  1. Its not hard to do...you just need the right sandpaper and to follow some simple directions. Look for Micro-mesh products or online you can go to Everclear Transparency Solutions and buy a kit. If the scratches are very small, you might even be able to get a liquid buffing compound that will do what you need. The nice thing about the waterproof sandpaper pads that come with the kit is that they can safely be used inside a stocked tank.....the buffing compound cannot
  2. I have good luck with Joes juice. However, if i am careless or in a hurry, they simply come back as has been described. It didnt work for me long term either until I figured out how it needs to be used. I shut off all flow to the tank and slowly approach them not making them flinch........i never actually touch them, i drop the food(joes juice) from slightly above them and allow them to eat absolutely as much as they can hold which is quite a bit of the stuff. I have quite a bit of flow in my tanks so after treating i will leave the flow off for another 5 minutes. It works, they do not come back. I would like to know what exactly Joes Juice is made from. I would bet money it IS kalk or similar, but with something else added to it that makes them want to eat it.
  3. I LOVE my Tamron macro lens on my D100. It was recommended to me by some very skilled photographers who actually prefer it over the nikkor anyway..... Why i couldnt begin to tell you....lol Its a sweet lens
  4. Also keep in kind that if you are using a in sump skimmer, you want the first baffle in the skimmer section a little higher than the last, set at the optimum operating water level for your skimmer. That way the water level NEVER changes in your skimmer section, so that evaporation and if and how your ATO works will not matter. It will skim consistently the wet or dryness you prefer.

  7. There is no right or wrong answer here.... obviously there are some people who have developed a means of using them to their advantage, others have their systems set up in such a way that they are not necessary and more of a PITA and mess than they are worth. Like everything in this hobby..many ways to a beautiful reef, you just have to find out what works best for you.

  12. NO to the screw clamp. Use either a threaded male adapter or a threaded 90 into the bulkhead......the flex pipe is glued inside that. The spa flex is not to be clamped onto anything....it is glued in place just like regular pvc. Same goes for the "y".....the flex is glued inside the fitting......being as losing a l;ittle bit of flow doesnt usually matter on your return, you cna simply take a T and glue two 45's to it for your Y....Y's are hard to find. Same with ball valves.......use slip ball valves and glue the flex INSIDE the valve just like regular PVC. When you get the parts together...post again or call me if you still have my number......ill give you a few tricks to using flex PVC that will make it a little easier for ya. Also think in advance of what parts of this system might ever need to be removed..........install unions so you can easily do so.
  13. that sucks. I think Nyles idea of tricking them into giving you an honest report of what it is in the water might very well be worth $20. Is it possible to get a sample of water from before the lines to your store start? Might at least be able to isolate if it is indeed a city problem or a landlord/personal problem. Sorry to hear :(
