  1. Why would one in a friendly conversation reply to a simple statement i made with a facetious "mods delete my post becasue i am too cool?" I didnt even tell you that your analysis was entirely wrong, i just said it wasnt complete by any means. Dont usually see that kind of attitude here.......but whatever. have a great day
  2. I think the Pam Anderson LE's, Hasselhoff LE Palys and the Gary Coleman LE Palys are asking for it maybe......... lol
  3. That surely is a clear cut analysis in a big world out there. I might be able to refer you to many thousand accomplished reefers who wouldnt exactly agree that the reasoning is limited to that Like everything in this hobby, many ways to skin a cat and skin it well
  4. Im on my own septic as well and I dump mine in my driveway. I generate at least 50 gallons a week, and it does a great job of killing most of the weeds.... BUT...just a little fyi, i asked this same question of a marine biologist recently and was told that the bacteria in your septic system will not even be phased by saltwater quote Jerel: bacteria work just fine in salt water, you use the same ones in your aquarium. Many places in the islands use salt water for flushing toilets, etc. and many septic tanks around the coast have salt water intrusion. Clorox (salt water), and water softeners put more salt into a septic tank. The one reason you would not want to dump a whole lot of salt water, more than you would ever use with a water change, is if you have very heavy clay soils. Salt can cause heavy clay soil to compact. Most field lines have gravel around them for drainage, so that's not a problem. I still put it in my driveway..but just soemthing to think about
  5. Ive used a MR-2 with a pcx 55 for a while. Quality was excellent and it was a serious junk pulling machine. I got rid of it because it was only a skimming machine for 2 or 3 days after i would fiddle with it. I prefer oversized ASM's and Euroreefs as they do a great job EVERY day without having to touch them. Im not going to say they skim better than most beckett skimmers becasue they simply DONT. But get them oversized and they do a better job in the big picture for me. JMO One other thing that kind of matters in my situation is on my DSB tank I skim wet......i mean REALLY wet. All of my water changes are performed through my skimmer like a gallon and a half a day. So ANY degree of tempermental is not ok for me the way i like to run this tank. And on my BB tank, i have the flow and overall tanks et up so that everything truly does make it to the skimmer. I never have to siphon out any detritus in the tank. I dont skim nearly as wet in this tank as I would simply remove too much from the water column, so for me not having to ever touch my skimmers except to clean the throat every few days is important to me.
  6. I didnt read all of this thread...but my opinion on just the regular old acoel flatworms is that if youve only got a few....as in less than a couple hundred if you really look.......nail em with FWE while its still relatively easy and no risk or PITA to do so. My 6 line and clown go nuts on them once they die and start floating in the water column too. Sure, without the nutrients there populations will typically go down........but get em while the gettin's good IMO
  7. Tyree Limited Edition Loissette You have a pic of this mother colony Lowman?? Im not going to be at the meeting to trade......im just curious. A guy gave me a 2" frag a couple of months ago, and I came across it online and THEN realized what a favor he did me...........as there are waiting lists until 09 in some places for this thing...... I just want to see a colony of it.
  8. http://www.customaquatic.com/customaquatic/subsubcategorypage.asp?subcatindexid=wp-wp-spart1 heres a little better price...but check on shipping cost differences http://www.azponds.com/external_pump_parts.htm
  9. LOL Man, that song is going to be stuck in my head now the REST of the day. :(
  10. If the other four sealed even with a backwards gasket, i would leave them. They arent going to start leaking becasue of it if they are sealed now.
  11. The ridges go against the glass
  12. If you replaced the gasket with a new one, and added one on the nut side, lose the one on the nut side. Its not helping you, possibly even responsible for why its not sealing now.....i kind of doubt it, but maybe. They DO make bulkheads for high pressure applications with a gasket to be used on the nutside, but its a hard gasket, and a much burlier bulkhead overall Have you inspected the bulkhead for damage?? Maybe you should have replaced the entire bulkhead. A drip every minute should seal itself within a week, but that doesnt guarantee it will. Try taking off your extra gasket.
  13. And a couple of fts The 225 is 7 months old and the 90 is 5 months old
  14. I havent updated this in many months so figured id add some pics and a couple of FTS
  15. Very cool though. My pink spotted never comes out either. He cant hide anywhere the way i lift my rock, so i can see him all day long.......but hes always under the reef. The other day he had his snout in the light for a moment and by the time i got the camera he was gone. lol still havent got a pic of him
  16. Thow pamela Anderson Nudis emit toxins from their silicone glands that will crash your tank. NOT reef safe
  17. Id rather have a Ultra Rare LE Gary Coleman Paly
  18. I dont like a ton of fish......if i didnt want them to poop i would have even less than i already do
  19. Did you by chance OVER tighten it?? Sometimes that can make them leak. You might try backing it off completely and reseating it if you havent already done so.
  20. Heres a super simple 100 gallon sump i made from scratch for my 225. This pic was taken right after start up. the probes arent there, and i have modded the skimmer some. 3 baffles with lots of space, first baffle controls the water level for the skimmer. No socks, sponges or anything else needed. Only thing in the chamber on the right is a submersible return pump
  21. dont think fragging is totally necesary unless the damage appears to be spreading. Personally, i tend to always snip and seal wounds with glue for two reasons. One-i think it is just a good idea and always seems to help and Two- I find that corals tend to grow over my glue and shoot out a bunch of arms where i snip and glue them where they wouldnt if i left the dead area exposed
  22. The crab will most likely die. Get it out if you can. I always up the dose and time some. I lost almost all of my crabs(AGAIN) last week with in tank interceptor treatments for red bugs. I managed to save a couple... :(
  23. 3- 250w Icecap elec. and 15k xms on my 225 2- 250 w Icecap elec and 15k xms with 2 110 vho actinics on the 90 Ive been using these bulbs for a long time and love the color.....I know the par sucks but i get good growth out of them..........ive been shopping recently for a bulb change though......think next bulbs will be Hamilton 14k's. No intention or need to go to different wattage IMO
  24. I think the gentlest and safest way to do it is to simply top off with ASW instead of freshwater until you are where you want to be.
