  2. Hey all, I haven’t been around in a few years after selling my 180. Good to see a lot of familiar names still around. I just found a box with a bunch of phosphate control stuff, including a Hanna Checker. I’m in Albany. $25.00 for the box. Someone come and please come and get this before it goes to Goodwill. The phosphate reagent expired a few years ago, but everything else is new and un-opened I even have a 5 year old bag of SeaVeggies, never been opened. 😀 Scott - 541-990-1559
  3. If anybody is on the fence about the price, please hit me up with a pm or text and make me an offer. I am eager to sell. Someone could piece this out and easily get 3X more for the equipment and rock than I am asking for it. For those that are asking for individual anemones or fish, I cannot remove any right now, the nems are fully embedded in the rock and I would rather not stir stuff up by removing rocks just to get one or two out.

  5. Thanks Kim. Even though it was a struggle at times, the tank has been pretty stable for about 3 years. I still love the hobby, I've just moved on to other hobbies and want to do more traveling. Hopefully someone can take the whole thing off my hands. -Scott
  6. Hi all, Sadly, It's time to get out of the hobby. So, I have a 180 gallon full set-up for sale. I realize that this will be difficult, but I would really like to sell the whole thing at once. I will make someone a heck of a deal if they will come and take it all away. This tank has been up since January 2010. A couple years ago something went thru my tank and several of my larger fish developed HLLE. They don't look so good, but they are healthy now and have been going strong for several years since it happened. I lost most of my corals a few years back as well, but what has survived is doing very well. Here's what I have: Equipment: 180 All Glass tank with corner overflows Custom furniture quality, heavy duty stand and canopy 40g breeder sump, custom built Aqua C EV240 Skimmer w/ a Mag 24 pump and overflow container Pacific Coast 1/2hp Chiller Calcium reactor with CO2 tank, regulator and PH Controller ReefKeeper Lite Controller 2 LED light fixtures and 1 MH fixture - These will need to be replaced All water change equipment - Containers, pumps, heaters, etc. Tons of ancillary equipment - too much to remember or list Livestock: 2 Percula Clownfish 2 Pink Skunk Clownfish 1 Purple Tang 1 Chocolate Tang 1 Sailfin Tang - Healthy, but cosmetically affected by the HLLE 1 OSFF Rabbit Fish - Healthy, but cosmetically affected by the HLLE Currently about 12 RBTA's - They seem to do very well in my tank, I've had as many as 30 at one point. Currently about 6-8 GBTA's - They also seem to do very well in my tank Tons of mushrooms, Kenya Trees, a couple large Leathers, lots of GSP 200+ pounds of live rock Who knows what else might be living in there. I realize that I would be better off parting this out, but, at this point in time, I don't want the hassle. I would like to sell this to someone as a whole deal. I am mostly concerned about my fish. As we know, they do become our pets and I would like them to go to a good home. All my fish have lived peacefully together since the beginning, more than 7 years ago, and I would like to keep them together if possible. While the larger fish don't look so great, but are otherwise healthy, both sets of clownfish are pretty close to show quality and they all live harmoniously together. $1000.00 for everything listed and more.   7. Hey Mike, It's not quite what you're looking for, but I got a 6' 24" 180 gallon full set up. Stand, canopy, 40 gal breeder sump, AquaC EV 240 skimmer, calc reactor w/tank, LED's, 1/2 hp chiller and a controller. It's full of 200+ lbs of live rock, dozens of RBTA's and GBTA's and tons of other livestock. Just about every thing. It's been set up since January 2010. I hate to break it down, but I want to get out of the hobby. $1500.00. -Scott

  9. Wow! There's a lot of mis information in this one thread. First, nems don't need clean water. Miine have thrived in water that has nitrates up to 80 and above. Second, DO NOT FEED THEM!!!! Think about these things in the wild. No one is coming by and cramming a fish down their gullets. They are not hunters. They are very simple creatures that, IME, are the easiest things to take care of in your tank. I NEVER directly feed the 14 or 15 that are in my tank right now. I broadcast feed once a week, if I remember. No one knows why they sometimes shrivel up, sometimes they are expelling waste, sometimes they split, other times, who knows. As long as they are still attached to a rock, DON'T BOTHER THEM. Stop feeding them and just relax. Only if they detach and start floating around the tank should you remove them. The only nem I ever lost was a Sebae. All of my BTA's came from a single one purchased four years ago. I'll bet that within a few days to a week or so, they will be back to normal.
  10. +1. Do not move the clam. Either move the FS or leave them alone. If the clam is unhappy, he will move on his own. Again, think about these creatures in the wild. Sessile creatures do not rely on us to move them if they get too close to something. Corals on the other hand, do need us to move them if they are in harms way.

    The bottom two pics do not look like a sick or otherwise unhealthy nem. RBTA'S do not attach themselves to the wall of a tank. They find a hole or a crevise in a rock and anchor the foot in there. When they do not attach to a rock and float around the tank, then you have something to worry about. Right now, I have about 12 in my tank, and have removed at least 12 more, all from one original split about three and a half years ago. They all look like yours for a while after they split. I know it's distressing the first time it happens but as long as it looks anything like what we see in the pic, do not worry about it, just leave it alone and don't mess with it, you will likely do more harm than good if you do.

    What's the problem? They both look fantastic. Don't sweat it. In the wild, you are not there to fuss and worry about it and they manage to survive just fine. Mine have spit about 30 times and they all do just fine. In fact, your "mother" probably came from one of mine at some point in the past. It'll be just fine, don't worry.
  13. Just out of curiosity, why would you think that you could not have both in the same tank?
  14. It looks great! You should do nothing to help it along or ensure it lives. Within a few days both of them will be healed up and normal. I've had this happen about 12 times so far and they've all managed just fine without any interference from me.
  15. Jason, the old proprieter of The Coral Reef, once told me to smell the sand. Take a handful from several areas and smell it. If it smells like the beach, go ahead and reuse it without rinsing. If it smells like rotten eggs, either toss it or rinse it well and dry it out to kill all the bad stuff. I followed this advise during two upgrades and never lost a single piece of livestock.

  17. My experience has been that once it spawns, it lasts only another day or two before it dies. I've had two do that on me. Hopefully you're experience will be different, but keep a close eye on it. Good luck
  18. You know what...Cooking on a Traeger is so easy, you won't mind doing it. Really, all you do is turn it on, put your food in and take it out when it's to temp. That's it. Be sure to get a remote thermometer. Mine has a base station that is connected to the probe and sits on the pellet hopper and a remote unit that stays in the house with me. I cook in the rain or snow because I never have to check my food. Unless it's a burger or steak you don't ever have to turn the food. Put the food in and take it out. It's that easy.

  20. That's only partially true. Traeger is still headquartered in Mt. Angel, Oregon. Due to manufacturing costs, the components are made in China now, but so is everything you buy now-a-days. It is still a quality unit and made as well as anything.
  21. I bought a Traeger on December 30th and you will have to pry it from my cold dead hands to get it away from me. I LOVE the thing. I sold my Weber Silver Genesis because I will never use a gas grill again. I've used my Traeger more in the past 7 months than I used my Weber in 7 years. ANYTHING you cook on a Traeger comes out better. There are no flare ups. You will never burn another piece of food ever again. The food is so much more juicy, more flavorful and it is much easier to use than a gas grill. As Smann says, it cooks using convection heat and wood smoke. This is what makes the food so moist and tender. It does not dry out the meat. I cook chickens, steak, hamburgers, pork shoulder, ribs, whole NY strip, brisket, Tri-Tip, turkey, grilled zucchini, potatoes, even pizza and chocolate chip cookies on it. The thing is great. When I do pulled pork, I usually do a 9-10 pound pork shoulder. I set my Traeger to 180 degrees, put the pork butt on at 11:00 PM, and go to bed. I have a remote thermometer (a must have) and I literally do not need to open the door until the thermometer tells me my food is ready about 3:00 PM the next day. I need a large spatula to remove it from the grill because it just falls apart. It is the juiciest piece of meat you will ever eat. I usually do 2 chickens at once and they take about an hour and a half or so and come out perfect every time. I did smoked turkey legs one time and when my son stuck a fork in one, the juice squirted across the table and hit me in the chest. I did an 18 pound turkey, just to see how it would turn out, and it was the best turkey my family has ever eaten. You could squeeze the juice out of the turkey breast. I too heard people say that you can't really cook a steak or hamburgers on it, but that is just not true. Turn it up to 400 degrees and 15-20 minutes later you will have the best steak or burgers you've ever eaten. My wife used to hate BBQ. Since I bought the Traeger, she loves it and wants me to cook something every day. Even people at work are bringing meat for me to cook for them. IMHO, run, do not walk, to the nearest Traeger dealer and buy one. It is an amazing grill. Unless you need something bigger, I would recommend the Lil Tex with the digital thermometer even if it is just for you and your wife. It is big enough to do 4 10 pound pork shoulders, or an 18 pound turkey. The Lil Tex junior is just too small for home use but would be great for apartment life or tailgating.
  22. IMO, you should stop dosing anything. For your size tank, the only thing you should be doing is a weekly 20% water change. This should keep any params well in the safe zone. When you start dosing you will get into the cycle you're in now. Test kits are notoriously inaccurate, a little too much or too little water (or reagent) in the vial and your readings can be wildly off. And then when you start dosing to inaccurate readings, bad things start to happen. Don't sweat it. With the corals you have, the demands that are placed on your system can easily be handled by water changes.
