  1. I called SLS and spoke to Scott. He is going to send out a paid return label and says the return time is usually 48-72hrs. I'm sure glad I didn't sell the 4 lamp fixture. With my luck with lights, I knew it wouldn't be long before I needed it!
  2. So, it seems to be the ballast. I finally had time to switch the set of bulbs that runs without problems in the middle, to the outside slots. About 45min. later, the GFCI tripped. If reset, it keeps happening at shorter and shorter intervals. This sucks! The fixture is new and under warranty. Now I have to find out whom to contact to get things rolling. Fortunately I kept my 4 bulb fixture as backup, so I'm not totally without lights.
  3. It sure is strange that all but one of the corals from your tank are fine, and the rest are dying. Maybe Miles' were still recovering from the recent quarantine and dipping, and the light shock did them in? (scratch)
  4. What kind of light were the corals you got from Nyles under? I know that I have to be careful and shade anything I move from pc lighting to the T5, but your's were under metal halide, right? 6 T5's over an 18" deep tank is a lot of light, though! Maybe some eggcrate for a few days, or window screen to give them a chance to adjust? I'm starting my fixture out fairly high above the tank and will bring it down slowly over time. The hanging kit is great for that!
  5. That really sucks! Were they all doing fine and just faded away once transferred to the new tank?
  6. On the photo it looks like there is air in the overflow tubes? Is the siphon really going?
  7. Welcome to the site! I'd also be interested in buying a few of your frags! Awesome zoas!
  8. Maybe the pump needs to be in a larger chamber of the sump to have a little more water to work with?
  9. Okay. I'd also be happy to buy one of the actinics from you if you still have too much blue or pay you a little to make up for the quality difference if you decide on a trade. And good luck getting the leaks fixed! We are going through something similar with the freshwater tank. Will have to take the water down below the bulkheads and do some silicone work.
  10. How many were you thinking of trading? I have two 10k lamps I'd like to switch to blue (one CA brand, one no-name). Though even one more blue/actinic one would work. Not sure what brand your's are.
  11. Oh, and after just flooding my laundry room after forgetting that I turned the RO/DI on, I highly recommend investing in a float valve! Yet another item added to the long list of wants/needs.
  12. Hey, I need more blue! Want to sell me a few of your bulbs?
  13. Did you get the ACJR with serial port or without? Let me know how it works out for you! I'm seriously thinking of making this my Christmas plus Birthday wish for this year!
  14. I plugged the other set of light in about 15min. ago, and so far no problem. Maybe a stray drop of water did land somewhere and triggered the GFCI? Or may be the lights need to be on a bit longer? I guess the true test will be leaving the house and see what awaits when I get back home tomorrow... Edited to add: It just went out again, so it does seem to be related to the lights. I'll take the bulbs out and see if anything looks off on the ends. Or maybe I'll switch the middle bulbs that are working for sure to the outsides and see if it's the bulbs or the ballast.
  15. Thanks! The bulbs I got are used, so maybe I need to check the ends!
  16. I agree. That tank doesn't get close to 20amps. I hope it's not the Tek light ballast. I'd be a pain to have to send it in, but it is at least still under warranty.
  17. No tripping since I took the "new" set of bulbs off. I also remembered that just when it happened, I had started to refill the ATO reservoir next to the tank. Though I wouldn't think that a drop of water in that area could hit any plugs. I'm going to wait a half hour and then plug the suspicious set of bulbs back in and see what happens.
  18. Help! This morning the gfci has klicked off three times within 10 minutes. Fortunately I'm not working today, but any other day, things would have been off for 8 hrs. by the time I get home. The only new thing is that I have so far only used 4 out of eight bulbs on the Tek fixture. Yesterday I added 4 more bulbs and had that new set turn on first this morning. It had been on for a couple of hours before the GFCI went off the first time. I've now unplugged that set of bulbs and turned on the other one, to see if that was the culprit. There are no problems elsewhere, as far as I can tell. No water leaking anywhere, getting on a plug. Now I'm afraid to leave the house, since this has never happened before. My whole tank is on one dedicated 20Amp outlet, so if that one turns off, everything on the tank does. Any advice would be welcome! I can't afford a battery back-up at the moment, but it's sure starting to sound like a good thing! Are there any controllers with battery back-up out there?
  19. It's the old style, I think. Bought it used early this year. And I finally had time to really look into the problem today and found that a limpet had gotten into it and it was just about large enough to cover 2/3 of the intake right where it enters the skimmer. After some "surgery" with my daughter holding the flashlight so I could see into the intake, and me fishing around with an icepick and tweezers, I got it out and now it's back to working famously again!
  20. Does anyone have any idea what I can try apart from a vinegar soak? It worked fine on a tub of LR I have cycling, but all of a sudden there doesn't seem to be much air coming in anymore. The airline is not plugged and the vinegar soak accomplished nothing. It just went from skimming great to not at all over night. I don't see any way to take it apart, either.
  21. I'm asking because the neptune website mentions it can replicate the moon cycle with and incandescent bulb, so I was wondering if anyone had tried and LED moonlight and what happens.
  22. Can you explain the difference between the DC4 and 8? Is it just the number of plug-ins, or is there something else to it?
