  1. Ah, I was wondering how to get it to be porous!
  2. Yes, I need to fill the 120G that's coming in next Friday! What's the "recipe" for diy rock?

    free Ipod?

I think it says a $50 minimum has to be in the checking account.
  4. Thanks, that would be great! Edited to add: I found it in today's paper, so no need for you to find it!
  5. No, I didn't see that! We only get the weekend paper, but I checked every day online. It didn't show up there!
  6. Guys! It's okay! Everyone needs to decide if they need a heater by seeing how far down the temp goes in the tank at night and if that's an acceptable temperature. All I wanted to know was what brands are considered good nowadays since I haven't been in the market for a heater in a while!
  7. Looking at the upcoming heatwave, you might be right! I'm looking at the future, though and we keep our house pretty cool during the winter. LIghts will be T5s. My 40G with 4 T5 bulbs gets to about 79-80 F during the day and drops to about 76 at night without the heater. The temp never goes much below 70 F in house at night, currently. Any specific brands that are known to be reliable for the titanium heater?
  8. What are people using nowadays? And how many watts do I need for a tank that size? Should I have two, in case one stops working? Is Ebo-Jaeger still considered reliable -Susanne
  9. Unfortunately not! I have to stay at home to work, while my husband and daughter will hit the road for a camping trip!(sad)
  10. Sure, though it might be easier to send a pm here, since my tanks are at home. I'm Susanne Woelbing and teach handwork at the Village school (it's a Waldorf inspired charter school on Lincoln Str. near 29th). We share a building with Ridgeline Montessori school.
  11. I'm in Eugene and could set you up with small frags of GSP, xenia, red shrooms and finger leather if you are interested. I teach at the Village School. No tank at school though. My clown hosts in the red mushrooms and the finger leather.
  12. What school in Eugene are you teaching at? -Susanne
  13. Can you use trusses as a brace? Though I'm not sure how to fit one through the small access hole into out crawlspace, if trusses are what I think they are! Better support than joists, right? We are getting another estimate next Wednesday, so we'll see what comes up then.
  14. Well, I think there are a lot more reefers in the Portland area. Eugene is a bit far! I took on a extra job to pay for my addiction, so I'll just have to do it a bit longer than planned.
  15. The new tank isn't going to be set up for a few weeks! Are you in Eugene in the near future! The problem is, that my husband is not going to fit under there and he gets asthma easily. The dust in the crawlspace would do him in, and the spiders would do *me* in!
  16. I was hoping someone would say "I'll do it for $100"!
  17. Well, I was right! We have no floor joists! The contractor just left and here is the verdict: It's a post and pier foundation, and the floor is made from tongue and groove (sp?) 2x6s, with a subfloor on top of that and then the hardwood floor. The contractor thinks it's strong enough, since the tank would be sitting right along the middle main beam and there is another beam about 6 feet away from that one. If we wanted a brace, it would run from $250 - possibly more, depending on how long it takes. The price is higher, because of our miserable crawl space making it a challenge to work under. What's the general opinion? Brace or no brace? Are tongue and groove 2x6s a good support ? Just for fun, here is a picture to see how messy the crawlspace is! -Susanne
  18. This is a picture from someone selling one (see attachment). Is it possible to see the in and out here?
  19. I used paint for this (see attachment). Where would the excess water come out?
  20. No! I have to go to work soon, and want to find out about it, too! I'm just as ignorant when it comes to the more advanced skimmers! Maybe a diagram where to connect the output from the tank, and where the excess water would exit on this particular skimmer?
  21. So, if you wanted to turn this skimmer http://a1272.g.akamai.net/7/1272/1121/20051025232909/www.drsfostersmith.com/images/Categoryimages/normal/p_22925_31212P.jpg into a recirc, would you just have to substitute a NW pump, or does it still need drilling?
  22. Thanks! The uniseals sound great! Do they actually work instead of regular bulkheads on a drilled tank? Is the eheim NW a completely new pump, or can you stick the impellar into their regular pumps?
