  1. Looking for a large sump. Needs to be atleast 50 gallons. Ideal dimensions would be 36"long x 24"deep x 20" tall. Must be acrylic as well. I totaled mine today doing some rehab work on it.DOH! Can be larger dimensions than above but would really like to keep it no longer than 36". Does not need to be pretty just functional....Let me know what ya got. Will be calling shops tomorrow..... Thanks all, can be emailed or pm kuroskij@comcast.net
  2. I have been using the biofuel and their salt. Really lile the results. I did cut the biofuel dose in half. Starting getting burnt tips on my acros. Color is much more intense. I did have some questions early on. I called their 800 number, did not call back, but they still returned my call (caller ID). Great customer service. Never used other products though.
  3. As stated above, why did you bother filtering the water just to put what was filtered back into the tank? It is called waste water because that is what it is..... waste. I know some have said that using tap water works just fine. I prefer to be safe rather take unneeded risk with tank, livestock, and my sanity...... Also I return my water back to nature so it can be recycled starting with my lawn. My lawn has never been greener! Hope it works out. Good luck.
  4. nice frag, what is behind the frag in the pic? Is is it some type of purple zoa? Looks nice..
  5. great project, great thread. I'll follow along and watch how this grows.
  6. great thread here. I have been wanting to set up a continuos water change system for some time. It seems the best way to keep water parameters as stable as possible. I plan on doing a 6gpd. I just picked up a reef filler 2000 2 with a 30gpd head. Should work great for what I am doing. I will still do a normal monthly water change as well. Here is what I got. http://www.championlighting.com/home.php?cat=1113 I got it used at a good price and it is in great condition only used for a few months. I will follow along here.
  7. As stated above..TDS does does not meausre phosphates and other metals. Possible that your jug or ato is leaching phosphates? Without the DI resin the RO only does not remove phophate. Get a RO/DI unit you will wonder why you did not get it as soon as you purchased the tank.....
  8. As said above taps scrap bin will have all you want and usually they just give it to you if you buy a few things (glue, etc..). So only pennies if you buy per pound from the scrap bin.
  9. do you have a thread for the auto feeder? I been wanting do do one as well. Curious for details..
  10. ditto wannareef for overflow, drilling is easy watch some online videos buy ebay bits and roll with it.....
  11. I use straight vinegar but keep an eye on things soaking. Hit the rough areas with a tooth brush to speed things up.Quick rinse and its good to go. I keep a few gallons around all the time very handy...
  12. a 36 tall would be sweet.. Obvious issues you are aware of. Do you have plenty of ceilong height to open hood? It would look great
  13. 48 into RO, 0 out of RO into DI. When I read 1 or higher after RO I change......
  14. shoot me a pm as a reminder. You need buckets barrels ro? Let me know. I have a 55 and (2) 15 gallon barrels as well. Let me know and I can drop off barrels, buckets etc... Earlier in week.
  15. I could help on the 1st in the am until about 1:00pm. Also have barrel for mixing some water if needed let me know.
  16. as said above, james at Envision. He ships all over the country, beautiful quality and very nice guy. you could also check with charles aka "wanareef" he might make something thay big for you. Goodluck!
  17. late to the thread but I know there are a few others out there that will join in the chant "here we go syeelers here we go" I am excited to see the shot of the cowboys during the superbowl.........up in the box seats watching......
  18. I was runing 4 ice cap led moonlights. Cut it back to 1 as they were causing a slime algae in the tank. Problem was solved as soon as I turned off moonlights. I agree with what has been stated above thatthe corals need time to rest.
  19. Phosphates build up over gradually over time. Softies will be able to handle higher phosphate levels. Watch out for algae. I ran just an RO for many years and did not have any problem until I started with SPS. First I battled hair algae then my PS stsrted suffering and RTN on my SPS was shortly after. There are many ways to have a successful tank. You might be fine forever or years. I like the confidence that my RO/DI provides. One less thing to worry about. For as much as we end up spending on this hobby it is a small investment. Can usually pick up a nice unit used for about $50.00. Why take the risk? Watch for an algae bloom, that would be your first sign. Just keep an eye out for a used unit and then your worries are gone. Goodluck!
  20. Upscales is more mature, love the cube....As someone said earlier give Tims more time especially with the fish he has stocked, more to watch.
  21. I am thinking of re-doing my sump. I would need to replace it before I could do anything. It is not pretty but is large. It was from one of Soutas old system. If you are interested I will get exact measurements but it is about 48"x36"x20" tall. Not pretty but works great. Also have a DIY skimmer made by "wannareef". Needs some work om pumps. It worked great but not using now. If interested shoot me a pm. Would get rid of skimmer pretty cheap. Would like to see someone put it to use. It is an in sump recirculating and need large sump for it as well. Goodluck.
  22. nothing to trade how much per frag if ya sell?
  23. I give this post two thumbs up....... Sorry it was just there and had to be said.
  24. if it doesn't work for snowpunk i'll take it. Shoot me a pm if it is still for sale.
