  1. I'll give it a try this weekend, though I'm not sure if a picture will show much. Am kind of miserable today and just vegging out until the migraine goes away completely. Let me know if you want to come by and see it in action some time! I do still want an MJ mod for some countercurrent!
  2. Oh, well, I'll just try to be patient! If I wanted to put a fish or two in before adding the sand, will there be problems for them when I do put the sand in? And how about corals?
  3. I did that twice already, once when I took the rock out of the 40G and transferred it to a rubbermaid tub for a few weeks, and then again before putting it into the 120G. It was uncured rock when I got it. Ammo and trits are undetectable and trates are >10, so I don't think there is still die-off going on.
  4. Maybe the Tunze I just added will take care of that little problem? Though I'm not sure where all that detritus is coming from, if it's not the rock shedding. Apart from a few snails, there is nothing living in the tank currently, and I'm not feeding it. Snail poop?
  5. My used Tunze arrived yesterday, and while it's a bit bulky, it sure puts out some nice flow! Anyone want to recommend some good starter setttings for the controller? I currently have power 1 set a minimum and power 2 at max, with the pulse set at switching about every 10 seconds.
  6. I've had some live rock in my 40G since spring (it's now in the 120G) and even though I blow the gunk out with an MJ1200, it still sheds a bunch of gunk each and every time. I want to wait before putting sand in until the rock is pretty much done shedding, but at this rate the tank will be bare bottom for years! (scratch)
  7. I wouldn't see why you coudn't glue the powerhead on directly, as long as you can still open it up easily for cleaning. I'm thinking of trying it with my MJs sometime in the future.
  8. The Slurp spider again?? I never quite understood what they are about and how do you know what they are looking at?
  9. Yeah, they usually go away when you are just about ready to throw in the towel! Good circulation helps, and a goby or a bunch of nassarius snails to keep the sandbed stirred.
  10. Well, darn! I'll just have to wait and see if a tang eats it, and maybe keep it down by brushing it off in the meantime. Should a tang be the last fish in, or are they accepting of new fish (that aren't another tang) in general?
  11. No worries! I'll have to look into maybe learning how to make these.
  12. Maybe I can buy a few from you once I'm ready for corals?
  13. What would you recommend to keep it in check?
  14. Thanks! That's good to know.
  15. While I've had plenty of different algae in my tanks since I got started with salt water, it's been mostly of the slime variety. Any hair algae was always eaten by the snails or the emerald crabs, and it looked different (darker and more branchy). My new tank only has some LR, snails and one emerald crab in it, and I'm noticing this lovely, bright green algae starting to pop up in little bunches here and there. I don't see anyone eating it, and it's very slowly spreading. Is this the dreaded green hair algae and should I start freaking out? Or will a future fish (tang?) eat this kind later on, when I start stocking?
  16. Tell me more about the magnet frags!
  17. I keep forgetting about them!
  18. Ah, that's possible! I'll register with them.
  19. I think some of the Seios tend to not restart when completely turned off, and the controller prevents that by taking them down to 50% power at intervalls, instead of completely turning them off.
  20. I thought the controller makes it possible to "pulse" the pump at intervalls, thus creating a wave motion.
  21. It's new! They just started becoming available.
  22. Submersible, for a 40G freshwater, something like stealth or titanium. Trying to stay away from glass.
  23. Thanks! Am checking it out now, but can't find a "Sales" thread, just one for sales feedback.
