  1. make sure you address the issue. I had one explode from getting splashed. The bad part is I was at work and came home to find it much later. the light was still on and the outer glass was at the bottom of the tank. It killed off a fair amount of coral in my tank and all because I adjusted the korillia a little before I left. It was making a splash with one or two drops of water every few minutes and that was enough to do it. Be greatful you were home and the lights were off. make sure it can't happen again...
  2. Just to help this post out I thought I would offer my thoughts... I also own an '01 TT and have for 6 years. I bought it with 34K on the odometer and it will roll over 140K tomorrow. This is a car that has been by far, the most reliable car I've ever owned. I've NEVER had a breakdown and only ever replaced general wear items and a headlight switch. It is also a car I now plan on keeping forever because I fell in love with everything about it, and quite frankly, I can't bare to let it go. I hope whoever gets this car ends up having the same feeling about it. These cars are monsters in the snow(much better than my land Rover even) and corner like a dream. It's a total '3rd gear therapy' car. Little German Tanks I tell ya!!!
  3. yep, this is the stuff he does while he sleeps... I'll second that motion!
  4. go to ace and ask to look in the order catalog. They do have them but you need to find it in there to get the order code for them. believe me, your better off searching in the book for it then having them do it. I have 3 here somewhere but I couldn't find them. I ordered 6 from ace when I found them. Three for a build I did and three spare for my build later so I know they are out there and ace can get them... good luck
  5. do yourself a favor and get the bulk heads first. most are the same but some are not. Then order based off your measurement. give about 2mm leeway over the threads and not much more. the motion used when drilling will naturally make it a little larger then the bit size. More glass left=less chance of a leak
  6. I'm truly very sorry for your loss. I know exactly what you are going though. I lost my Grandpapa, who was more or less my second dad a little over a month ago at 81. He was the single greatest man I knew and it was a horrible feeling to have when it happened. It won't get easier, only more painful in concentrated moments. A song, or a smell sets it off for me and I am almost in tears no matter what. Be thankful you had the relationship you did, and also the time at the end that you did as well...
  7. little bump Yea I still have these things, totally forgot about them. I'm just looking to get them out of my garage for a decent price, make me an offer!!!
  8. There were a few(very few) that actually got a cloth insert with rubber coils stitched in. It was an option almost nobody put in. I'm searching high and low for a set... They are beautiful and rare. I figured yours were just standard leather since 98% are but i still had to ask. Car looks good btw! Good luck with the sale....
  9. you may not even know what I'm talking about but it's worth a shot. Are they full leather seats or sport cloth leather seats? Shot in the dark:)
  10. I have a friend that may be interested in this sending pm now...
  11. as long as it wont fit in it's mouth it's reef safe...
  12. I've heard great things about the yellow corus but I love my melinarus to death. He took care of every little pest i ever saw. he has been the model citizen.
  13. It's really up to you but the reason you put one in is for the ability to clean and maintain the pump or to replace it. Most external pumps need some sort of periodic maintenance to keep them running optimally. You don't have to use one but it is really a good idea to do so. It won't restrict any flow an less you are reducing the pipe size for some reason. You shouldn't be doing this anyway. The only other option I see(and not a great one) is to put in a threaded bulkhead and whenever you need to remove the pump you would need to put a threaded plug in the bulkhead. This is still going to leave a fair amount of water in there for when the pump is removed. You try to put the ball valves as close to the pump ends as possible with unions so you can have very little water spillage. True union ball valves work the best for this and can be picked up for pretty cheap at Lowes now a days. Either way you have to at least put in a union so the pump can eventually be pulled off somehow...
  14. in that case it may be better to eradicate them by other means. I just figured you meant bristle since most people get them confused. I would still dig the sandbed and clean it and move the fish to finish the plumbing. May have to soak the rock sadly, not too many other surefire ways to get them gone without an enemy known to eat them...
  15. You kinda need to approach the problems separately. First is the worms. I went through this exact problem. I didn't know what to do but I was told about the melinarus wrasse. I really was more after his ability to control the monti eating nudi's. I tried him and have praised him ever since. I've never seen another pest in the tank after the first week of having him. I had tons of those worms in my 75 too. I was just hoping to limit the population of worms and rid myself of the nudi's but he all but knocked them both into extinction. The may not play well with other wrasses but I don't know for sure since that's the only one I have. He is a constant hunter, my one fish security system if you will. you put your rock in a tank with him and no sand and he will get them all by the end of the week. Maybe put a tub of sand in the bottom so he has a place to sleep at night, but away from the rocks. Then your free to use a net in the sand of your display and get out all the rest of them. After the Melinarus is done if you don't want him, just put him up for trade or sale. They are a great reef addition and you shouldn't have any trouble re-homing him. Only thing you could do better is to find a pair to speed up the job:) As for the re-plumbing, which I am a huge advocate of, you could get another tank to put your other fish and sand(after its cleaned of the worms) in so you can rework it. This should be a shorter fix time so just a tank with a hob filter should do the job for the few days you should need to get it done. This should help to not need a recycle period on the tank at all. You'll get a few little spikes at best I would think. I even have a HOB filter you could use if needed too. It was on a 55g running it long ago but it worked great then. This would be my plan of attack on the matter. I think if you soak the rock you will lose the good and the bad and probably need a little more of a recycle period. It probably wouldn't be anything drastic but along with that you'll be waiting for the good things to grow back in numbers as well. Oh and arrow crabs, they don't do well with wrasses, ask me how I know:) wrasses eat everything that looks like a pest, and those things look like spiders so you get the point... Oh, and if you do need any other assistance or have any questions PM me. I've been kinda in and out since my company merged. My schedule is horrible so I don't get much time for anything. I glance at my pm's more then anything...
  16. I may have a lead for you and I'll text ya later about it because I gotta find it but my plan if I couldn't find a BIG container was to run into one 55 with a float. Then BH it to another with a shut off valve in between. That way I could make 55 of RO and 55 of salt. When I do a water change I would just open the valve and let (X) amount of gallons refill into the salt side. Then the RO would fill both to the top again and isn't only making a little at a time. Plus both sides stay separated. I was working on getting a 300g one for my garage but gave up when funds got tight.

    dead swcd?

rc had a good thread on DIY seaswirls you may want to check out. I think powering it would be more reliable personally.
  18. you know you can send it to your bank account right?
  19. I tried to pair two up and and I gave it the best chance I could. I let them go at it for almost 2 weeks and it never got any better. Ones fins were all but gone and he had to hide in the back all the time. He only came out to try and find food when the other was hiding at night. It was sad to see and they ended up having to be split up. It just wasn't gonna happen. One would have died soon if I didn't intervene. Don't know if their is truth to this but I've been told Maroons are some of the hardest to pair up. You may be better off buying a mated pair instead. Maybe use yours for trade...
  20. Also there is the chevron tang. They are in effect the same thing as a kole but really pretty. I love my kole tang though. Look up vampire tang. They are also a favorite of mine. Something you don't see everyday and look great under the lights. I'll be putting one in my new tank if it ever goes up. Lol
  21. I have that variety, they get big fast. mine is about 2" from the water top and 6" from my 400w halide and it loves it...
  22. oh sweet, I'll pm him and have him get a hold of you to meet up. I have nothing to offer ya since I most likely won't make the meeting but I'll get ya if ya come up this way again. thanks for the help.
