  1. what time of day are you testing?? before you try to add anything to raise the ph first do this drill to possibly identify why it is low instead of treating the symptom of another issue 1. test the tanks PH 2. take a glass full of tankwater in the same room the tank is in and stir it violently for a minute. test the ph 3. take a glass of tankwater outside and stir it biolently for a minute. test the ph this will in most cases identify why most people have low ph(and 7.98 isnt all that bad especially if taken in the morning). not enough surface exchange to promote good gas exchange and or high CO2 levels in the house are the usual reasons for slightly low ph when everything else is in line. hth

    PVC to acrylic?

weldon #40 will do it. 16 probably too. 40 will get you a better bond between different materials if it was somthing under pressure which it isnt.........But I would just get a new gasket. If it isnt sealing it is becasue either the gasket is compromised, or the plastic on the bulkhead is warped or damaged so the gasket cant do its job. Another option that is better than bonding the thing together is simply replace the gasket with silicone. this will fix the leak as well as be removable if you ever wanted
  3. anybody who wants to mail me a little frag with as many of these suckers on it as possible I would like to have it. I will send you a few nice polyps for your trouble and include a prepaid fed ex slip to mail the cooler back to me I want to both take pics and experiment with the potassium permegranate as when I had them I didnt know about that as a treatment. Ive got a couple of ugly montis I would put in my qt tank and let them infest them so I would have enough to experimetn with Ill take red bugs too if you got em as well. just for some pics. impur......if you want to we can maybe work out a polyp trade in the process
  4. good point. it was late when I replied and I ddint even consider that part.
  5. If you want a CLS the snapper is fine, although snappers are kind of a silly concept when a dart hard;ly costs any more and the flow will be there if you decide to take the sand out or even use the pump on soemthing else in the future Simply taper it back with a ball valve after the pump to how much flow you want. after the pump use 2" piping, split it to 1.5" and use 1.5" ports so you can get the most usable flow without the velocity. Do this and you can give that tank a whole lot more flow than people running too small of piping and outlet ports think while still keeping the sand on the ground. Omniflex nozzles at the outlet ports are the sweetest option there is. Only stick out a couple inches and can be aimed anywehre you want.
  6. Bought a piece of supposedly used equipment from him and had it shipped to me. From the equipment to the packaging it was in I wouldnt have known it wasnt brand spankin new straight from the factory if he didnt say so. Thanks again, Appreciate it -b
  7. Nyles..I have two 1/10. One is an PCI cl-280 works great. One year of use on it. $200 the other is a Aqua Euro with little over a year of use on it as well. It doesnt work great. the board went out after warrantly which was a common problem. the board is $40 and they will fix it for free...you just have to get it to them or fix it yourself. $100 let me know if interested -b
  8. Im just looking for more resolution on my macros...thats pretty much all I take anymore...... I dont need anymore features.......I just want more pixels....... with that being said......are there any used 10 mp that should be on the market I should have my eye out for??
  9. it does fine for this super rookie. I only paid $550 for it with two nikkor lenses....one of which a 105 mm i sold on ebay for $400......nearly paid for my tamron macro. As fast as it sold I think I should have researched it a little bit more and asked for more.........DOH! I would like to get a 10 mp unit sometime in the not too far future though.......need to find another deal like I got on this one...... on that note.......what should i be looking for in the used department about this time that will fit the bill?? Watchoo got laying around??
  10. yeah..i looked and it doesnt have it I guess. I believe in its day, this d-100 was a high end nikon. lol
  11. i bought a few of them a while back........didnt like the spread and switched to lumenarcs. Tank is 72 x 30. with the bulbs 9" from the water couldnt cover the tank form front to back and even worse, left a slight shadow in between the center and end bulbs on both sides.
  12. my d-100 is super finicky. i have tried using everything you can imagine to set it to and it gives me rejection after rejection. I finally figured out if I use a cutting board, and have my wife hold it in the tank I can get it to take without too much trouble. pledosophy...out of curiousity.....since you probably know my camera better than me.......does mine have the option to set the white balance to a kelvin rating?? I havent seen it. Im still set at my old 10k xm's balanced to the cutting board........but running reeflux now so i need to change it. the camera is 3-4 years old I think...ive had it for a year or so......
  13. specifically looking for that pink/red with green polyps one. But open to the tubs or any nice one.
  14. the only acclimation they need is floated to temp then dumped. the ONLY exception to this is if the water they are in is of a signifigantly lower S.G than your water.......then you want to do acclimate them slower by dripping or simply a cup in...cup out, other than that you are doing them a favor by simply getting them out of the water they shipped in. When I say dumped I mean dumped into your pest treatment bucket with tankwater of course
  15. Ive recently switched to Revive as well. It kills the FW at least as effectively, some think even better, and isnt nearly as harsh on the corals.
  16. 2.5 pills 2 treatments. Dont do any water changes afterwards, just crank the skimmer up. the bugs will not come back assuming you dont reintroduce them
  17. ive recently changed over from tmpcc to coral revive as well. I still use interceptor as i dont believe that iodine truly does kill the bugs, at least not unless you used it for so long that you would be risking killing the coral. tmpcc is gnarly stuff and you can overdose it and it will cause its own problems. a little trick.....use a cup or two of near boiling ro/di water to mix your interceptor up in....it will start going to work in ten minutes insetad of hours. I run it for 45 minutes and confidently can say it kills all red bugs in this timeframe. I didnt believe it when i first heard it but proved it for myself. 20 minutes is good enough to be honest...but i run it for 45 anyway
  18. I have jsw covered, but to be honest, it is kind of irrelevant which lfs had them. you guys need to assume everybody is infected and treat all incoming new arrivals. redbugs are a walk in the park, you come down with aefw's and you will have a real problem and many hobbiests who have them have no idea. You can expect a LFS to take reasonable precautions, but due to volume it is impossible to expect them to be able to catch everything. If you want to protect your blood sweat and tears its your responsibility to simply treat and closely inspect new guys before throwing them in your display. for future reference, interceptor can be obtained here. ignore the prescription needed...just order it and it will ship. http://www.petmedstore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=petmedstore&Product_Code=INTWHIDOG6M100L I pay a little more but my vet gives them to me no problem, but know of many who have purchased from them
  19. Ok...thats is SWEET. Iwould love to go play with that thing for an hour........ Hopefully somebody ELSE would provide the ammunition though...... rough guess....$75 a minute........
  20. are you kidding me?? 8 hours of traffic safetly school is WAY more grueling. all it takes is VERY basic knowledge of how to handle a gun, a few hours of your time and a clean criminal record. Im not against vigilante justice in some cases....but in the big picture, i believe that if there were some big campaign or something to get all of these citizens to start carrying guns in an effort to promote it, many more people would die than if that campaign didnt happen. That will never happen...but Im just saying hypothetically. We all know or have known someone who is very public about their ability to carry a gun and to brandish it often. The more people who carry the more idiots like that you would have carrying and using them in situations that didnt call for it, and more people would get hurt and die as a result of it. I like guns. Have a dozen or so. Have a CWP, carry one in the truck and have had to once actually pull it out and it did stop something potentially very bad from happening. Doesnt change the fact that the last thing I think would be a good idea is to trust a signifigant number of the general populations judgement if they were packing heat.
