  1. See everyone there. Responded to evite as well...
  2. There are many prodcuts you could use. Look-up a company called MASCO or Knife river Concrete Products in Hillsboro. There are different "self leveling floor prodcuts" available. Another layer of concrete will not work as it is too thin of a coating and will not bond to the layer below. Lowes or Homedepot probably has products as well, but the copanies above can give great information for application.
  3. As with most people that have responded I try to buy almost all locally. I think most members on this site do. I used to travel extensively for work and have been to shops all over the USA. We have by far the best concentration of shops and prices that I have found anywhere. Perhaps withthe exception of LA area for obvious reasons. The shops have to find the right balance of having what drygoods customers need on hand and not wasting cash flow with high ticket items that sit for years... I havenever purchased livestock on-line. I want to see what I am getting. Also, I do not have time to drive and find what I need. I call 2 shops that I usually buy my drygoods from. If they can get it in in a few days or have it on hand I buy it. If it is longer than that I buy on-line. I guess one thing that I do differently is I do most of my research for equipment and dry goods on-line. That way I have an idea of what I am looking for and what the price points are. I can't afford to pay double for high tickets items as I think we would all agree on that..
  4. Like said above make sure you water pressure is good. I also change out my first micron filter when my when production slows and backflush the unit.
  5. Thanks all, They have a 120 for him but we want to acclimate him in a small tank then transfer him over. They have been feeding him ghost shrimp and he does not seem to eat anything else. They have other puffers various tanks but this guy has been a challange for them...He is actually in a brackish environment now but thinking to elevate past brackish to salt. Very slowly with a drip/overflow over weeks. Stop the drip give time to adjust and stop if he seems to be doing better. Thanks again, appreciate all of the help and input. His acclimation tank will be a 20 gal then moved to the 120. I am resisting the urge to lick..........
  6. No photos, I don't have one. It actually looks somewhat like a baby snakehead. My neighbor keeps many freshwater tanks. He purchased one a few weeks ago. He did some quick research on a freshwater forum and spoke many times with the LFS. Once he brought it home it started going downhill. He started looking on a few Salt forums and found completely different info. It appears that a few people have had long term success keeping them in a completely salt environment. The photos I saw posted actually had them in a softie tank. We are thinking we might try and set-up a tank for him and slowly drip acclimate him to salt and see if the puffer shows somw signs of recovery. I have ggogled and seem some articles and I think it is as described above where people eat it and hope they don't die. No cooking for me.....I will see if I can find the and link the you-tube video that I found of a few eating.
  7. Hello All, Does anyone have any experience keeping fugu puffers? I have found limilted info on them. The only thing that seems consistant is that they spawn in freshwater and then return to the ocean after spawing.. Any info would be great. Thanks....
  8. I will be sneaking this one into the house....I will be filleted if wife sees it....33 are cool and it will fit the spot perfectly. Hopefully I won't crack it when I drill.
  9. Thanks for the heads up guys. I will head over and check out the 33 tomorrow. The 29 would be to tall for where I need to put it but thanks for checking.
  10. Looking for 20 long for QT. Could possibly use a 33 long as well. Does not need to be pretty. Thanks Jim
  11. Socks work great for me. I exchange sock every few days. I keep dirty socks in a bucket with lid and a capful of bleach and ro/di water. When i have a load I wash first with hot then in cold until there is no smell of bleach. For me works great, I have an increase in algae without socks. All setups function differently and what works for some does not work for others. Many variables to everyones set-up. I have a 5 year old son that enjoys feeding fish. We feed alot and often. I need to utilize as many tools as possible to help export extra nutrients and various nasties. Some pods but not too many.
  12. My ballast hums when it fires up initially but never heard of one making sounds when it is off... Call where you got it or manufacturer. I think an exchange might be good thought.
  13. If you know that you want larger/more tanks in the future I would strongly recomend buying the equipment you need now and not skimping. For a few dollars more you can get the better unit that would serve your needs now and into the future. If you do not start with quality water you will always have problems with your tank and get frustrated. If you can not afford the unit you want now, wait until you can. I am very aware of costs when purchasing equipment. I have had great luck buying used from here and other boards. Hope you find what you need!
  14. Even though Bend has great water, it still will have phosphates which are a problem for your reef tank. Have you tested your tap water? Also all of the "stuff" that builds up in your pipes. Maybe try some water from an LFS? Hillsboro has great water as well, my tap still is very high in phosphates and the TDS is around 45. Tastes great but still not good for my tank. The diffeent products that remove phospahtes can be run in a small reactor that can be attached to your sump if you have one or hung on the back of yur tank. If you look around you can find some great deals on an used RO/DI units. They are fantastic. What are you thinking you want to try?
  15. Yes, plastic barrel. It was food grade had soy sauce in it. I have been using it for years now for top off and salt mixing. Also, I will be emptying my live rock tub which is a 100 gallon rubbermaid as well. You could use it and it would be ready by the end of this week. It has a 3/4" drain with a shut off. Shoot me an email or PM if you need to use either or both. Goodluck with search!
  16. Ryan, I have a 55 gallon drum that you are welcome to use I live in Hillsboro.
  17. Great looking tank. How long has it been set-up?
  18. I have a 1/2 makita that would do the job. I also have an adjustable hole cutter that will cut from 2" to 5" hole. Welcome to use. I don't know if you need it quickly but I would not be availble until Tuesday next week for a meet. Would also need to be during the day over lunch time or so. Shoot me a PM if you need, more than welcome to use.
  19. Frank- Someone beat you to the workhorse 7 but I still have endscaps, I would sell you the PFO ballast with endcaps but no wiring/cables for $25.00. Remember, the PFO works on one side but not the other so only one side works. I have not checked the rating but it "should" run (2) 36" VHO. You can try and if it works pay for it if not I take it back.
  20. Hello All- Cleaning out my garage and have a few items that are taking up space and hoefully useful to someone. Need funds for some new bulbs. KNOP C Calcium reactor - Used it on my 100g frag tank and worker well. Has been on the shelf for 2 years. New they sell for $279.00 asking $125.00 VHO end caps and mounts - Used but in good condition. I do not know the brand but are the 3 piece units. I have (2) pairs standoffs and End Caps. Sell new for $17.00 pair (ends and standoffs) asking $5.00 per pair (end caps and standoffs). WORKHORSE 7 Ballast by Fulham- This was bougfht new and never used. New from Reefgeek is $35.99 asking $20.00 PFO VHO Ballast, endcaps, wiring - I used this on frag system for a year or so. Been on the shelf 2 years now. I plugged it in and one side does not work, one side does. I believe it will power (1) 72" VHO, (1) 48" VHO or (2) 36" VHO. asking $60.00 RED SEA BERLIN SKIMMER - This unit is atleast 6 years old. Last check he pumped worked but not very well. Sellig as if the pump is useles. New these were about $250.00. I would not use this skimmer on a tank over 55 gallons if houseing SPS. Used it frequently for quarantine tank and live rock tub. Asking $60.00 I am not good at posting or taking photos. I was able to get a pic of the KNOP C but that was all. If interested in photos please email me kuroskij@comcast.net and I will respond with a photo. Thanks all for looking! Jim
  21. Hello Frank, I think I could help. I have an old 48" (PFO?) fixture with (2) VHOS and (2) MH. I might have a ballast for the vho as well. I know I have a dual 400 MH ballast you could use. You might need to do some wiring to get the right connections between the fixture and the ballast. I live in Hillsboro and you could pick up during the day if I know when you would be available. Let me know if this will work.
  22. Go with MP40. Adjust down like mentioned above. I have a 48x24x24 120g with a dart CL and (1) MP40 and I need another MP40
  23. I have a 120g 48x24x24. Run a dart closed loop and an mp40. I get more water movement from my mp40 than my dart. I have been thinking about getting another mp40 and shutting down the dart or just using it to "blast" rocks occasionally. My closed loop is an over the top with 3/4" loc-line in each top corner. Just an opionion but I really like my mp40. goodluck
  24. I would check for metal pieces as said above. I had this problem last year and it was stray voltage from my heater. I discovered only after exhausting all other possibilities. Put my hand in the tank with bare feet and got zapped. Goodluck.
