Thanks! Are Tunzes generally long lasting? And do they have good customer service even if something goes wrong after the first year? If I spring that much for a pump, it needs to be really reliable and long lasting!(plotting) And the single controller makes it possible "pulse" the pump to creat wave action, right?

Two Tunzes plus the multi controller are definitely out of the picture unless someone wants to sell them at an awesome price used. But it seems they barely go cheaper than the new ones, even used. I'll definitely take a look at the RC Tunze forum! Did I see your name on one of the recent Tunze sales there?

I've been considering it, but the price is still holding me back. Do you run the tunze at full power, or dialed back? My 120G will have a shallow sand bed. Would I have trouble with a tunze? If I decided to get one, should I get a 6100 or a 6000? Is one on a contoller enough for a 4" tank for starters (with a couple of MJs in addition)? Does the single controller have the nightmode and food timer? How close to the tunze can you place the corals without running into trouble? -Susanne

Keep it! They are harmless (though some eat coraline algae, I think).

I have a small Tubipora musica, though the polyps look slightly different. Got it for very little money a few months ago, because it looked barely alive back then.

It's a hard decision! I'd be a little worried that hitting the plumbing wrong might bust the tank later one, but then, if you don't make the intake larger, you might be forever wishing you had.

What kind of cost will the DIY be, approximately? I'm trying to decide between diy and base rock.

Pictures, please! I'm waffling between wanting to try DIY rocks or getting cheap base rock and building nice structures out of them with epoxy. It looks really great in Iwan's new tank (a guy from Switzerland, thread is on RC). I stumbled across his thread yesterday, and he did a great job. Of course, he's got plenty of corals to cover up his rock with, so it doesn't matter what it looks like!

I agree! The anonymity of the internet makes it so easy for people to do and say things they'd never dream of using in person. Not to even get into the predator type personalities finding an easy menu to choose from. Kids are a lot better at using computers at a younger and younger age, but don't always understand the necessity of protecting their identity or their friends'. And sometimes they pretend to be older etc.

Is there any way to find out his name through the cell phone company? If you are extremely concerned, maybe the police can help? You think your daughter is tempted to go along with what this guy is asking her to do?

Does your daughter talk to you about him? Is he a local kid and does she know his real name?

Do you top off with Kalkwasser? I'm thinking of trying that out, but am a little worried about it clogging up a powerhead.

Another vote for Eheim! I run a 1262 on my 120G and my tank temp is about 75 F without the heater. I suspect the mag7 on my skimmer is partially responsible for the heat, plus the 4 MJs in the tank. With the lights on (T5) my temp goes to 78 F. Room temp is anything between 68F in the morning to 74F in the afternoon.
