  1. Put some pics up when you get it done, I've been thinking of switching to spray bars with my SCWD setup on my 15 gallon.
  2. You guys know anyone who does custom metal stands? I'm thinking something along the lines of a single tall metal pole with a square platform for the tank to sit on. It would be bolted on the back side of the platform to the wall, and at the base to the floor. I'll try and post some illustrations of my ideas soon.
  3. Looking to do some 15x15x15 inch cubes. Preferably high quality glass, drilled for bulk head fittings, and rimless. Stand wise, I'll be needing something that I could bolt into a wall, or through a wall on the studs that would hold somewhere in the 100-125lb range at least. Metal stand/shelves would be ideal, but I have some ideas for wooden ones also. Anybody have recommendations? Either for a person who could do this, or for places where I could get the materials to do it myself? If you know prices, or a ball park range on what it might cost that would help too. Just trying to get an idea of where to start.
  4. All Pics taken by CA2OR of my tank, thans again for the photo shoot
  5. Anyone with Diabetes like me should have some. I'll trade you for a frag (laugh)
  6. Also, those people who frequent internet forums with a high number of children under the age of 15 have much more practice at reading posts with large amounts of grammatical errors, at least in my experience. (laugh)
  7. Yeah they totally do, I've seen at most like 5-6 at once and then nothing for months.
  8. So this must be the third time this year that I have seen a random jellyfish type creature pop up out of no where in my tank. Always the same, purplish brown color, same size, doing the same thing. They will occasionally get swept into the current of the tank but for the most part they would just pulsate at the bottom in the sand. I finally managed to catch one and took a quick video of it. It now resides in my refugium http://s246.photobucket.com/albums/gg100/Stuwobbe/Reef/?action=view&current=P1140033.flv It looks really similar to the upside down jellyfish I saw at the Boston Aquarium, could that be possible? Anyone else ever have these pop up? Good, Bad? What would you recommend I do? I've thought about setting up a small tank so you can better see them, maybe something just plumbed off of the main tank.
  9. That's what my thoughts were, I figured if I sell 2 frags at $7-8 a piece every 4 months I can replace my bulbs (clap) Here's the place I got my bulbs, price was with shipping too (rock2) http://stores.ebay.com/AlpineTopLine
  10. Just wondering what everyones experiences are with changing out HQI bulbs? I just replaced mine that were well overdue, and dang it looks WAY better. Anyone have an idea of how many hours use you can get out of a 70w HQI bulb before it loses its pizazz so to speak (laugh) At $15 shipped for the pair of bulbs I might just do it every 6-8 months.
  11. Awhile back I read a thread on someones custom build and I'm trying to find the pics again. They had a large main display tank plumbed into the wall and a fish room behind it, but on one of the other walls of the fishroom they had plumbed a small cube tank through the wall and mounted it about half way up the wall. If memory serves me, they had just some very nice clams in the bare bottom small cube and a pendant style light hanging above it. Anyone know who did this? Or maybe where to find the thread? I believe it was on this site, but it may have been linked from another site to this one. I cant seem to find anything using the search features, and google hasn't been much help either. Hopefully the original poster, or some one who remembers this tank will see this. Reason I ask is that hopefully I will have a home of my own in the next few months and I definitely plan on doing something similar but with multiple bare bottom cubes and different species of coral with very distinct individual fish in each. There will definately be pictures to follow, once I find a house to buy
  12. Either way at this point it would be a win/win. It colors up and I have blue clavularia, or it melts and I get my rock back (laugh)
  13. shot u a PM Only soft corals really are the clavularia on the bottom left next to the frogspawn and the colt leather on the far right. Other than that I have some zoa frags growing out. All for sale or trade.
  14. The Canopy base frame was half made when I got it, I added another 4 inches onto it and made the lid. It was super cheap to do. Thank you for the compliment on the tank Make sure and put 30 gallons of sump underneath it and you'll be good to go The funny thing is that all the pics I took my flash washed out the tinge of blue it gets under better light, I litterally had a post up trying to give the stuff away since it grows like a weed in my tank. Hopefully it will color up more when my new hqi bulbs show up.
  15. Some new pics of the tank that Eric (CA2OR) was kind enough to take with his much nicer than mine camera (clap)
  16. Just hit him with a mixture of Kalkwasser, Lime Juice, and hot water that always gets rid of em.(laugh)
  17. Hey thats the same thing that my zoas were doing tonight, what is that?(scratch)
  18. yeah for sure, I'm always game for new zoas, or any stonies. hit me up on PM and we can gtg sometime.
  19. Bump for price drop and free clavularia. Maybe TFT wants some?
  20. Maybe nows a good time to switch to T-5's for my actinic, or just put a 3rd 70w hqi in there (laugh)
  21. Care to share what the cost on a stand and tank like that is?
  22. Is it rediculous that I can buy 2 HQI bulbs for less than I can buy one replacement bulb for my 24w power compacts?
