  1. That sucks, these little ecosystems can run on autopilot for so long yet the strangest unknown things can piss them off.
  2. Got this in your text this morning but in case any others are wondering, the new combo is 3 Blue+, 2 Actinic, 1 Aquablue Special & 2 Purple+ obviously all ATI bulbs. The tank and stand will actually be going up for sale, not sure exactly how soon since were just now starting the planning / permit phase of building a new house. The new house will include a larger tank, how big I haven't quite decided on yet =)
  3. I'm battling something similar, I brought in a semi adult emp and it wiped out all my fish except for a 6 line and a hippo tang that may or may not make it... I think the tank is eventually going to consist of chromis and damsels. I'm so over fish, especially expensive ones. Thanks, the corals are coming along good, things should get interesting in the next few months since I'm going to be tearing the tank down and moving everything into a stock tank while we build a new house and I build a new bigger tank as well lol.
  4. Yeah we haven't seen an update on that new tank!
  5. Your welcome, stoked to see it all setup and running!
  6. That's what he told me as well... I do remember him using Iwasaki 6500k bulbs to grow things out then color them up under radiums. Maybe that was his secret.
  7. I take it you never made it over to Soutas back in the day... Tanks and more tanks all loaded with heads of Oregon Tort, I've never in my life seen anyone grow OBT like he used to. At one point I remember seeing like 50+ colonies on hand.
  8. Talk to Randall aka PowderBlue... He works for Car Toys. All my equipment is old school and all of the fiberglass in my car is 100% custom built. I haven't heard the JL stuff to have an honest opinion.
  9. I've noticed that from time to time when I click it, it'll just say no new content... Does it on my Mac and on my phone, I just just click it again and everything shows up as it should after the second click.

Tim where are you living now? For some reason I though I remember Travis saying you moved to the eastside. I've got a decent camera and can snap off a few pictures if you need. http://www.pnwmas.org/topic/32997-upgrade-time/page-3 Just shoot me a PM.
  11. I totally understand that and I've heard the same for some items, without disclosing what cost is on any specific item there are some items that a shop will actually lose money once they pay for freight to get an item here. So yes sometimes it's advisable to order online but not all the time. Again, this was meant to be a generalized post... I'm all about things being convenient but what we perceive to be convent at the moment might not be whats best for us in the long run. I just want to remind people to think about what things would be like without our LFS.
  12. I was about to ask why the hell you were selling an Apex you just bought a couple days ago lol! $600 is still a great deal for everything included, this should sell quick.
  13. Open a photobucket account and use the IMG tags to post your photos in the forum. If you need more help with it just ask.
  14. I just call it like I see it, those that know me personally know I'm usually a pretty nice guy and I'm always willing to help if someone needs it but I come with a no BS attitude towards life, my hobbies and my business as well. I've never been good at sugar coating things for people, so what you see is what you get...
  15. Oh and my point... Support your [language filter] LFS or they won't be around and your option will be take what you get online or go shop at Petco.
  16. I'm totally guilty myself too! In my opinion BRS is kind of a catch 22, like a lot of other businesses that make very little per item but sell mass quantities to keep themselves profitable. They're great for the customer but beat up the little guys, in this case the LFS. Bingo! You know what the problem is? People like yourself as well a few others are too [language filter] sensitive, put on your big boy OR girl pants, quit reading between the lines and looking for a reason to start a fight. Take the post for what it is, if you don't like it just don't even respond and it'll fall to the bottom and disappear for good and go away. I'm pretty sure Chris is a big enough boy and doesn't need some guardian to speak up for him when he's very well able to speak for himself. There, now I made it personal... Quit your [language filter] crying! I've been around this forum for a while now, something like 8-9 years now and there never used to be all this drama, people would speak their mind and have very open discussions that weren't necessarily pleasing to all but they were open and real conversations that weren't edited or overly moderated by using a "bad word" or wasn't PC enough and needed to be edited by a moderator. Hell we didn't even really have the need for more than one or two moderators. Everybody on this site wants to walk on pins and needles trying not to offend someone or hurt their sensitive feelers now, I'm honestly about two clicks of being done with this forum. I'm sure I won't be missed by many. Moderators do as you please...
  17. So I originally posted this in another thread but I think it warrants it's own thread as well. Here's where the post originated from... http://www.pnwmas.org/topic/34938-finally-pulled-the-trigger-on-a-big-order-eek/ Very cool that you're upgrading to some high quality equipment, it's nice to have a bunch of brand new toys! So I want to be clear that this is no way an attack on you, it just happens you posted a perfect example of something I've wanted to bring up for quite some time. Everything you purchased except for the filters has what's called MAP pricing (minimum advertised price) any shop in town could of given you those exact same prices Upscales, Cuttlefish etc. and probably even covered the shipping. The benefit of purchasing from a local store first and foremost you're supporting a local business and keeping your money local, we're all guilty of purchasing online and sometimes the deals are just too good to pass up. But the other perks of purchasing from a LFS is that you always have the support from the shop you purchased from, if there's an issue with the product and it needs to be sent in for repair, the shop takes care of it for you. A shop also has a lot more pull with the manufacturers and distributors. Have an issue after your warranty is up? Usually with most companies will work with an LFS a lot more than they will directly with the customer. Anyways, my point is we all need to remember to support our LFS as much as possible, I've traveled all over the country and I usually stop into most any saltwater store I'd come across and most of us here have no idea how spoiled we are! We have some wonderful stores here in the northwest and without our support they may not be here forever. Jeff and Travis are definitely not getting rich owning a LFS, and summertime is always hard for everyone business wise. SO next time you think about making any purchase, especially the big ones, think about your LFS, the guys who will always test your water for free, give you good advice on how to treat that sick fish, better your corals colors or always have that bottle in store of supplements or food you ran out of! I couldn't imagine how much it would suck to have to purchase everything online, especially fish and corals, so next time you get ready to click an order online think about that shop that we all so easily forget about sometimes. I know it's easier to order online and ship to your house but most shops also will take a CC over the phone and the worst thing is you'll have to go pick things up from the store. Who knows you might just find your new favorite fish or coral while your there as well...

I'm game, count me in. I always love a good Acro contest...
  22. How nice of the douchebag to sell that to you since we had already came to an agreement then he never responded with his phone number for me to pick it up... Anyways, you don't need the whole assembly.... all you need is a shaft, the spacers and a new pin wheel. Grab the magnet in one hand and the pinwheel in the other and pull on that sucker as hard as you can and the two pieces will separate, it'll feel like your gonna break it but you won't. The PSK2500 is a great pump as far as performance goes but it's also a finicky PITA and will always have starting issues. A Bubble blaster pump or a DC3500 should make that skimmer rock.
  23. Prepare to give it away for dirt cheap or wait till winter time and you'll have a better chance of getting your asking price... This happens every summer.
  24. I'll vouch for Scott, he's built precision industrial machinery for me in the past and he's without a doubt one of the most skilled welders a I've ever met. If you want the best Scott is your guy!
