  1. Its so cool when they reproduce I got to watch mine spawning out one time, the males and females would climb to the highest point on the rock and start shooting little bursts of eggs and sperm into the current together. My corals loved it, talk about polyp extension (clap)
  2. If anyone has a tank over run with zoas and they are feeling generous I would gladly take em off your hands (naughty)
  3. Its super easy, I used wire nuts and electrical tape. I could have sodered it and heat shrinked it but I didn't know how permanent it would be since I live in an apartment. I was actually debating on going to 2x 150w hqi's but I'm afraid of the heat(scary) Lemme know if you need help with any of it though
  4. I got my 70w ballast from ballastwise.com shipped for $39. Reflector and socket from home depot outside 300w DE floodlight $9.95, bulb you can get on ebay shipped for $25. total about $80 with new wire and connections and a grounded plug.
  5. I have a good sized harlequin shrimp that I can bring for trade for a few frags, he currently is residing in my sump after my pistol shrimp decided to take one of his hind legs off(sad) Still really healthy and eating fine, just needs a few molts to be perfect looking again Anyways, I'm sure someone coming to the meeting can give him a better home than a refugium sump where he never gets to be seen. Any interest? I'm always looking for a few new zoas I'll also have a chunk of blue polyped montipora, some palys, and I'll bring along 4-5 bags of caeto and calurpa.
  6. I'll definately bring a few frags of what ever I got on hand
  7. Steve's a real cool guy, he's hooked me up quite a few times. Big props to Steve (clap)
  8. Lemme know if it falls through, I'll be around most of the weekend.
  9. Give me a call on my cell if you know by 5 today, I might be up that way around that time today. I pm'd you.
  10. OHHH NOOOO IT MEANS THEY ARE GOING TO COSUME EVERY LIVING THING IN YOUR TANK!!!!! Better give to me to save your other livestock (laugh) j/k
  11. Hey Frank what time on Saturday do you think your heading to the LFS? And which place you going to? The fiance wants to pick out a fish thats "not a lame goby that sits there and does nothing" (laugh) I should be home from work by 2ish on saturday.
  12. If it makes you feel better Frank, I can take some of those frags off your hands (plotting)
  13. I'm debating on whether or not I should use a 2 part liquid dose, Kalkwasser, or a small calcium reactor? I plan on adding more SPS, but not until I decide on what to do for calcium. My biggest issue is that I've already ran out of room in my stand and dont think I could fit a reactor in there. I've been leaning towards adding a calcium supplemnt like kalkwasser into my auto top off and using a small powerhead to keep it suspended in the RO water in the top off. Or should I just grab one of the 2 part calcium supplements and call it good? The main tank is 15 gallons, total sump volume of another 23-25 gallons. What do you all think?
  14. At the risk of sounding completely newb-ish, what exactly makes then cost so much? Are they extremely rare in the wild?
  15. I got a 1.5" pistol shrimp in my 15gallon along with a beast of a harlequin shrimp. The pistol rules the subsrate and I haven't seen the harelquin go near the bottom of the tank since the pistol went in. Seems like they are keeping their distance even though the harlequin is probably double the pistols' size.
  16. Another question, what do most people use for hose clamps? I've used the plastic ones in the past, but they never feel like they get tight enough (scratch) Do they make stainless steel hose clamps? Anyone know the cost on em if they do? Should I worry about corrosion of the clamps that much?
  17. Ahh, I forgot about how much fun those scwd valves can be to clean DOH! Looks like vinyl tubing it is(clap)
  18. As of right now my tank is hard plumbed with pvc and quick disconnects. I'm going to be adding in a larger volume pump that will run into a SCWD valve and then up to the tank. I was just curious what others' opinions on whether hard plumbing it all in, or just running vinyl tube from the pump, to the scwd, then to the tank is better? Worse? I know this is kinda hard to give an opinion on with out seeing pictures of the current plumbing setup, but feel free to speculate and chime in I'll try and get some photos up soon.
  19. Sweet (clap) YGPM Let the trading begin (rock2) Anybody got a pump now? Something pushing 500-600 gph at zero ft?
  20. I'm looking for an upgraded pump for my system, and a SCWD valve. I currently am using a maxi Jet 1200 with a single output at about 4.5 ft. I'll need something that can push similar gph at that height but through a SCWD valve with 2 outputs. I'll post up some pics of the zoa frags I'll have for trade. Only got a couple of frags, but if some one has a screaming deal on an extra pump for a small system or a SCWD valve lemme know and I could come up with some cash.
  21. I might have to swing by on my way home and grab some of that, I gotta check out those new zoas you got too(rock2) Sorry I couldn't make it to the get together last night, had to watch the kiddo and the wife wasnt so keen on me taking him to have a beer DOH! Guess I have to wait until he's on solid food before he can have a drink with me(laugh)
  22. I worked at a LFS in Eugene for 6 yrs, it was fun to work there but I wouldn't have wanted to be an owner in that place for the life of me. Also, if your gonna be bringing in lots of fresh and saltwater fish, make sure you are up to date on the best preventative treatments for disease and parasites. You can dump a lot of money just trying to get the fish you ordered in healthy enough to sell.
  23. (drooler) Your tank is so freakin awesome. What are you doing tonight? You gotta come and see mine
