  1. It sure seems to be, I've stopped adding kalkwasser and for the past month my heavily stocked SPS tank has stayed at 500ppm of Calcium, and my alk is around 4.5 mq with pH swinging from 8.4 at night to 8.56 in the day (instead of my old swing of 8.15-8.45)
  2. oh I've got some extra bags laying around, I've just used them so far. when I run out I will end up needing to buy more, but sand is pretty cheap so I'm not so worried
  3. not a product at all, just ro water that was used to rinse out aragonite sand so its all milky with aragonite dust.
  4. I dunno this stuff ends up disolving pretty well, the cloud takes about 5 min to clear and it seems to keep the tank pretty balanced
  5. I'm bet on the hydnophora, mine likes to snack on aiptasia and majanos
  6. Does anyone else use this or have experience with using aragonite "milk", I've been doing it lately and I think I like it. Just take a couple cups or aragonite and rinse it once to get the nasties out, then rinse it a second time in ro water and just add that "milk" to the tank. Use it over and over and I only use about 2 cups a week, after the water is clear its totally clean dust free sand, and it really seems to get my tank happy. I've noticed some corals looking much more vibrant and some increase in growth. Any thoughts on this?
  7. I didn't get one this time, but I think its my e-mail that is the problem, I've been not getting some important e-mails lately, anyhow dyoung4_12@hotmail.com
  8. they are SWEET for anyone that is wondering, I go mine from sknoch
  9. So you aren't planning on trying to raise bachelor fish?
  10. I do the same thing as CCR, but make sure you turn off the pumps, I had a few bits of kalk fly through the tank and leave nice dead spots on the corals they run into.
  11. I ran a Remora on my 29 and it worked really well for it, mostly softies and zoanthids, but I had paranchora and motipora digita
  12. oh check these out, pretty sleek, and they have a 70 watt HQI one if you want to stick to softies http://hellolights.com/ocli15hqiame.html
  13. I would definently do MH in a pendant on that size tank, you can get much better airflow and cooling around a pendant than a hood for obvious reasons, also a hood for a tank that size makes it a bit too complicated to access without removing it anyway
  14. Seeing glass get drilled always makes me fell kinda queezy, it just seems to scarey, but you all make it look so easy
  15. 3-Dart pumps at 4' head?, imagine all those on OM-8ways! My head is spinning
  16. Sounds like my worst nightmare, but I am currious, where is this evil place? maybe I can sell them some of mine, lol
  17. AH-HAH! I found what you are talking about for majano tank! I've got TONS of em if you want some for this idea, mine don't tend to sting anything though, I had a couple rocks COVERED in big green majanos, with a Tenius frag growing right out the middle and it didn't mind at all, they all ran off though when I reaquascaped, those buggers move fast
  18. EW! I think the colors are pretty, but it looks too icky
  19. whats this majano tank idea? I've got TONS of em
  20. I think I have a few lime canisters that would be good for this project on a small tank
  21. what you do is get a cylinder to use, one that wont let light in and with a cap... glue some airline tubing in a tight coil covering the insidewalls of this, and fill the center with bio balls and cap it, the water should flow in through the top, through the bio balls, then into the coil at the bottom, and the coil should have a valve on the output to slow the drip to about 1 drop/second, let that drip into a skimmer or an area with alot of flow and gas exchange, like into the overflow drain or the chamber the overflow dumbs into your sump in. make sure it is air tight though, you don't want air getting in there of course, and when its first set up it helps to add a teaspoon of sugar to the tank, and watch for sulfury smells and if you do have any then increase the flow a tiny bit.
  22. Its so pretty, I wish I had room for another fish
