since I bought my 72 gal Bowfront, sump and lights from one of the members here about a month ago. I just got it set up. Added saltwater last Saturday and about 40 lbs of live rock from another member today. I'm looking for another 40 lbs or so so that I can get this thing kicked into gear (anybody got some extra...? (whistle)). It's hard to be patient, but this is the one piece of advice I've gotten from just about everybody. I'll try to post some pics soon. I've enjoyed reading other folks' adventures and look forward to sharing my own. -Scott
